Review Summer Shack - Boston

Went to a drag brunch and had an absolute blast. The cinnamon rolls were decadent. The oysters topped with Tuna... I could eat those forever. Entertainment was phenomenal and so creative. Will definitely be coming back

After walking in it instantly was a cool atmosphere. They have a lot of vibrant wall art and there’s even a spot to look at live lobsters. We ordered the clam chowder, crab potstickers and the fish and chips. All were good. I personally am not a lover of fish (not from Boston) but my wife loved the fish and chips. I could tell the fish was very fresh. The fries were delicious. Overall a positive experience for a fair price

Food was delicious and atmosphere is cool with a calm ambience. But the service just sucks. However I think it’s just the server we had. He didn’t seem like he understood English well. We ordered stuff clear as day but when it came out it was wrong. It was like he didn’t hear us or understand us. I clearly asked for truffle fries and even pointed to it on menu. But he brought my regular fries. Same with my wife’s order. She ordered a burger with onions and clearly asked him for onions. No onions came out. Then they brought us pickled onions. If you have choices then tell us. Maybe I’ll come again and pick another waiter if I get that same guy again. On a side note the whiskey pour was generous. So that’s a plus.

Love the atmosphere. Clean, casual sports bar feel. With good food. This wasn’t luxury fine dining. The oysters and lobster were high quality. Chowder was tasty but a little runny for my taste. The warm lobster roll and chips were good but lacking seasoning. A little bland for me. It was good. I would come back for sure.

Went there with friends, everyone's drinks were great. We ordered most of the appetizers off the menu, it was my friends first time there. All the food looked as good as it taste. It was great trying new things, will go back for more food like lobsters and crabs.

Had one of the new Tin Fish selections (Spanish in olive oil) and oh my, that was very tasty! Would definitely get again and have been telling people about it. Wish the staff had been more knowledgeable about what it contained but I understand it was still pretty new to the menu

Made my way in here as I was looking for some authentic Boston lobster. Very relaxed and fun atmosphere with excellent food. Glad I picked this place! Would highly reccomend for a good time.

Buds and I are in Boston for the weekend. Looking for a great place to grab a beer, some oysters, and some lobster rolls close to our hotel. Food was really good. Lobster roll with butter is great! Oysters are so good as well. We sat at the bar, the bartender was a rockstar. What a great place with awesome atmosphere. Really matches the city vibes. Boston is really an amazing place to visit.

We came to Boston from Florida for a 3 day getaway and my sister picked this place to celebrate her birthday. It was AMAZING! We couldn’t have selected a better place for food, atmosphere and exceptional service!! Antonio rocked it!!! From the best clam chowder, fresh oysters to spaghetti with steamed clams! Just the best!! You must put this on your go to place to eat in Boston!!

Oysters were good. Lobster roll was one of the better ones that I've had. Service was a bit slow but wait staff were very friendly. I would dine there again.

I had eggs, bacon & hashbrowns with soda. Sister had eggs benedict & beer. She said hers was great. Mine was good, not great. Get there at least 30-60 minutes before showtime to order food, eat and start drinks. We saw the 2pm show, 2nd show of the day. Lip syncing, not live singing. No stage, they just dance around restaurant to different tables & areas. Someone goes table to table before the show to sell $1 bills, for you to tip the singers with all through the show. Couple of Bachelorette parties and several people celebrating events. Great crowd and definitely a fun time. Our show was Disney villains themed. Different themes each week or month I think. Not perfect total pros at that price, but great costumes, good music and plenty of dramatic fun! They really do their best to make it fun for everyone there. Kids allowed too. Great casual fun brunch/lunch trip or girls trip. Definitely recommend. Our tickets were table seats for $20 each. $15-$30 for meals (mine was $17) +drinks on top of that. And bring at least an extra $20-$40 each for tipping performers. I really enjoyed it! 😁

October 10, 2023: Finally tried the butter pan-seared lobster, the large-sized version. Had the kale instead of the corn. Amazing. Delicious, but couldn't get all the meat out. Needed shellfish scissors or the restaurant should have better cracked the lobster. The shellfish cracker the restaurant provided couldn't crack through the tough shell. I have been coming to Summer Shack since the very beginning. This was the first time I ate at a standard table instead of at the bar. The regular table was much more comfortable than the bar seats. My server was lovely, but he struggled with English comprehension. I asked for seafood scissors and he said he didn't know ehat those were. I then asked for a shellfish pick and he brought over several toothpicks. Old Review: Superb food and service. I've had the fish and chips, raw oysters, clam chowder, ice cream, and they are all great. Nice ambience and comfortable seating.

What an awesome surprise! We got in late to Boston for a work trip and just wanted lobster. ALL THE LOBSTER. This place looks like a chill beach themed diner, but the food is just absolutely superb. Lobster potstickers, perfect. Tuna Crispy Rice, devoured it. We got warm lobster rolls poached in butter, and I saw God. From start to finish, the food was a hit for our entire parity of 10.

The restaurant is dimly lit with ample seating in a good neighborhood with things to do. Service was good and our waiter was attentive. I didn't get a picture of the cornbread, but it was amazing with the molasses butter! I wasn't too hungry so I ordered the spaghetti and clams. The white wine sauce was really good and I felt like there was a good ratio of clams to spaghetti. Afterwards, we went bowling next door. The hallway leading to next door needs a deep clean. I would come back here for seafood. The menu is reasonably priced and I believe it's a little more limited after the pandemic to keep options fresh.

Lunch was great! Got some sushi and it was delicious and presented beautifully. A friend got shrimp that were way overcooked so I know the consistency isn't there. But if you go with the sushi, that's the right choice. Also the coconut custard dessert was excellent and made in house. You have to ask for a mocktail (they aren't on the drink list) but the mock mojito was refreshing. The atmosphere in the outside area isn't the best since it is right in a parking lot, but it was surprisingly quiet considering the location and well protected underneath the tent. Would go again.

Initially, all the construction in the area outside of this Back Bay restaurant put us off and we almost didn’t go to Summer Shack for dinner. Fortunately, we went in and were immediately happy to find a clean, comfortable, fun, spacious setting. There are booths, tables and bar seating to choose from. We had a dozen delicious oysters, a few local beers, delicious clam chowder, and several different seafood dinners. All the food arrived piping hot and well prepared. The plates all had nice portions of vegetables. One meal came with a wonderful risotto. There were 3 of us and we all had great dinners. We recommend it. I noticed that the restaurant manager was really engaged and attentive. He was greeting people and hugging babies, checking in on diners, moving around the restaurant making sure everything was running smoothly. Very professional! The waiters and other staff were all positive, capable, and attentive. We had spent the day exploring Boston and had walked for miles all over Back Bay. Finding a nice seafood restaurant right at the end of Back Bay (close to Harvard Bridge) was a nice surprise and we highly recommend Summer Shack. It’s great for families, dates, and just sitting at the bar if you are solo. Enjoy!

The highlights were the clam chowder, bloody Maria’s, a and griddled cornbread with molasses butter. Unfortunately some of the raw clams were off and the pasta was too salty, even upon reorder. Our server seemed inexperienced, he just plopped the bill in front of me without offering another round of drinks or dessert.
