Review Chacarero - Boston

I got steak sandwich, and I am big on sandwiches. I ended up loving it! It is not bursting with many flavors. Instead, like an iconic song, it hits a few notes very well. Minimal with very high quality ingredients (esp steak and bread). Highly recommended!

This is a MUST when I visit Boston. I had the chicken. The bread is made fresh daily- it includes chicken, avocado, garlic spices, cheese and string beans. Absolutely delicious! The owner Juan and daughter Andrea are so welcoming and nice. It's a family run business that has been around for decades and I hope many more. Love!🥲

What a GEM. In a city that has so many average food options, this place stands out. The sandwiches is where this place really shines. You can either get chicken, steak, or a combo. Get it the “original” way or “BBQ” (meat is marinated in delicious spicy/tangy marinade). Simple and delicious. Freshly made bread and quality ingredients. You will not be disappointed. Go during lunch and see the huge line (which moves surprisingly fast due to the great system they have) and you’ll see what all the hype is about. Been going here for lunch for years and I’m so happy we have this place running strong.

One of my favorite places for a sandwich in Boston!! They have a totally unique, Chilean sandwich they offer, and it’s amazing…nothing else like it anywhere in the north east! It’s family owned and run, and has been around for over 20 years. I cannot recommend this place enough! The chicken is moist and flavorful, served with guacamole and green beans, tomato and Muenster cheese, and a sprinkle of salt, all on a pillowy soft home made bread. Do yourself the favor and be sure to check this place out for lunch!!

Tasty sandwich, $15 total but a generous portion. The green sauce is delicious, worth asking for some extra. You order at the front and customize at the counter.

All I gotta say is that I hope the Chilean style hot dog sticks around on the menu. That thing is amazing and the people behind the counter rightfully hyped it up! Been here before for sandwiches, highly recommend those as well! EDIT: It's a year later, and I fully stand by this review. Adding pictures of the hot dog.

First time here and I ordered the large combo bbq sandwich. It was so big I thought there was no way I would finish. After the first mouthwatering bite I devoured the whole thing with ease. So good. And everyone there was so lovely and welcoming.

Chacarero is this amazing place that, unlike so many restaurants, doesn't get worse with time. Their sandwiches are as amazing as when they opened many years ago, and they never over expand the menu. One of the tastiest lunch spots in downtown area, well worth few minutes in a queue.

Tasty lunch sandwich, but the sweet potato fries were a bit soggier than I like. Perhaps they'd be better if I eaten at the restaurant? The sandwich bread was fine, a the beef was unremarkable, but far from bad. The most noteworthy thing about the sandwich was the sauce. Basically the sauce was a little sick, but not too much by any standard. It had a nice acidic bite, and a little citrus. Overall quite nice and a little different from the typical Mexican tomato-based sauces. Definitely generous portions; 1/2 of my small sandwich will be lunch tomorrow!

Chacarero has been a landmark in Boston. The food isn't the same as years past but still good. Nice change from my usual stops. I'll have to add it to my rotation.

Fantastic sandwiches here. The line is long but it usually moves pretty fast, and they make the sandwiches quickly. Service is great, interior is clean and prices are very reasonable. The large sandwich order is enough for two.

I walked into this shop one afternoon, not really knowing what to expect. The menu was pretty simple, short and plastered on the wall above the grill area. I was really confused as to what the differences between the various types of chacarero were, but the hostess patiently described everything to me. It didn't take long for my order to be processed and put on a plate. I came in not knowing what a Chilean sandwich was, but now I know that its amazing! I would definitely recommend getting it with the green beans, tomato, avocado spread, muenster cheese, and the medium spicy sauce. Basically everything. Take a seat and enjoy your sandwich. The only thing is to know that you'll be paying at least $10 for a single (but filling) sandwich.

Neat place. Great sandwiches. Very simple and elegant. Fast service. I tried the barbecue chicken Sandwich and the Beef sandwich. They were both very delicious and had unique toppings including green beans and sweet bell peppers. I recommend this place if you’re looking for a quick local bite with decent Boston prices. Very convenient location.

Food is always good here. Haven’t been in a few years, but the sandwich is exactly how j remembered it.

If you see a line out of some random door on a side street in Downtown Crossing, it's probably for this place. Chacarero is one if those awesome lunch places that only sell a few things, but have perfected the execution. They sell a Chilean sandwich known as, not surprisingly, the "chacarero". They really broke the creativity bank on coming up with a name. Most of what they sell is the chacarero sandwich, in one of several combinations: Chicken or beef (or both), and Original or BBQ. The original sandwich starts with your choice of meat, on a specially made bread. It's thinner than most loaves, crunchier on the outside but still soft on the inside. It's thicker (in texture) than a normal piece of bread. They add on tomato, green beans, muenster cheese, and some seasoning. If you are suspicious of green beans on a sandwich, stop right there. Sure, it looks like a parent trying to sneak vegetables into their kids' hamburger, but vegetables are good for you, stop running away from them. They add a crunch to the middle of the sandwich, where everything else is soft. They add a spicy sauce that gives it a little kick without becoming an eye-watering neusance. A lot of people like it spicier, just ask for "extra spicey" while they make it in front of you. A thin layer of avocado is spread to the top half of the bun. It acts almost like a mayonnaise, bringing the whole sandwich together, and controlling the heat of the spicey sauce. The BBQ sandwich is nearly the same, but it has slightly different seasonings and comes with cooked red peppers. This isn't "BBQ" as in what you usually think of, this is much more subtle. It's not smothered in any sort of sauce, it just seems to be seasoned a little differently, and comes with a slightly different configuration of vegetables. Chacarero is a little in the expensive side, you'll spend around $9-$11. The small size is plenty of food, no need to get the large unless you're *really* hungry. The line will be long, but they go through it fast. Don't be deterred if the wait extends past the doorway. And PLEASE, don't shuffle your position in line, even if you are with your friends. The entire system relies on a first-in-first-out model, the whole thing comes crashing down into chaos if one person skips in line.

I've been here literally every time I've been to Boston. The best clean sandwich I like the most. The vegetarian French beans sandwich is the absolute best, better than the chicken. I would go a little spicy with their home made green chilli paste which just gives the extra burn kick. Awesome buns as well. Different likeable flavors all around.
