Gappy's Pizza

This place has it all! We stopped in after driving all the way from Memphis, TENNESSEE and it was EXACTLY the break we needed. Extremely friendly environment, deliciously aromatic atmosphere, and absolutely INCREDIBLE shrimp scampi pizza! It was clear from all the regulars we saw while waiting on our pie, that this place is the best pizza joint in the area! We were even cutting up with the owner, George, and the other workers like we had know them forever and they treated all their customers the same way. From Jackie and Chayah, we will be back! P.S. My fiancée hardly ever eats pizza crusts, but she didn’t leave anything for me to clean up this time! 😉

Good pizza, standard fare for a NY pizza place. The first time we had the pies, they were okay; this second time was much better. We called in the order, and it seems they are in a bit of transition with a lot of new staff. Hopefully, this will help them to have an even better pie for the third time we order.

Thursday night we went (me and husband) to get two pizzas to take home, it was not crowded and it was kind of late, like 8:30pm. I have to say that the service was very good, very nice girls and guys and very attentive. But the guy who made our pizza should be fired. We got dry, burnt pizza, with burnt brownish cheese on top. The bottom and sides were dark brown to black , very hard and dry. When I ordered they said 15 minutes. But I waited 30 minutes, so the pizzas were getting burnt in the oven while I waited. There is no excuse since the place was almost empty and it was late. I was so hungry and tired that I ate it anyway. But if I give them the benefit of the doubt and go back there again, I am going to be checking the pizza before I leave, and if it is burnt I will just give it back and get a refund

We are new to the neighborhood and Gappys came highly recommended so we tried them. The customer service here is amazing, and the food is definitely comparable to some fancy restaurants minus the fancy price. Love the meat lovers pie, but we’ve also tried the lasagna, chicken parm and the burgers. each item on the menu is better than the next!

The food is always exceptionally tasty. The portions are extremely generous. Gappys is a staple of carmel and is one of my favorite places to go when I come back to NY. The pizza is, dare I say, the best in putnam. The prices are more than fair and the staff is always friendly. The turn around time for food is always quick. This place is worth a detour.

First time we came here. Picked up our food and saw the cooks taking shots with a customer. Got home, saw our pizza was not cooked all the way, neither was our garlic knots. The bbq chicken pizza didn’t even have bbq on it. Would not recommend. The only good thing was the Mountain Dew out of the cooler.
