Review Giv Coffee - Canton

Small and cozy cafe, somewhat hidden along Albany Road in Canton, CT. My first visit today, but it will certainly not my last! The coffee is savory and the several “notes” of flavors are easily tasted. My latte is like smooth and warm velvet — it tastes like a Robert Frost poem in mid-winter. The instrumental jazz music and calm setting are perfect for reading a book, chatting with a friend, or quietly sipping on a beverage. GIV Coffee offers a momentary sanctuary in the daily grind of work. Giv Coffee’s mission of charitable giving is noble. The staff’s gracious service is an extension of the cafe’s commitment to care for others.

For what it is, five stars. Their Belgian Waffles could definitely be addictive - not your usual mixed-batter-poured-and-pressed into an electric waffle maker. These are so amazing in texture and taste they don't need anything on them. No syrup, no butter, no powdered sugar or chopped fruit. These would be found somewhere like Austria, where all baked goods are taken to the highest level. We brought two home, and the third opinion had equal praise and pleasant surprise. One is enough for a serving. The coffee is also boutique and the beans are roasted right on the premises in a separate building behind the café. It's sold in a variety of ways like lattes and cappuccino as in most coffee stores. My latte was perfect. My partner thought his caffè mocha had more chocolate than coffee but still enjoyed the quality of the chocolate in his drink along with his waffle. Bags of coffee beans can also be purchased with the Giv Coffee label, from espresso to decaf, dark roast to their version of a breakfast or house blend, plus a half dozen or so in between. We learned we were drinking the "Esperanza Caturra" being featured that day and bought a bag. Drinks other than coffee are on hand, as are logo t-shirts and local farm honey. There are pastries and an egg sandwich as food options. When I inquired about two lunch sandwiches I saw online in a menu photo, staff said they did used to have the turkey pesto panini pre-COVID, (and a grilled cheese), but they haven't brought them back yet. They should since they're open until 3PM, and customers might want something more lunch like in the afternoon. I love the French music that streams through the café. Soothing and sophisticated. Giv Coffee started in 2011 roasting 80 pounds of coffee in a garage and donated their profits to an orphanage in Nicaragua. Now having grown into their own retail spot and bean roasting building, they still donate part of their proceeds to charity. This is a small local shop that serves excellent coffee and some baked goods at reasonable prices. Atmosphere is simple, clean and cheerful. Outdoor seating available.

GUYS. this is my new favorite coffee shop in new england. i live in boston but come to CT often to visit family. this is by far my favorite cappuccino i’ve found in the boston or hartford areas. the espresso flavor, amt of milk (6oz capp) and amt of caramel was PERFECT. not too milky or sweet. espresso had lovely complex flavor. the vibe is excellent too, mostly booths and 2 comfy chairs. they have (some) indoor seating available now, according to their capacity. the baristas are super friendly as well. will definitely be coming back soon!

Excellent coffee find in Canton. The cappuccino was expensive but incredibly good. The store layout is very cool as is the ambiance. The staff is friendly and very efficient. Plenty of parking in the rear of the building.

An amazing coffee selection with an amazing staff. I sneak in questions about making coffee when I'm there. The team is very helpful and courteous. Ask about the coffee before you order. Trust me.

The best coffee shop around - lots of variety, complex flavors, perfectly roasted. I buy bags to make at home or by the cup when I am fortunate enough to be in the area, and both are the best around. Truly one of the best cups of coffee in the country, hidden here in Canton - not to mention a charitable spirit which shows through their brand and service.

The Matcha tea, Dirty Chai and scones are all my favorites from Giv😉 I love that it feels so cozy and they have great outdoor seating too which is great when I bring my pup! Dora loves watching the staff through the window!!😊

I'm really picky with coffee. My father-in-law lives down the street from the giv coffee shop and he loves it, so happened to have some beans at the house when I was visiting. Needless to say, I am now the proud owner of three bags of coffee. I especially love the flavor of the Inza decaf, which I normally wouldn't have tried, but happened to get a taste of one night with my in laws. This is seriously some of the best coffee that I've ever had. I will definitely be ordering more in the future!

Giv Coffee is well worth the drive from wherever you are to partake of their delicious and beautifully crafted beverages and baked goods! Every time we visit connecticut, my husband and I make a point to visit and get a cappuccino , a cortado, a bag of coffee or two...followed by an iced cold brew to go! :)

I love coming here! The staff is so friendly and helpful! Plus it's such a nice atmosphere. I've been wanting a coffee shop like this in CT for years now! I cannot recommend this place enough!

Giv has the best coffee, the perfect breakfast sandwich and a out of control waffle. It is a short hop off the bike trail in Canton. A good early morning bike destination.

They have the best coffee in the area and the prices are very reasonable.

I've been searching for a new place to get good coffee. And I have finally found it.

I live in Texas and I've never visited ya'll's coffee shop but I've had a hard time finding a good coffee here. I like coffee that has a well balanced flavor without a tangy, bitter acidic taste and I really don't like fruity infusions. Y'all's Freedom Blend is absolutely PERFECT. I drink at least 2 cups of it every morning. I get up at 5:30 for work and I simply couldn't live without this coffee. Thanks so much for your incredible coffee! If you ever decide to take the Freedom blend off your product list, please warn me first so I can stock up on it!

Tried the Pumpkin Spice Latte today....SO good! So impressed. Loved the homemade flavor..no syrupy aftertaste! Peter did a great job preparing it! So happy GivCoffee is close by!! :)

I gave giv five stars, the truly stand by their name (unlike many other coffee shops out there, Starbucks, what does that mean? Dunkin Doughnuts, which is a dangerous action to preform while driving) you order a great coffe, they Giv you a GREAT coffee!

My husband and I love going to this cafe shop. The atmosphere has a feel of home and the staff feel like family. The energy within the cafe feels warm, inviting and "giving". We usually stop in prior to the start of our day or to relax at the end of our day with a hot coffee latte and a hot chai latte. Another reason we so love this cafe is the mission that GIVE has set out to achieve of giving back to those in need overseas. The owners Jeff and Emily Brooks are the most compassionate and heart felt people you ever want to meet. Excellent all the way around. Delicious lattes and coffee. Added bonus, kid-friendly! Our 1 1/2 year old sat herself down with a children's book that they had available. We are so happy to have Giv in our neighborhood. Can't wait to try a cappuccino!

Finally local coffee roasters! Enjoyed a great cup of medium roasted coffee before work. The interior space does a great job of bringing together the warm feeling of rough sawn lumber and white washed pine tables with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. Plenty of natural light and a cozy 12 foot long window seat.

Delicious coffee, excellent service, beautiful and relaxing surroundings! Whether you want to grab and go or meet friends and relax it's an excellent choice. The scones were outstanding!
