This was our first time here!!! Food was amazing and our waitress Etta was sweet . She kept our drink full!!We will be back !! The stuffed shrimp hush puppies and corn bread hit the spot!!! The Mac n cheese was like grandmom made!! The kale and flounder was on point also!!! I can’t say one bad thing about this place!!!
We walked into String Rays just 10 minutes before they closed. If I know this beforehand, I would have never gone in....because I think it's extremely rude! Our server, Etta, refused to let us leave and totally made us feel welcomed. I got the clam strips, mac n cheese and cornbread. All 3 were delicious.
Who would expect such good food in a gas station!? We had crab cakes, steak and a chicken salad sandwich. Everything was great! And the cornbread was delicious too. Definitely worth a try!
Best Sweet Potato Biscuits Ever. Yep! Never had a bad meal there. Down home food the down home way. And watch the lady who calls the orders,, never writes anything down.
STINGING GREAT FOOD. We left DFW for a little ride...found a really interesting and tasty place that only the locals must know about...except for Paula Dean, Southern Living, etc....great pulled pork sandwich and the wife had an even better cup of clam chowder...worth the drive from DFW
Not fancy, just good, solid home cooking. Never have tried the barbecue because the seafood is always amazing! If you catch the drumfish on special, try it. And oh, the sides... Turnip greens, garlic mashed, rather sweet cake-like cornbread. Please try to decide what you want before you get to the counter, 'cuz they do have other people in line, thanks. And if you have room for dessert, bread pudding and crème brûlée are both better than the sweet potato pie.

God I love this place. Almost every time I head up north my first stop once I get off the bridge is into Sting-Ray's at the Cape Center for some breakfast. Whether you're stopping to dine in or just doing a pick up the food is always spot on delicious and service is typically fast even when they're packed to gills.
On my trip to Philly last weekend I stopped in and picked up a fried egg sandwich w/ bacon & cheese and an order of home fries. My order took about 10 minutes as they were about half full and out the door I went on up Rt 13 to Philly.
Always good, always friendly. I'll be visiting for many years to come!

What do you mean you haven't stopped by the Cape Center???. Ahh the Cape Center. How I love thee... Yes it's called the Cape Center... Don't call it Stingray's or they're going to know you're a tourist...
The Cape Center is a long time institution on the eastern shore. It can be found about 5 miles up the road from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. It consists of a diner and gas station / gift shop.
The diner is full of locals at anytime of the day or night and I'm convinced that many of them eat there more than once a day. The food is excellent whether your stopping in for breakfast in the morning, or lunch / supper later in the day.
One of my favorite meals there is the She Crab Soup with a grilled cheese sandwich. The bread slices are so large that it's practically the size of two sandwiches and the soup is a delight. If you're on move in the mornings I also highly recommend their breakfast biscuits or a fried egg sandwich. Either will definitely hit the spot!
Stop by, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy some excellent people watching. You won't regret it I promise!
Authentic locals place with homestyle cooking,
This food is ALWAYS bussin’(tastes great)respectfully and made from scratch. Everything is great on the menu. Going up north or driving down south you MUST stop in here to eat. Dine in or carry out. They have the best selection of old tyme candy. You will be so glad you did.
Strange setting, a restaurant in a gas station. But don't let that deter you. The food was amazing. Home cooked meals, amazing seafood. Friendly staff. The crab cakes were great. The apple fritter was great warmed up the next day.
Bottom line: I'd eat here again without hesitation.
Perfect for anyone looking for local color and fabulous, simple food at a decent price. I had the fried flounder, which was delicious and an abundant portion. Hush puppies were also excellent.
Do not eat here if you're looking for wine & cocktails with your meal. Alcohol seemed limited to beer. No bar that we could see.
Likewise don't eat here if you're looking for white glove table service. Maybe it was because we ate here at end-of-season and they were done with tourists, but the service was--shall we say--direct and kind of blunt.
But, we were in search of good food, walking-distance from our lodging, and Sting-Ray's delivered.
Tried their new Lobster Roll! Absolutely delicious. Their crab cakes, ribs, sweet potato biscuits, cornbread. You really can’t go wrong.
A great unexpected spot! We went to Sting Rays for breakfast on a road trip. The food was great! We had the bacon egg and cheese (one on whole wheat toast & one on a biscuit). I would highly recommend the biscuit. The service was great! You wouldn’t think you’d find such a great spot in a gas station - but totally worth the stop!
Wonderful food and generous portions. Had to take some home with me.
The food was very good. We had clams and shrimp. Both were battered and fried. The shrimp were butterflied and very large. Cornbread was sweet and buttery. Mac and cheese was very good. Would definitely stop here again.
