Review Magic Wok - Calera

Short and quick review because really the only thing I remember about this place was how bad it was. I had the chicken on a stick appetizer and the Mongolian Beef. (Picture below). Chicken on the stick was ok, nothing special, would not order it again. The Mongolian beef was nasty. It had no flavor and tasted watered down with way too much sauce. Beef was swimming in the sauce and was chewy. Final Take: 4.2 / 10

Exceptional Asian Cuisine at Magic Wok. Quaint atmosphere but great service and your food is served table side and on REAL dishes and flatware. Each entree is served with a fluffy plain fried rice and a vegetable egg roll. Was here with my husband only back in November and got the Orange Chicken and it was also wonderful. This has become our go-to spot for Chinese Food on our road trips through Alabama. Now, you should build one in Fort Oglethorpe, GA! I’m sure you would get AMAZING business! I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for high quality Asian food at a good price. And the service is very quick. Thank you, Magic Wok! Until next time!

The kitchen staff is old school. A mom and pop and they make some of the best chinese i have ever had. They always give you a smile with your order. Nice, clean lobby too. I highly recommend.

WOW. Exceptional Asian food. We got the Sesame chicken and Orange chicken. Both were delicious, came with fried rice and an egg roll. All white meat chicken and your meal is served on a real plate with real flatware. None of that styrofoam and plastic forks and spoons. The price was good, too. We also found the restrooms very clean and the overall impression of the restaurant is very well kept. I wish we had one of these close to where we live. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for and appreciates QUALITY Chinese food. Will definitely return for a stop by on my next trip through Alabama.

During the “shutdown” I gave this a place a try. The prices were reasonable and the food was made to order. Now it’s just a box of grease old rice and horrible service. The The health department gave them a 89 during their last inspection. To be honest this greasy spoon needs to just close down forever.

The best place in Calera to get Chinese food. This place never disappoints us. I always get their teriyaki chicken, the sauce isn’t as heavy as most and has amazing flavor. Other members of my family have gotten the Mongolian chicken and cashew chicken. Both great dishes. Also would like to mention how easy it is to order. Teriyaki chicken is C.10 😉

Great tasting General tso chicken and sesame chicken. The chicken was delicious and flavorful. The restaurant uses white meat chicken unlike most other places. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The prices are very good especially for the amount of food you get.

My favorite asian restaurant right now. The best lo mein on the planet! They never disappoint! Fresh, large portions...always enough to take home for later.

Best chinese food in calera (Which isn't exactly saying much). But it's great for where it's located, and the food isn't terrible by any means.

My husband & I with another couple visited here the other day for lunch. My husband ordered the large Egg Drop Soup and received the biggest bowl I have ever seen to eat. It could have been shared with 3 or 4 people. He ate heartily and brought some home with him. I had the Mongolian Beef and added broccoli and carrots to my meal. It was very good and I took half of it home. i ordered two of their Vegetable Egg Rolls and found them to be quite delicious. Our friends split their order, Sweet & Sour Chicken and it was good too. Good service and big portions.  .

Fantastic food. Clean atmosphere. Steamed Dumplings are wonderful. Everything I have had is fresh. Great customer service. Would definitely recommend.

I was pleasantly surprised with Magic Wok in Calera. Had the Gerneral Tso's Chicken. The quality of chicken was great! It's hard to find a "fast food Chinese" place that doesn't skimp on the quality of meat used. Please don't change the quality! Flavor was good. Also liked the crab rangoons. They were just sweet enough. Service was nice and quick. We'll be going back.

Magic Wok in Calera, Al. Yesterday I order the Mongolian Shrimp and by me having speech impairment I couldn't say shrimp right and for some reason the cashier that answer the phone found it funny. That's not nice to laugh at someone with speech impairment. Food was great but bad customer service.

First time to try them, ordered delivery and it was well above expectations. The egg drop and wonton soup was great, sesame chicken is very tasty. The delivery person was also very nice. We will be eating here very often.

Great service, excellent food!. Every time I go here the employees are always polite, food is done quickly and always taste fantastic!!! The best Chinese food I've ever had, lo mein is good, general tso chicken is good, and the bourbon chicken and crab wontons are phenomenal! Everything I've had so far is well worth the drive. The price isn't super expensive and you get a ton of food!

The best around!. My husband and I decided to try Magic Wok after having a hankering for some Chinese food and reading the great reviews here on Urbanspoon. Boy were we pleasantly surprised! This place is wonderful! The whole place got a makeover and is more of a cafe style versus the old sit down style of its predecessor, Yoe Wok. The staff is super friendly, the menu is simple and to the point and the prices are very competitive to all of the other Chinese places in the area. And the food! The portions are quite generous and the food itself is to die for and easily has to be the best in Shelby county if not in central Alabama. This place is definitely a hidden gem in the area and a must try for every local! Four thumbs up!

The best around!. My husband and I decided to try Magic Wok after having a huge hankering for Chinese food and seeing all the great ratings. I love the new look and set up versus the old Yoe Wok and the staff are super! Now the food, the food is absolutely to die for! The prices are on par with all of the other Chinese places around but 1000 times better! We have never had such a great meal from a Chinese restaurant like we have here. This is the newest gem of the Shelby county area and a must try for all locals! Four thumbs up!

Delicious food. Huge upgrade over yoe wok that it replaced. Newly opened so service a little rough around the edges. Otherwise perfect.
