Review Church And Union Charleston - Charleston

I liked my dinner experience here on vacation last month. Very beautiful restaurant. Wow. It was a busy Monday night. The service was good though. Drinks delicious. Apps good. We had 3 of the same steak dish at the table that were all supposed to be cooked Medium. They were all rare. We tried eating them but to chewy. The manager immediately tried to made it right. A round of drinks, some apps to tide us over until they did a re cook on our meals. Everything was made right and we had a great night😎

When looking up a place to eat I put in romantic. This place had wonderful reviews so I was able to snag a table for dinner for my husband and I. This place is loud. Definitely a place to gather (Big Groups) and chit chat. I did not get a romantic vibe out of this place especially if you just wanted to sit down with your husband or wife for a quiet dinner this is not the place I couldn't even hear our conversation. But the food and the service was absolutely amazing. I would go back for dinner but for a romantic quiet dinner for a husband and wife to have conversation this won't be the place.

Got there at 3 but the rest of our party didn’t finally get there till after 430. They let us stay for the dinner menu that started at 5. They have a middle day menu with limited items between lunch and dinner. We started with one server, closed out with her. Then ended with another. They were both amazing. The food was great. The pace that we revived our app, main, and dessert were perfect-enough time to eat/converse/digest. I never felt rushed. We will be back!!!

Stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner. Brunch ends at 330, and then they have a very limited menu until 5, so something to consider if you’re going during that time period. The drinks and food were delicious, and we definitely want to come back for an actual dinner soon. The space is very cool and interesting, and the service was pretty good. Worth the hype from the limited experience we had.

This is my partner and I’s absolute FAVORITE restaurant in Charleston. We use the tiniest of occasions as an excuse to dine here. The service has never been anything but stellar, each server we have had has made it a point to be personable and go above and beyond the average server industry worker. Out of the countless times we have dined at CU, we leave talking about new things we’ve come to love about the restaurant. All in all, this restaurant is fantastic restaurant and your time, money, and experienced will not be undervalued here.

Came here for brunch on a Saturday right as they opened. The atmosphere is incredible, such a cool space. Everyone on the staff was really kind. The beet and barata salad was incredible, but I wish I’d gotten something other than the farmhouse sandwich—not that it wasn’t good I just think I might have liked something else a bit more. I’d go back for dinner another time.

The place was boomin, so we ended up sitting on the patio, in July, but they went out of their way to seat us in the shade. We got to see the interior as we walked through, which is where the atmosphere is at. Our server, Grant, was awesome! He made great recommendations and catered to us even when he was in the direct sunshine. We ordered classic meals, but with a C&U twist. I ended eating some unpleasant looking stuff on my fried chicken, but was pleasantly surprised! I feel so fancy now! I would have loved to see more of the interior, but we were more than happy with our visit!

Church and Union is a great restaurant overall with good management and customer service. The apps and entrees are tasty. My main critiques have to deal with the deserts we tried. The white chocolate lava cake was definitely not a lava cake. Nothing came out of it. Overall it was ok. The peanut butter and raspberry desert tastes like a deconstructed pbj with fancy crumbs on top. Not too impressed with that part. Other complaints- tables are way to close next to each other. I felt like I was going out to dinner with the people next to me. Also, the tables around us had multiple errors with what they ordered and so on. Last personal thing, some of the stuff written on the cleaning is kinda crazy and odd.

This was such a great place to sit down and have dinner. My mom has been here a couple of times before and said it was a staple place we needed to eat at during our trip with another friend. And she was right! The service was so kind and our waiter, Rhett, was extremely helpful in understanding what to order and knowledge about both the church's and restaurant history! The church itself was gorgeous and the hand painted story ceiling was incredible - I could have sat for hours just looking up and reading the ceiling! From amazing drinks; like the unique Old Fashions, to a delicious appetizer; like the Kung Poa Wings that made my friend want to do the happy food dance, to extremely flavorful entrees, this is hands down an unforgettable dinner! It's hard to go wrong with food in Charleston, but to get the service and historic atmosphere at Church and Union enlightened the experience!

Such a neat spot with amazing food! The cocktail I had, Sailor's Delight, was perfectly balanced. For dinner, I had the hand rolled ravioli with sausage, 10/10 would recommend. I wish we had room for dessert bc the dessert at the table next to us looked amazing! Side note, if you don't like crowded places or sitting at a table with strangers (or really close) this is not a place for you but if I'm being honest the food is worth the table sharing.

I had the filet and it melted in my mouth! So flavorful. Also a very cool venue. Unique. Others had the seared scallops and the braided ravioli. There was not a bad meal at our table. We shared all of the flavors and had a great night!

Does it get more perfect than dining on an incredible meal in a beautifully refurbished church in Charleston? Recommend this spot to anyone visiting who is looking for the quintessential Charleston experience. Service is great, food and cocktails are phenomenal and the ambiance is second to none.

Fried chicken is huge and delicious. The ravioli a little too salty, Ceasaur salad was not like we are used to. Seemed like it had Balsamic in it or something else a little too rich. Lamb burger my wife loved ... especially the sauce.

What a beautiful restaurant. I would give a 6 star if I could. Food and drinks were great. The ghost drink was specifically good. The paddy melt was very good both there and for leftovers.

Amazing atmosphere and art. The food was equally amazing. The service top notch. A must go restaurant when you visit Charleston. My only warning is there is only one vegetarian entree option and they run out fast. I’d love this place even more if they had more vegetarian main courses.

Great restaurant! The interior is really nice and the food was excellent. The presentation of the food was also very nice. This was my first restaurant in Charleston, and it did not disappoint. Service was nice as well.

Really delicious food that's not overly complicated. Try the fried chicken BLT. Pretty delicious! They do have the capability to offer gluten free options, though I would suggest other restaurants for that.

We were in town for my birthday ! Made reservation over open table for party of 12. One of the best experiences we had in Charleston. Our server was Jake, he was very attentive even recommended good bars made sure I had a great birthday dinner. ALL of our food was amazing. Worth paying for and all good cocktails. Appetizer 10/10. Entree 10/10 Dessert 10/10 Atmosphere 10/10 . So beautiful inside, if I ever visit back would love to go during another time. SO SO GOOD have to go!

Very neat atmosphere. The service was very good and our server was very attentive and friendly. There were five of us, I had the braided ravioli with Italian sausage. The sauce was very flavorful, but I felt the pasta was undercooked. The others got steak and really enjoyed it. I would not get the ravioli again.

Food was great. Our server, Drew, made a mistake with our meal and was very apologetic which was great. The manager came over and apologized and gave us that meal on the house. People make mistakes. It happens, but the people who work here went above most restaurants to apologize. The food and atmosphere were wonderful. Would highly suggest this restaurant. The cauliflower was great , fried chicken was a generous serving, and steak was cooked well.

Absolutely loved this ❗️ The restaurant was so Pretty with Historical Stained Glass and the tales of MariTime patronage ! The verses of the Art of War which are displayed throughout the ceiling were hard to ignite and we kept reading passages over our dinner conversation. Service was great and food even better. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone ❗️

First off, the atmosphere is to. die. for. The food is impeccable. Definitely start with the ramen for an appetizer. If you’re looking for the best lamb burger you will ever have order that as your entree. You will not be disappointed. 5Church is my favorite stop when I travel to Charleston!

I cannot stop thinking about this place! Atomosphere, food, and service were all impeccable! Highly highly recommend!

The building is beautiful. We stopped by for a quick drink...decided on a quick glass of wine. We were greeted quickly upon arrival at the bar. After looking over the menu we decided on the chatcutrie board...the cheeses were amazing (I wish I could remember the names!) along with two salami style meats. Def worth checking out as it has great atmosphere.

Beautiful old church building with stained glass window turned into a restaurant and bar. Nice bartenders and good service. We split the lamb burger and it was fantastic. We will definitely visit there on our next trip to Charleston.
