This pizzeria is a nice hole in the wall spot with good service and good pizza made just how you like it. It's never to busy, and your order never takes to long to make.
I've tried the baked ziti, penne a la vodka and of course their regular pizzas. Always fast, friendly and delicious. Can't beat the prices either. Best Italian food in this area.
What I love about NYC is you generally can get pretty good pizza no matter where you go. But this place was BETTER than good. Heck, I'm pretty sure I could smell them the second I stepped onto the nearby station platform. I instantly craved pizza and wanted to float on the scent wafting from the street below. Plain slices were well-priced, as a plus. One bite and I was a happy customer. The crust was thin and slightly crispy without being stiff or crunchy. The sauce was flavorful, peppery, and slightly chunky. And there was that perfect amount of cheese that gives you that delicious, gooey pull when you take a bite. Honestly one of the best slices of pizza I've ever had. Would give 10 stars if I could.
The food is good but it's not called Vesuvio's anymore, it's now called Italian restaurant pizzeria.
When i was a kid i used to go here all the time i can safely say i been go here for over 30 years
Are they still open? This is my go-to place in the Bronx and I went last weekend and it was closed and I passed by yesterday and saw it was still closed. I never see them closed for that long. I’m hoping they are just on a well-deserved vacation.
If not, I will be devastated. I grew up on this pizza and I go almost once a week. In my opinion it’s the best slice in the Bronx. I’ve lived in Westchester for 13 years and I will still come here for pizza bc nowhere up by me comes close.
It’s a tiny, no-frills place but the pizza is quality. I couldn’t tell you about anything else they make (although my grandparents love their eggplant and chicken parm). The slices are huge (some of the biggest around), they don’t put a ton of sauce but it’s flavorful, the crust is delicious and the toppings are quality.
I hope they’re not closed. Anyone know?
Relatively good Pizza!! Beef patties, Lagsonia, baked Ziti are some of the things available at this location. Used to visit there often fore I had a friend near by. Then we moved to a location with nearly no pizza shop around!! Made me miss their average pizza 🍕!! Location is awesomely near train. Open 7 days but not 24 hours.
I remember opening day in the 1950s. A slice was 10 or 15 cents. Always delicious pizza. A great place to hang out with friends. Italian ices in the Summer scoped into a small cup was a great treat, better than ice cream. I'm glad they're still here and getting great reviews. I live in Los Angeles now, but will definitely stop by for a slice the next time I'm in New York. Oh the memories. It's true, you can take the boy out of The Bronx, but you can't take The Bronx out of the boy.
passing thru I ended up buying pizza from this place and absolutely delicious. They have a variety of pizza not just a regular slice. I had the chicken pizza, vegetables and was really tasty.
Not much for the eye but the pizza has to be one of the best in the bronx that I have tasted...and the slices are big enough to keep you satisfied...garlic knots are nice and soft also...
