Loud, boisterous, but laid back and fun with delicious food and at least one amazing brew. The interior of the Ale Works is wonderfully done and the lighting is perfect; This place really nailed it with décor and ambience. That said, this is a loud and high energy restaurant, definitely not a place for a quiet and relaxing dinner. The food was fantastic, cooked and seasoned perfectly, plated beautifully, and served hot and fresh. I had the Montana Meatloaf (with Idaho Bison) and she had the traditional Schnitzel. Both were excellent! I also order the Scotch Ale - this is a great brew that balances the heaviness so well you only focus on the taste. The only issue we had was the server. She seemed put off or something and avoided the table as much as possible. No smile, no follow-up on the meal, nearly missed our drink order. Not sure what the attitude was about and it put a negative energy on an otherwise terrific night out. I'd definitely come back though and recommend you check it out.

I wanted to like it, it seemed like a vibrant place. Beer selection was great, no complaints if you just want to stop and have a few brews. The servers were friendly as well. But there was two issues with the food, first, while the pork meatloaf did taste well, as it was also the dish that was recommended, the vegetables were nearly hard as raw, I told the staff about it and they kinda just said “oh that sucks”…kinda a weird response. The second was the meatloaf musta had something off, I won’t go too graphic on google reviews, but the next day, let’s say I was more in the bathroom then walking.

Tried Elk and Bison here for the first time!! Both were delicious and unique. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful, answering any questions we had. Overall, I was very satisfied with my visit and recommend it to anyone visiting Bozeman!

The food was absolutely to die for! I had the Elk Burger with the truffle fries, definitely worth a little extra! Went there for my best friend’s 21st, and we couldn’t have had a better experience. Our server was Almon, and he was truly phenomenal!!! (He seriously deserves a huge raise) Also, their huckleberry cream ale made this not-so-avid beer drinker leave happy. Most definitely stopping again when I’m back in the area!

There was a 50 minute wait for a table.. it was about 7 p.m. and we were coming from Billings headed for Helena.. so we were pleased we found two seats available at the bar. We shared a bison steak that was cooked to perfection along with a green salad with their delightful vinaigrette dressing. And of course each had a Beltian White draft from Harvest Moon Brewery in Belt. A bit noisy.. but we really enjoyed it! We were back on the road in about an hour!

Great food, lots of options on the menu. And a big selection of craft beers. Really cool location in the old train freight house as well. Of note: this is not a brewery, just serves a selection from various other local/regional breweries.

Montana Ale Works is a very good take on the upscale pub scene in Bozeman. The food was very good, and the Bison potstickers were unique with a mango habanero sauce I really liked. The drinks were tasty without being too sweet, and I enjoyed the menu options. I also tried the Montana meatloaf, which was fresh, and my girlfriend loved the fish and chips. What they do, they do well. There wasn't anything on the menu that I thought was amazingly superior though, although the price/quality ratio was very good and the portions were decent. I would have liked to see more entrées that are one of a kind, but that is personal preference. I would definitely recommend it as a nice place to eat with friends, but as stated earlier the wait times can be 45 minutes to an hour. This is a solid choice anytime for a relaxed atmosphere and quality meal.

Did not expect this level of food. Very cool vibe, great bar and beer selection, I figured that was the draw. But the food was seriously good. I had the meatloaf, and everything on the plate was fantastic. The carrots were perfectly seasoned and had just that tiny bit of snap left in them. My wife had the truffle risotto, and though we both agreed that I "won", it was great also. And the service was excellent, which I honestly did not expect in a sprawling atmosphere like this. Highly recommend.
