Got in early on a Sunday morning. Easy parking. Clean establishment. No bad smells. Simple to the point menu with solid timeless basics of Americana breakfasts. This ain't no fancy pants place, but a strong solid breakfast to fill you up and get on with your day. Fast service with nice waitstaff. Good place with good food.
what a great home town place to eat. there was a quartet of younger kids ut was amazing along with the food. friendly staff also. we were in town for a funeral. we not only had dinner there but went back for breakfast
The food was fantastic. I had the chicken fried chicken (tender and juicy), mac n cheese was really good (not your typical cafe style), I sampled the pork chops with mushroom gravy (tender and juicy, uncommon with restaurant pork chops), creamed spinach was delicious (I'm not usually a fan), REAL mashed potatoes!! I can't wait to go back. Jodi was my server and she was great!
Mama's is our new favorite place in Burnet. The food is good, plentiful, and well-flavored. But the most distinctive thing is the friendliness. Our favorite server, Jac, is a charming young lady who always has a smile. All the other servers are really friendly as well, but Jac stands out. We always have wonderful service and a great experience.
We stopped by on a Saturday at lunchtime, it was very busy. We were seated quickly and we're greeted by our waitress in training (Jac). She got our drink orders and said she would be right back to take our food orders. After bringing the drinks Jac came back to take our orders with her trainer. Both were very helpful in helping us decide (first time for two of us) what to order, even what add to enhance our experience. Food was prompt, Jac checked on us frequently, and the experience was amazing. After we were through eating we took pies home (which were amazing also), we also found out that our waitress (Jac) had just started that morning. Kuddos to Mama's for hiring kind staff that , even though they are new, still helps out the newbies that come in. We will be back.

Oh my goodness! The chicken fried steak was tender and tasty! Creamed corn was the best! Friendly staff and love the view of the park.
Amazing staff, great tasting food, beautiful presentation , down home charm, beautiful scenery. This is, by far, my favorite spot in Burnet. We love y'all!!!

The best booth in the house looking at the water and ducks and squirrel. I had a great patty melt also
Absolutely awesome. Fast service, best chicken fried steak I have had in a long time. Will be back. Really enjoyed the live music that was at a pleasant level for everyone to enjoy.
I loved this place, good food, great service, beautiful view of the water. Will be my go to spot for sure!
Fantastic food, great service and good prices. Will definitely be returning with my family. This is a hidden Texas gem! 👍🏻
No contest, best food and service in Burnet and maybe Burnet County. If you like chicken fried steak or chicken fried chicken, this is the place. We eat at Mama's at least once a week.
Excellent food! Fun staff. If you're looking for good all American food and generous portions this is a great place. The buttermilk pie was delicious. Family friendly and great value.
Really excellent food! Amazing chicken fried steak. Everyone enjoyed their food. I don't care how full you are, get the pecan pie. Just do it.
Go
there. This quaint creek-side restaurant a couple of blocks off the main drag
is definitely a great place to stop in for good quality food. The best dish at
our table was the pork chop plate, although the other plates were good as well.
The two thick-cut chops on the order were tender and juicy, and the sides were
good. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the venue is clean, bright, and
located next to Hamilton Creek Park for a nice stroll after your meal. We will certainly be back on future trips through Burnet.
I went here with my family yesterday because my Dad has been wanting to try it. When you walk in you get that small hometown welcome feel. We ordered the Chicken fried chicken, Chicken friend steal, Cheeseburger and the Saturday special - Chicken Parmigian. I was more than pleased with the special, very delicious and I HIGHLY recommend trying it. My sister said burger didn't have much flavor. Service was good. Our waitress was friendly.
The only bad things I have to say would be about the bread & drinks.
If the bread was served warm I think it would have tasted better.
My Mom had a frozen margarita, my sister and I had Mexican Martinis. The Mexican Martinis tasted very watered down with a hint of sweetness. I wouldn't order it again.
Overall the experience was a good one and it's worth giving this place a try!
We had the chicken fried steak, onion rings, creamed corn, fried green beans and a side salad. Chicken fried steak was the thickest and the most tenderish we have had In a long time. Onion rings weren't homemade but they were very good. Fried green beans very good with thick ranch dressing. Very large portions and great service from our waitress Deborah.
Besides Boomers, customer service died in our Love in the Time of COVID, but unlike a magical reality novel, deeper meaning cannot be derived from a surly server.
And yes, our server was classically surly, as in ye tyme of oldye, with hardly a grunt, nod or even a "want more water?!" long after we had paid and were making to leave.
However, despite the service as cold as the long since dry ice cubes in my water glass, the food, as long held, was indeed excellent.
I had the chicken fried steak and my wife had the chicken fried chicken. The breading was light, fluffy, crisp and freshly fried. The sides were also excellent.
The prices were appropriate to the quality and portions.
We had the cheesecake, which was of the dense variety.
All in all, excellent food, good prices and portions and 1950s diner style surly wait staff.
Portions are HUGE, food is hot and fresh. Chicken fried anything at this restaurant is a great choice. Don't forget to have buttermilk pie for dessert. Yummy!
We had a wonderful late lunch! We shared fried green beans w/ ranch. I had fries, coleslaw, fried catfish w/ great hush puppies! My Mom enjoyed her chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, nice salad & amazing cream style corn. THEN we shared peach cobbler & ice cream. (Their only down fall was the coleslaw, too dry & chunky.)
The blackened fish and chicken picatta were awesome. The cream spinach was a bit dry. They have a full bar. We watched a waitress bring a table next to us some chicken fried steaks and we asked if we could change our order...it looked amazing! You have to try the bread pudding...it tasted like the center, sweet, gooey part of a cinnamon bun.
My wife and I drove in from Georgetown Tx for a Sunday lunch. We both had the catfish (fried & blackened) meal with sides of mash potatoes, Italian green beans and french fries. The catfish was light & tasty as described. The sides were of the homemade flavors. Well worth the drive from Georgetown!
