Review Bill & Carol's Sea Shanty - Cayucos

Fun eclectic place with very friendly staff. There’s seating indoors and outside. The breading on the fried fish and chips was a little too oily for my taste, but overall food was good. They have a fair amount of options for land and seafood lovers.

The place was clean and cute, very welcoming. We met a group for lunch. My husband had the prime rib sandwich with skin on potatoes. The horseradish was very tasty and the sandwich so good. I had the teriyaki Stix appetizer with rice. It was so tasty. If we hadn't been so full, they have a whole dessert menu! I will be back even if it's just for dessert.

Fish and chips done right. Much better than many (most) places in L.A. Great service, very welcoming and relaxing. Super generous portions too.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars. The service and the food was amazing. Lucas was such a pleasure to talk to and was very attentive to our needs. We especially appreciated the care we took with his trainees. The restaurant is cute and loved the story about the hats on the ceiling. I can’t wait to come back.

Had great time. It is small and there is lots of overflow seating. When we went the staff was super busy taking care of the small dining room and side patio. We waited about 30 minutes for our table. The playground next door with the jail from 1847 where a good distraction for our toddlers.

I love coming here! The food is amazing! The service was good as well. I definitely recommend coming here when getting food in Cayucos!! This restaurant is 1000/10 😍

It was almost full when we arrived, but we got seated immediately. Excellent service and great food.

Friendly staff! The breakfast is amazing and more than I can eat and I eat a lot haha. I had the shrimp omelette and it was outstanding! Also have had the chorizo burrito and loved almost every bite (couldn’t finish it) Another great thing they are not only dog friendly but cater to them with treats and blankets.

The place is very nice and the food is very delicious! The staff is very kind and made our day! 10/10 recommend

Has become our favorite place to eat while in town. The food is amazing and the service is top notch! The environment is amazing as well so you will for sure enjoy eating here.

We just left this restaurant after a terrible meal with worst service. Took forever to get acknowledged and the people working seemed to favor the locals because we weren’t the only ones being ignored. My Cobb salad was terrible. $15 for a side salad with a few things thrown on top. It was wet and warm from being under the heat lamp. Tried to complain and no one acknowledged us till the bill came. No refills. It wasn’t busy. We weren’t being rude. But the wait staff, particularly the teen boy working were rude. $66 for 4 for a terrible lunch and awful staff is ridiculous.

Loved our breakfast at the Sea Shanty. Fun and eclectic decor, just perfect for this quirky diner. The potatoes were different and delicious. Everything came out piping hot. The staff was friendly and, the service was excellent. Would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Always a great meal. And those desserts are to die for. Mmmmmm good! Billy and Carol are the best!

We were driving south after seeing the seals and on a whim decided to drive through Cayucos...cute town! Saw a line out the door at Sea Shanty and had to stop...wow!!! Amazing food, our waiter was great! We ate and ate!!! Yum!

The food is really good. I especially love the grilled roast beef sandwich. The service is really good and the staff is friendly. The only thing I think they need to work on is the cleanliness of the place as far as the floors, tables, seats and booths. I think it could also use a remodel.

The food was good. The service okay. I say this because the service staff clustered behind the bar area and complained, loudly, about the customers they had waited on earlier in the day. One young lady in particular had a lot to say about “some old ladies” who she had to wait on. Somebody needs to let the staff know that this trash talk should be saved for another time and place...

Only been a couple of times. I’m not a fried fish person but my husband gets the fish n chips it awesome. My salmon tacos melted in my mouth. Wish we had room for desert they look delicious.

Went for breakfast and it was our first time there. Yummy food and great service. Nice selection of egg dishes, pancakes, french toast, etc. Try it, you'll like it!!!

The place to go for good food, friends, fun and good service. Don't forget your after dinner treat of the best sweets. ❤️

Just a down to Earth good food and service. And the Desserts are to die for (well, maybe not "DIE", but real good).

The food is great and the service staff were helpful. I only wished they had the table next to us tone it down. They were a loud obnoxious group. Other than that alway my favorite stop while in Cayucos.

We try to get to Cayucos at least once a year for the past decade. Each trip includes several meals at the Sea Shanty, which we love. The service lesves a bit to be desired, but that goes with the laid back style of the town. You should expect that going in. Food is great, as is tbe atmosphere. Price slant towards being a bit high, but the portions are ample and high quality. The only downside here was that years ago they used to make milk shakes which they no longer do.

We have visited this place for many times over the years and it hasn't really changed much. Great food and friendly service! Oh yeah, and the deserts are awesome!

Sea Shanty has the BEST fish and chips with superb homemade tartar sauce. I'm not big on French fries, but theirs are wedge-cut and perfectly seasoned. Their clam chowder is also very good, with hints of bacon. Friendly staff, great desserts, and hats from around the country hanging from the beamed ceiling make this one of our favorite Central Coast eateries.

Great seafood at a great price. Very surprised with the menu and the taste of out meals. Will definitely be back. The desserts are fabulously good �

Good place to eat. We ate there yesterday for dinner. The bus person accidentally spilled a little bit of water on my mother in law. She didn't want to make a big deal out of it but the bus person didn't have the courtesy to say I'm sorry.

I arrived at about 6pm. It was busy. I was by myself. I was told by the “hostess 3 times that it would be 15 minutes for a table outside. (It was well over 80 degrees indoors) at about 7:15pm I was seated. Ordered the fish and chips. The waitress was charming and engaging. The food was good, but not an hours wait and $16 good. I almost left out of spite. The building is rather kitschy with hats pinned to the rafters. Table management can be better. I did see the “hostess” pushing ice in the glasses with her bare hands. Because of this, I ordered a beer. Major party foul. Is it worth it. Not really. Maybe it was an off night. However, the next night I went to Martin’s just down the street and was seated right away. Food came out quickly and was delicious. I’d bypass the shanty and walk a block more for some Great Mexican food.

I don't eat sea food so I ordered the chicken sandwich. It was very tender and my boyfriend ordered the fish and chips and he said it was good. We also shared peach cobbler a la Mode, and it was fantastic. The waiters were very attentatve.

My husband promised me each time we go to Morro Bay that we have a meal at Sea Shanty. It never disappoints!

Great Fish and Chips!.. Do not leave this place w/o having the swamp pie, it is exceptional.

Best People on Earth. Bill& Carol. Great Food, Friends & Atmosphere. You can't beat it! Lobster is off the Charts& Desserts. Carol is a Kind Genuine Dessert Genius. Can hardly wait to go back! Blessings & Love XO
