We've been getting takeout from here for a while and it's always been great. We decided to dine in one evening and unfortunately, the food wasn't so good. The water also tasted funny. I would steer clear of any beef dishes. Three of us ordered steak and it was so tough to chew, we sent it back and ordered chicken instead (which was tender and a much better alternative). The waitress was apologetic and she had no problem making the switch. I haven't fully given up on them, but it also will be a while before I go back.

I have always loved this place but keep forgetting it is there. The staff is always friendly and the food is always great and very fresh! Quaint little place tucked away in the plaza, one day I would like to try dining in. If you like good sushi, you will LOVE this place!!!

Wonderful food in a simple clean space. We have been longing for a good Japanese restaurant in Putnam. The other places we tried including our home town Majopac simply didn't measure up. Aji gave us the best rolls sashimi and bento box dishes. This was our first visit and we will be back!

There's sushi that is served in truly Japanese sushi restaurants, then there's good sushi at Zen in Danbury, and then there is the "other" sushi. Based on the reviews here, I thought I'd try the "Best in Brewster" (as stated on their website) Aji Sushi. Actually, there are no other sushi places in Brewster so, there's that. Ordered the Sushi Deluxe and an extra eel/avocado roll for take out. The place had a "old" fried smell. Was only there waiting 5 minutes and the mrs said she smelled it on my clothes when I got back in the car. The food - I understand how tough it's been for the restaurant industry lately and can accept the sushi pieces being smaller than usual. Zen in Danbury is doing the same thing and that's cool. As long as the quality is still good. Here the fish seemed fresh enough (that's why 2 stars and not 1) but the rice was not. If you truly love sushi, then you know it starts with the rice! This rice seemed to be like mashed up, re-steamed day-old rice with some rice pieces feeling more dry than others. The menu said "tuna roll" but it was chopped up like a spicy/crunchy tuna roll but it was neither, just chopped and made with the same funky rice. Same for the avocado/eel roll with almost no eel. The shaved pickled ginger and the small wasabi dab both had a sitting-out-too-long funky taste to it too. Same with the miso soup. Well, I gave it a try.
