Iowa Tavern

Went there for dinner on a Friday night as they advertised Cowboy ribeye steaks. We ordered our steaks medium rare. When the steaks arrived they were super thin. No surprise they were cooked well done since they steaks were so thin. The potatoes were a truly awful variation of sliced fried potatoes. We told our waitress that the food was inedible. She disappeared and about 5 minutes later the bartender came over and slapped our bill on the table. The bill was full price plus I had to spend 3 dollars to get money out of their ATM as they do not accept credit or debit cards. I had to go to the bar to pay since apparently if you complain you are then treated as if you are invisible. When I paid it was no surprise that the bartender was super nasty and said the food was excellent. A truly nightmarish experience. If you want to go out for a nice evening skip this place.

The Iowa earned a terrific reputation over many years as a great local business - then the current owner moved in. Sadly I can't recommend this place on any level. The kitchen is filthy, dry stores full of mouse droppings, a constant merry-go-round of disreputable people working here - just don't. Not safe for human consumption.

People were friendly but I was disappointed in the food I ordered a catfish meal for me and a grilled cheese for my son said it would be a 20 min wait I waited an hour then my catfish was dry almost like jerky and my son's grilled cheese was black and the cheese wasn't even melted in the inside. Wasn't even edible. Had to throw it away.
