Fantastic empanadas every time I've been to this place, with great coffee drinks too. Love that they also have alfajores cookies from the Wooden Table. My favorite has to be the chicken with that zesty sofrito sauce.
We tried chicken, beef and chorizo empanadas. I liked chicken. But, the beef and chorizo were bland for my taste.
Yum! My husband and I stopped by for coffee and ended up trying the empanadas for breakfast since they were there. The empanadas were definitely the best part - we were sad when the box was empty. I loved the Spinach, Sweet Potato, and Humita flavors.
The place is small but clean (and cute!), and the staff was friendly and patient with all our questions as first-timers.
It’s always nice to roll past a place and see a decent line, especially when you’re looking for a place for a bite to eat! One of the gentleman in line recommended the breakfast empanada which I ate so quickly I did not even take a photo to be able to post! Oops, but no regret LOL. Nice and flaky with quality ingredients. The next time I will have to try the mushroom and one of their coffee options. Super convenient location as well! :)
Cute little store that serves what in my opinion is authentic Empanadas. They have a wide variety of fillings to choose from. So far, I was told that the Spinach is a popular choice, I personally went for the Chorizo, and the Sweet Potato! Both are fantastic. The place is a little small, but this is a order, grab, and go kind of place because they only have 4 places to sit (2 inside, 2 outside). They also serves Drip Coffee and other espresso drinks.
The atmosphere is amazing. Love the brick, the colors, and of course the food. Couldn't be more happy with the service too!
Appreciate the fact that you guys are in my home town! Castro Valley always welcomes local businesses!
For a long time I drove past and thought to myself that I should try this place. I'm so glad I finally did two years ago.
The coffee doesn't need cream or sugar, though a packet of sugar brings out a nice caramel flavor in the coffee. They have drip, classic espresso and cold brewed coffees.
The empanadas are always flavorful, with a nicely baked pastry that isn't soggy and doesn't leak. My go to are Mushroom, Chorizo and Beef but all of them are seriously good.
The owners are friendly, clearly know every detail of their product and one of them seems to always be on sight. They seem plugged into the local community. If you're new to CV and are civically minded, I strongly suspect they'd be good people to know.
As I write this in December of 2020 I'm grateful for the touch point this coffee shop has provided me this year. It's been an oasis in a sea of crazy.
Spinach, sweet potato, and chicken empanadas were fantastic. Quick and easy to eat..would definitely return for more.
