Great little cafe a stone's throw away from the Museum of the Rockies- great place to visit. A good mix of an eclectic items for sale and a delicious unique cafe. Enter the shop and find a bevy of wonderful items for sale. I had my eye on a shopping bag and a bag of Ghost Town Coffee Roasters Honduras whole bean coffee. (FYI the coffee smells ah-may-zing!!!) Found our way to the cafe counter to order our lunch: Ahi Tuna Poke bowl with rice, BBQ Beef Braise on a bed of greens, and two drinks from the lemonade bar. What was that I said?!?! Yep, you read that correctly, A LEMONADE BAR! A choice of 5 - 6 various lemonades and teas. I finally decided on Strawberry Basil Lemonade and also sampled Ginger Lemonade. Both had the great tart lemon start with a subtle hint of the additional flavors, sweetened just right and finished smooth and satisfying. The two entrees were prepared well and delivered to our table about 10 minutes after we ordered. The BBQ beef salad was delicious- I did not sample but was told by the devourer. The poke bowl- my entree- was delicious as well, but it wasn't a traditional poke salad- the ahi was seared. Still a delicious dish with a mix of English cucumbers, grape tomatoes and red onion topped with a light citrus-y sweet sauce, just not what I was expecting with the seared ahi. The store, cafe, and dining areas were clean and neat. The staff was delightful and pleasant. The service was prompt, accommodating, and efficient. The bathrooms were clean, neat, and we'll stocked. A great find, a delicious meal, and you might garner an eclectic treasure.

The cafe is very nice, the food is good, not fantastic and it's all quite expensive. The staff is friendly and helpful, but they don't seem to know what the ingredients of their foods are, which is a bit worrying.

I have been to Sola twice in the past month for business lunches. Both times the ordering process was confusing, especially with a large group. There is no daily menu, only a visual of what is on the bar. Getting 4-5 people in to look at the selection and understand/ decide what to order took at least 10 minutes. It was chaotic getting the food, passing plates of food, getting glasses for drinks, walking back and forth to get drinks, trying to find napkins, etc. and it made for a very awkward start for two separate business meetings. Paying at the pastry counter is nice in concept, but I didn't need any pastries and had to wait behind 3 parties that did- that was an extra 10 minute wait for me and my party to wait. On a positive note, The pastries looked delicious, the workers that weren't behind the line were cheery, and everyone that had a honey lemonade liked it. General concensus of our group both times was that food was mediocre. I had a Poke bowl which was served on hot rice, resulting in tepid temps- not ideal when eating mostly raw fish. Sandwiches were huge- and soggy from sitting for too long, chili had beans that were hard- undercooked. The short ribs were dry. Our company wants to like this space since its so close to our office, but we will not be coming back.

A friend of mine and I have been having late lunches at Sola most Wednesdays for a couple of years. As long as he was able to go out, we took my father with us. Lora and I love the variety of the salads and the quality and richness of the ingredients; my dad, who had gone back to very basic tastes in foods was happy with the sandwiches and chips -- again, excellent in quality and flavors. The food cost is modest, even though the ingredients are often organic and always excellent quality. I also love it that they have large number and variety of gluten-free dishes and sides. The soups are great, sandwiches are great, desserts, side dishes, and beverages are great. I also love it that Sola displays art work from local artists, professional and young and in training. The displays change frequently, and the art is like the food in that it is always of good quality but displays a wide variety of genres, and media, including sculpture and photography. Jewelry, hair ornaments, caps, and greeting cards by local artists are also on display for sale. I wished in the past that their display area for posters for local events was more visible, and I now am sad that it doesn't exist any more. On the other hand, it is delightful that Sola has created a play area under the stairs for their young clients. We are so happy to get back to Sola on Wednesdays!

Confusion. While visiting Bozeman, I wanted to treat my relatives (locals) to lunch. They recommended Sola (they hadn't been there in a while). From the moment we walked in we were confused. We were presented with beautiful looking food with no understanding of how to order, cost or concept. Because everyone in my party wanted to respect my wallet (and didn't understand the pricing), they ordered the bare minimum (I did the same). What we got were fresh vegetables that looked good in small portions and tuna that had no flavor (poke). Two of the four in the party just ordered just vegetables. Even trying to get water was confusing (something is wrong with the water dispenser). I think I dropped about $60 (just for food, no drinks), and my party went away confused and hungry. I'm pretty sure they won't return. I think the best line from my visit (in response to my subtle hint about pricing) was, "just order the food and we'll figure out the best deal for you."

The food and staff here are wonderful. I recommend Sola to my friends and family every time they come to visit. The food is worth the price and they even have options if you need to avoid dairy! A great place to hang out with friends. Also try their waffles! Simply the best! I dontd like waffles and I go to Sola for theirs.

I would say Sola is a place worth checking out, and it kind of grows on you. They have some unique food items and a hip atmosphere. There are some small gift items available. Friendly staff. The desserts here are probably their strongest offering, and they are truly great. They have a self serve crushed ice machine for water and other cold drinks which is really nice and refreshing during hot months. If you have a sweet tooth or want a nice selection of coffee you won't be disappointed with Sola. Be prepared to pay just a tad high on some items, but not overly expensive.

It normally takes a lot for me to leave a negative review, but I’m finally at the point where I want to say something. I lived right near Sola for years and have tried to give it a chance over and over, but my experiences have ranged from “meh” to “why do I keep doing this to myself?” As other reviewers have said, the price is extremely high for the amount of food you get, food quality varies dramatically, and the service is iffy at best, with at least one item being wrong/forgotten about half the time. I stopped going altogether after the “visual menu” nonsense, but when I heard they had rolled that decision back, I figured I’d give it another shot. I thought maybe they’d done a more general revamp along with that, and I really do want to like the place. I ordered eggs and a waffle, which I figured should be simple enough. Nope. The (unsurprisingly small) waffle was completely raw in the center, as in still liquid in some spots. I guess some things never really change. I really hope Bozeman gets some other food options in the area soon. I like having a cafe-type place nearby, but the experience of Sola is never really worth it.
