I stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday. They were slow so my experience will potentially vary as it gets busy. The food was very good! Kids meals were generous in size. The cheeseburgers and fries are awesome, as are their wings. I enjoyed my experience and would go back.

Great time at John King Grill during our trip to Charleston. Good beer selection and highly recommend the smash burgers and beignets! Maddy, Trinity and Emily were amazing. Great service and everyone working there was so friendly and had a smile. Shout out to Emily for helping with a shirt for my dad.

Was visiting Charleston this past weekend and we stopped in to have a few drinks at the bar and stumbled upon this wonderful place. We sat at the bar with Sarah and she was so nice and knowledgeable about Charleston and gave us great ideas on things to do and places we needed to see! Gave us great food recommendations!! That king Charleston burger is a must!! She raved over the pimento cheese which is house made and I had to try it and I must say it was the best pimento cheese I’d ever tried, had a few beers and lots of laugh so we had to come back again but we wanted to try something different and I was skeptical but she assured me the shrimp and grits were the best on king st and that’s no lie!! The grits were amazing the shrimp grilled to perfection and that gravy was something out of this world!! So glad we got to hang out with her again laughing and having a good time! She is exactly what you want out of a bartender/server, with her great personality and attention to ensure you are having a good time. She recommended us coming back for the piano show and we did we had such a blast we sat with Faith and she was so nice and very prompt on keeping us taking care of! Well done JohnKing with your amazing food and glorious staff! This was a trip we will never forget!! Just sad I couldn’t give these ladies more stars! We will definitely be back and telling all our friends that this is a must stop at while they are in Charleston! Thank you Sarah and Faith for phenomenal service!!

There is a charge for attending the Dueling Piano Show, they give you a wrist band and it’s held on the second floor, so if you just want to eat and not see the show, you can sit downstairs. Had a Patty Melt with Fries, drank a Coke, and had the Beignets for dessert. Food was Delicious, waitress was very attentive, music was phenomenal. Want to make the Piano Mens night, please request Barbie Girl by Aqua 🤣😘!

Came in and hung out with Sarah at the bar she made me an amazing espresso martini and kept me laughing the whole time!!! Def will be my go to place while we are in Charleston for a good drink and fun time!!

Visiting Charleston for the weekend and found this gem. We had an option to sit downstairs or upstairs “upstairs had live piano music”. Downstairs we ate some bar food “garlic parm chicken tenders” and made our way upstairs, great service overall and everyone was super friendly.

I had the shrimp poboy and onion rings with a salad. The shrimp was delicious very tender and seasoned very well. Loved the house made honey mustard dressing. The best honey mustard dressing I’ve ever had and the waiter for our table (Trinity) was very thoughtful and kind for the crazy group I was with. I loved everything about the restaurant.

Having a dog we were limited to restaurants. As we past JK Grill & Bar the hostesses gave our dog a treat. We got to the place we googled and they had no outdoor seating. We turned around and went back to JK. The food and staff surpassed anything we were expecting. Bella is a fantastic waitress and the staff spoiled our dog. This will be our comeback place when we visit Charleston. The fans overhead keep you comfortable as well.

Nice little spot on the corner of John & King St. Bar service was great, the wait for food wasn’t bad and the burger & fries I got was yummy. I did not go to the upstairs piano bar but I could still hear the music, which was nice!

First time to Charleston for a girls trip. We parked out car,spoke to the attendant,for a recommendation for a resturant and to watch the Chiefs play the Jaguars. He recommended Johnny Kings, best recommendation ever. The atmosphere is cool,intimate bar area and the staff were inviting and super friendly. We were waited on by Sarah H.(cowboys fan) and she was just down right amazing. Charleston was getting just a little bit of rain(actually a flash flood) but the staff took care of everyone inside the bar,so it added to the atmosphere .
Beer was cold,food was awesome and the people in the bar were so cool. Definitely would come back!!

We ordered burgers, and they were fresh and delicious. Service was off the charts with great follow up and keeping our drinks topped off. Great patio for outdoor dining🌟

Myself and a group of 5 friends went to downtown last night. We visited about 6 bars and had horrible service. We decided to check out the dueling piano show at John kings. Went upstairs and was greeted by the best bartender ever. She was so friendly, attentive and made the best drinks. I believe her name was Diana. We will definitely be returning she was so much fun!!

My wife had a Chicken Caesar salad which she said was very good. It was very good serving. I had a Chicken Wrap which was good but the onion rings were excellent. Possibly the best I've had. Service was good and server was friendly.

This review is for Sunday, April 9th. This was unplanned meal and very glad we stopped by. We ate outside due to having our German Shepherd with us. The food was pretty damn good and the service was even better.
I wish I remembered her name because we talked about her when we left. Attractive Black female that also is a Flight Attendant. She was really great and went out of her way multiple times.

The BEST mushroom swiss burger EVER!!!!!! Their burgers here are so delicious, with an "off-the-grill" smokiness and rich mushroom and swiss flavor, they got my mouth watering even 2 weeks after visiting this place. I've eaten a lota burgers (haven't most of us), but this place ranks #1 imo. Great wings too.
Service was equally awesome!! Sarah, who was tending the bar + helping with the tables, was the best! She's amazing at her job and is one of the few people I've met who really wants customers to be happy and enjoy their experience. She was not only super friendly, helpful, and fun with us, but also with the other customers sitting nearby. We appreciated everything Sarah!
This is a real gem in Charleston for great food and service. The only negative about this place is they're (currently) charging people extra to use their credit/debit card - an unnecessary blemish on an otherwise awesome place. (Fyi, not all restaurants are doing this, especially outside of the downtown area.)

My husband and I went here during our anniversary trip and everything was amazing! Food was great and service was even better! Jhorman was our waiter and he was so attentive and nice! We will definitely be going back!
