Review Dbar - Boston

Jea Kim
A serene escape from the hectic vibe of the Dorchester neighborhood. Recently came here to enjoy the last bit of good weather on their patio with our dog. Their quaint patio offered a good respite with plenty of seatings, and being familiar with the finesse of Boston Urban Hospitality's portfolio, I stepped in with high expectations. A noticeable departure from their other two upscale spots, Dbar's ambiance resonated more with a laid-back, casual vibe, while the menu hinted at elevated tavern fare. We started our evening with the Veracruz Braised chicken flautas, which aptly mirrored crispy spring rolls, albeit with a Mexican twist. However, the star appetizer for me was the lump crab cake. Bursting with rich crab meat, it danced with the creamy textures of avocado and remoulade, and the grapefruit zest lended a refreshing tang to every bite. For our mains, we had the pork loin and the poke bowl. While the pork loin was a tad dry, the accompanying pumpkin spaetzle made up for it, offering a soft and chewy counterpart. The poke bowl, with fresh tuna and salmon, echoed familiar notes of spicy aioli and sesame soy dressing. It was reminiscent of poke bowls from typical sushi restaurants, but I still enjoyed it. Given Dbar's location, frequenting might require a bit of an effort. However, it undeniably offers a lovely patio ambiance and a good dining experience. While I might not venture here again anytime soon, for anyone in the neighborhood or looking for a patio experience, Dbar is worth a try.

Dbar is always a good time. A local neighborhood spot that has flavorful food with delicious and smooth drinks. The best dish of the night was the pork belly mac & cheese. The sound of the pork belly being cut was enough to stop me mid conversation 😀 The burger was ok. The calamari was a special which was a sweet chilli, papaya salad situation that was good. The mussels were meaty and the tomato base sauce was good it was just missing the bread on the side. They didn't have any dessert options when I asked but I honestly didn't need any. I left feeling satisfied and had a great time dancing as well.

Talk about hospitality, dbar was so wonderful. Rob was amazing, he got us seated in the beautiful outdoor patio and proceeded to drag over 3 heaters to make sure we were warm and comfortable. Since the the server inside was slammed he took our orders and was our server. His suggestions were delicious and on point. Despite the freezing weather and his tshirt, he checked on us frequently and made sure we were cozy. We had the "grow a pear", "spicy orange margarita" and sangria and they were absolutely delicious drinks. Not too sweet and perfectly spiced. I'm very picky about my cocktails especially about the sweetness. These were delicately balanced and had a lovely heat that was perfect for the chilly weather outside. The apps: burrata, mussels and calamari. Very good! The mains: chicken enchiladas and steak were excellently cooked. Beautiful. I don't usually leave reviews. But if the service and product are more than praiseworthy, they deserve recognition.

ADDED UPDATE AT END. Been coming here for 15 years and so glad they made it through the last few years. Neighborhood favorite and we even had our wedding dinner here years ago. BUT, if a customer wants aioli, just make it. Third time we have asked for a side of it and were told we don't have it. Chefs, it's mayo and spice, which make all the fries nice. UPDATE: aioli is back on and it was delish!

My friend and I went to dbar for breakfast on Sunday. The drinks menu is twice as big as the food offerings! I just had coffee, so I can't testify about the Bloody Mary, but, man, so many drink choices. The cheddar and bacon omelette was good but oh Lord, those breakfast potatoes were amazing! Perfectly crispy outside, fluffy inside. The bathroom is a bit odd. Multiple stalls, co-ed. Hmmm. Dark interior, cozy. Would certainly return!

drinks and food were good. then, it turned into a club, which was a great surprise for a visitor like me.

Loved the outdoor seating!!! Cool vibe and plenty of heating lamps. Light over table is also a heater. Food, wine and service were amazing. Oh, it was 32 degrees that night!

I love everything! The fellow patrons, the bartenders, the karaoke host, the food, the drinks, the setting, yes I mean everything! I've been here more than a few times and it has been a great experience EVERY time. On a less crowded weeknight, its quaint and the food is delicious! I cant say enough good things about this place!!

Go for the show tunes on Tuesday night starting at 9 ... show up after 8 ... order drinks, appetizers and dinner until 10 ... show tunes start at 9 and you can make requests. Stay for show tunes, music and videos until closing. A great night out! Great Mac and cheese with home made sausage. what more could Amyone say! Go here

Loved everything about this place but one thing: dont sit people near the bar if there's patrons standing by the bar. Of course theyre going to get loud, and of course theyre going to back up into you. Theyre there to have a great time too, but if youre there to grab some amazing food it ruins the experience. Def loved the moqueca and cubano sandwich. The fries were awful though. Oily, limp, and soft.

We love DBar and have dined hear many times. I brought my son for dinner on a Tuesday evening. We were excited when we saw several new options on the menu. The only disappointment was the queso fundido. When I have ordered this before in other restaurants it is a baked queso (cojito) cheese that is served out of the oven. DBar serves what looked like cheese whiz (room temp) with what was supposed to be “fresh chorizo” but did not taste like much. Not very good. The braised beef enchiladas were good. As always, the service was excellent. We will be back but this experience was not up to the norm for DBar.

The menu is limited, but the discerning diner will easily find an interesting dish and/or appetizer on which to dine. The dishes have complex tastes and are made with unique recipes as are many of the drinks. Service was very good and our waiter, Mookie, kept on top of our needs without hovering. I highly recommend this place good food, good drinks and plenty of atmosphere for a nice, discreet date night.🌈

Began with a very good tequila sangria. Had the Santorini salad which was excellent and the duck grilled cheese sandwich. If you love duck, then this may be worth the try. Didn't have dessert. Dessert menu was a bit limited and most came with ice cream which I cannot eat. Overall a great dining experience.

I just love the chef and the staff at DBar. In two years we have never had a bad meal. The wine selection is great and we have made it a point to go whenever folks are visiting, special birthdays, anniversaries and just when we want a great meal. This place is for foodies as the complex favors and combinations really always astound me. How could this meal be so good. Artistic and flavor and thankfully it will not break the bank like other new restaurants in the area. You will become devoted like me. Try them for dinner and see!

Sadly, I'm not a fan of the new menu, either the food itself or the treatment. The printed menu is one sheet inside a plastic sleeve; it's way below what I have come to expect from dbar. The food remains good, but, again the menu is disjointed. Fried chicken sliders alongside Vietnamese Sriracha French Fries, Lobster Roll, Bolognaise, Tacos and Hanger Steak; is trying to do too much. The staff are - as always - cute, attentive and fun.

I Had a great time at Dbar , food was great the music was on point. I usually don't write reviews about anything but if you looking to a new place to go where people are welcoming and the great time will be guaranteed u should defi give Dbar a chance.

Great place. I have been here before but never to eat. We went for Sunday Brunch and it was perfect. Great service, meals were exceptional and cocktails were top notch! Our waiter Yuri (hope I spelled correctly) was very tolerant of my constant story telling. We had a great time and I have already recommended Dbar to friends. Cannot wait to return. Thank you!

I simply love Dbar... always a fun crowd, great music, fun theme nights and just an overall good vibe. My only wish is the venue were a bit larger or perhaps laid out a little different like remove the row of booths near the bar and switch them to tables that can be removed in the evenings. Regardless ... it's still 5 stars in my book. Always a fun time

Great place. Awesome staff. Excellent menu. Go there all the time and it's a really great option for anyone looking for comfort food or unique cuisine options (love when they have boar and rabbit and other options you don't get elsewhere). Bob
