I visited Spikes for the first time the other day! This is a pretty cool hot dog spot. It was recommended by my best friend, and I am glad I tried it. We are both vegetarians, and they have a large handful of vegetarian options! The atmosphere is very family friendly, the décor is pretty awesome with a lot of old school photos of classic cars. Even the register counter has a car door for decoration! The restaurant is very clean and has a good amount of seating for how small this location is. There is little curb parking, so I recommend just taking the T or an uber to this location. The staff is very friendly and patient as I was indecisive in selecting my order. This place offers a lot more than just hotdogs, and I enjoyed my hotdogs so much I just might get more and try out their veggie burgers! I ordered the All American Veggie dog meal and it was so good. They have a good selection of fountain drinks, the fries were curly fries and crispy! The hot dog really spoke for itself, the size of the veggie dog was perfect for the bun and the toppings were not overloaded, but they were very generous on the amount. All for a great price! My guest and I shared the Freaken Hot Hotdog, it was super good. . . but needs come with a warning sign. That, or maybe my guest was right I’m just “weak.” The hours here are awesome, come in for a late nigh bite.

We love spikes. The dogs are super good on delicious buns. Try the German shepherd and the curly “poodle” fries. Additionally, we were babysitting someone with a bunch of allergies. The cashier was extremely helpful.

Our date night experience was so filling. WoW!! The options were excitingly overwhelming. The veggie dog and veggie burger with all the toppings were phenomenal! The lemonade was the icing on the cake... yummm!

I would give a 5 for just the fries. Definitely the best I’ve had in the area and the hot dog was great too! I’m not a big fan of hotdogs but the meat didn’t taste low quality and that’s a big plus

This review is more of a tribute as I heard this place will be closing soon. I had superb food when I had been there and I got to know that this place is around 20 years old which is a testament of how good it is.

When you take the hotdog business seriously, but not yourself! Spike's keeps the fun in the atmosphere and menu, along with a friendly, helpful staff. The Texas Ranger and Freaking Hot were exactly as advertised. Looking forward to future visits when I can try more of their offerings!!

Ordered the Southern Dog, Pizza Dog, Hey Now and ‘57 Chevy. Everything was tasty. All hotdogs are 100% angus beef! Will visit again soon.

Went here tonight to make sure we had one last Spike’s before they close their Allston location. I’m so sad to see them close, but the hot dogs are truly a cut above and served on the best bread. The fries were perfectly salted and curly and the lemonade was amazing! We love Spike’s! When I find myself in RI, I will definitely make a stop to visit. Thank you to the whole Spike’s team!

Been eating here for probably over 15 years at this point. Excellent vegan/vegetarian options. Amazing lemonade. Guaranteed good food, at a good price, and always come out quickly. Staff is always friendly/helpful too, can’t go wrong! Best hot dogs in New England!

I'm from NH but was in the Boston area & decided to give this place a try. I got the Lonely Guy Dog, fresh squeezed lemonade, and the Poodle Fries & my boyfriend got the Junkyard Dog without tomato's.
Overall experience was good. I didn't really care for my hot dog, but my boyfriend said his was really good. The poodle fries were also good but could have used more salt/seasoning.
The best part of the experience was definitely the atmosphere & customer experience. The walls are covered with cute fitting decor and the employee there was patient & listened well to our customized order. Sometimes places get the order wrong if you make too many adjustmennts, but not this place.
I would definitely go back and try some of their other options since they have so many! I recommend this place.

I used to stop here as a young twenty something after the bars. Always loved the staff, atmosphere and most of all the dogs. Menu is more than hot dogs but with so many custom dogs on the menu I don't think I ever tried anything else. I have since moved away and grown older...... today while in town I could not resist a junkyard dog. Went with my favorite the Texas ranger dog with fries. It did not disappoint. Even after all these years and hyped expectations it tasted so good,still my favorite dog. Ps the Fries are good to. Thanks Dave!

We've just been into Spike's and must say what an awesome hot dog shop. A very friendly chilled out atmosphere and the food is top notch! The staff are most friendly and appreciated our feedback. Highly recommended, we'll be returning for sure. It's a pity that some of the venues on the same street not able to afford the same hospitality as we have experienced at Spike's!

The hot dogs in this place are out of this world. Great value for your money. You won't find better hot dogs in Boston than this ones.
They can certainly improve if they manage to avoid using styrofoam containers.

I haven’t had a good hot dog in a long time. I stopped eating beef a few years ago now and I’ve sadly been stuck to eating disgusting veggie dogs since. My friend told me that Spikes Junkyard Dogs has the best veggie hot dogs in the world. I was dubious as my experience with veggie dogs has been less than ideal but I can confidently confirm that this small home strung hot dog shop has the best veggie dogs in the world. I ordered the veggie buffalo dog and it was so delicious, I had to sit and reflect on the experience for several minutes after finishing it. 10/10 recommend. Good job.

For my first gourmet hot dog experience, it was DELICIOUS. Good options to serve many different tastes; the bun is delicious; the honey mustard is some of the best I have ever had; and you get a great portion for the price you pay. Delicious!
