Finally made it!!! And totally was blown away; the food is "casera" it has that home sazon!! Everything was amazingly well cooked and served. The family loved it and most certainly be back. All ready made reservations for a catered party!! Totally recommend it you won't be disappointed. Prices are just right, music is good you'll definitely enjoy your visit.

Joe Torres---What happened to your Place? Just over 2 years ago when we went, all the food we ordered was good. So good that we kept saying that we had to go back again sometime. Well...we finally got back there and brought our daughter with us. She, like us, was happy to have some PR food, you know, good old comida criolla. We started with the pastelillos con queso---and it was a good start. They were served piping hot, the crust was thin and flaky, the cheese portion was generous. We oohhed and aahhed over each bite since each bite brought back memories of eating pastelillos back on The Island. It all started to go downhill after the pastelillos. Once again, I ordered Arroz con gandules y cerda. The arroz con gandules was properly prepared, the rice was moist with plenty of gandules (pigeon peas). However, the chunks of pork were overcooked and dried out. I ended up leaving most of the pork behind. Our daughter got chicharrones de pollo sin huesos (sin huesos=without bones). It came to the table looking like your basic chicken strips. Most of the pieces were either overcooked and all were bland. My husband got bistec encebollada, his go-to dish at PR restaurants. He said that the flavor was spot-on but by now you can guess it --- the beef was overcooked. We got a side of platanos maduros. Do I have to say it? Well... I guess I must --- they, too, were overcooked, and obviously so as they were brown instead of golden yellow. My daughter pointed this out to the server, he took them back to the kitchen. When he returned, he said that the kitchen was out of platanos maduros and would we like some tostones? We declined because overcooked tostones...well...they're pretty bad when that happens. At least, we weren't charged for the platanos maduros. The other saving grace was the rice and beans. My husband and daughter each got a side of it as part of their meals. The red beans were prepared guisado style (stewed) and the flavor and presentation were both spot on. The white rice was properly done. What a disappointment, Joe Torres! Your website name drops when it comes to celebs who have dined here. I ask you---would your kitchen serve overcooked platanos maduros to Marc Anthony? We had to apologize to our daughter. After all, we built up the dining experience here and she was looking forward to it. Without prompting, my husband said that I have to update my Yelp review. That said, we do agree that we all liked the pastelillos con queso. For some reason, most PR restaurants in NYC don't offer them on their menus---so, thanks for that at least, Joe Torres. In closing, we don't think that we'll schlep up to The Bronx again to eat here---and that's really a shame.

My son and I stopped in for some dinner after wanting something different from the usual nabe choices. The entrance gives you the option to sit at the counter or some single person tables. If you plan to dine in you can proceed into the dining area which was a bit cozy but ok. Adjacent to the dining area is a loud bar. Thank goodness they have separate entrances. The bathroom is a single restroom for all. Idk, I always feel like establishments should have separate bathrooms for employees. The menu choices were good if a bit pricey. They were typical Latin options and one or two American ones so I opted for chicken in white sauce with a side of sweet plantains. My son went with shrimp in Parmesan Alfredo sauce, which would have been better had the shrimps tales been removed. Since its pasta it was weird having to use our fingers to remove the tails to eat them. Other than that both meals were delicious. The service was good and the music from the bar wasn’t loud enough to prevent comfortable conversation.

Great Food, Good Atmosphere, I got my food fairly Quickly and It Looked very presentable and tasted Even Better. The drinks could use some work Though. I ordered a Hennessey Colada and it was weak and cogniac was used to make it, but it definitely wasn't Hennessey

So happy to have stumbled into this place. My grandmother lives nearby and we needed a place to eat after a funeral. The menu is diverse and the food is delicious, like something you would have at home. The food and drinks are not expensive and the staff is very friendly. I highly recommend Joe's Place.

Food was great, the people were even better. Wonderful, friendly neighborhood place. We loved it. The desserts were over the top and my pernil had the exact flavor it should, crispier would have been nice, but it was just fine. Portions were so big, I took half home.

Was there Sat, 4.14.18 for my cousins birthday, a party of 22. Food was 5-Stars, authentic Puerto Rican food, all plates ordered... steak w/onions, fried boneless chicken chunks, the 2 fried pork chops were huge, fresh fillet of fish were all served w/white rice, fresh beans, sweet bananas, tostones, green salad was all delicious!! The service/wait staff was exceptional, ambiance was great. I will definitely be back!

The best thing about Joe's Place is Joe himself it's always great to have him greet you... it's like coming home.... the food is excellent always and the service is on point. I love coming here I actually travelled with my four-year-old granddaughter yesterday to bring her up there for her first visit. I was in Manhattan took a train coming and going just to go eat at Joe's place. I really love the food there and Joe himself..

Grilled pork chops are to die for...no complaints whatsoever on the food. Our server was very nice and accommodating. Our only problem was with another server who was cleaning the table next to us...he was spraying the cleaner on the table (instead of on the rag)as we were eating and the mist came over our table and food. When we mentioned it to him he didn't even apologize and rudely dismissed us and walked away. Other than that, it was great!!!

Joe's Place is like going into your Mom's kitchen and smelling everything good. It is one of my favorite restaurant's because of it's family atmosphere. Everyone is gracious from the moment you walk in. We had two different types of steak and they were delicious. I encourage everyone who comes to the Bronx, stop by and enjoy a relaxing meal. Joe, sorry I missed you last evening but we will be back.
