Review Ruth's Chris Steak House - Boston

Tracy Carron
This was our first time at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. We are celebrating our anniversary with a weekend in Boston and looked up local steakhouses and this one seemed like the right one. We made reservations then found out it was directly across from the hotel we were staying at (Omni Parker House- also would recommend) AND the restaurant is located in the old city hall! It’s gorgeous! We were greeted by such kind and welcoming staff and our server was sweet and charming. They knew we were celebrating our anniversary and went the extra mile to decorate our table and leave us an anniversary card. The food was amazing! Our steaks came out sizzling on our plates! So flavorful and cooked perfectly! We strongly recommend this place!

If you’re looking for a high-end, “chain” steakhouse in the Financial District- you have to give Ruth’s Chris a visit. Ruth’s Chris is known for their signature steaks cooked to perfection with plenty of butter and served sizzling on a 500-degree plate. They’re also well known for their classic sides, like creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. You’ll also find a solid selection of appetizers and fresh seafood! We decided to stop in to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner. We are not big fans of Turkey, we find it dry. So, I decided to visit the location inside of “Old City Hall”. The location is certainly unique and the architecture is absolutely stunning. The location is located right inside the main entrance of Old City Hall. The interior boasts gothic architecture and rich woods. We specifically booked our reservation for the main dining room. They do have a dining room in the front, back, as well as downstairs. We were seated relatively quickly. The hostesses seemed to have an issue pulling up and “confirming” our reservation, but this was fixed promptly and we were guided to our table. It was in the main rear dining room, as requested. It was a table for two and everything was set perfectly. We both decided to go with Ruth’s Classic Prix Fixe Menu. That comes with a starter- Caesar Salad, Steakhouse Salad, or Lobster Bisque. I opted for the steakhouse salad. The salad was crisp and fresh. The portion was also very generous. However, it lacked any “toppings”, for a lack of a better term. There were maybe two-three grape tomatoes halves. They also way overdid it on the red onion. I was lucky to find two-three mini croutons. They could certainly improve the salads. Next, you choose your choice of entree. They offer both surf and turf options. Given it was Thanksgiving, they also offered a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with oven-roasted turkey, stuffing, gravy, and more. We are not fans of turkey, but seeing it come out it was a good size portion and many folks had leftovers to take home with them. I decided to go with the 6-ounce filet and lobster tail. I opted for the Bleu Cheese “Crust” for a small up-charge. It is just right, it doesn’t overpower the flavor of the beef. My companion ordered the same, except they opted for the Truffle “Crust”. You also get a personal-size side of your choice. I do wish they offered all their sides as an option. However, you cannot go wrong with Ruth’s Creamed Spinach and Garlic Mashed Potatoes! The sides are large enough for two to share, in my opinion. To finish off the meal, you also get a personal-sized dessert! You typically would get a mini, traditional cheesecake. Given it was Thanksgiving, they offered mini Pumpkin Cheesecake. It is served with a small scoop of ice cream. We took ours to go. It was so-so. You can upgrade to a different dessert for an up-charge. Service was top-notch and our server was phenomenal. She ensured we had everything we needed and were completely satisfied. They are always ensuring your water is topped off and that the table is clean and tidy. For a high-end “chain”, the service is very attentive. The food was top-notch. The steaks were cooked perfectly, medium rare. They were flavorful, juicy, tender, and seasoned just-right. They came out with that signature sizzle on that 500-degree plate. If you’re looking for a consistent, reliable, high-end chain steakhouse in the financial district, I’d certainly suggest Ruth’s Chris.

Service was perfect. On point without being too much. Steak was perfect, crusty, peppery, cooked just right. Sides were bland & lacked seasoning. Creme Brule was delightful. Would definitely eat here again, but I would get a baked potato!

Every time I go to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse restaurant, the service is exceptional. I went last year for my anniversary with my husband and this year was no exception. Last year, the waitress Paola waited on us and by chance this year she served us herself. Paola was very attentive, she made sure that we felt comfortable and that we had a pleasant night. If I could give Paola more than 5 stars for her service, I would. Definitely on the next anniversary I will ask that Paola attend to us again. Thank you Paola and Ruth's Chris Restaurant for taking care of us perfectly. Of course, without leaving behind the fact that the food was on another level. My New York strip and shrimp were cooked to perfection. Dessert was excellent! Even though, the dinner can be expensive, around $250 for 2, it is alllllll worth the money. Trust me! 😊

Amazing visit to our favorite city and our favorite steak house. Everyone was so nice and friendly during our birthday visit to Ruth Chris Boston. Special shout out to Adam, our primary host, for making sure everything was perfect! We shall be back.

Had dinner at a Friday night, sat at the bar area. Had the lobster bisque that was well below average, the filet was ok, nothing to brag about, and for dessert a cheesecake. It didn’t felt fancy, the food was just ok, not a place that I would recommend. But the waiters were friendly.

This restaurant is phenomenal. Great service and great atmosphere to celebrate my 5 year wedding anniversary. Couldn't have chosen a better place to celebrate. Thank you to the manager and our waitress Jessica who were so accomomative and attentive. We will surely make this place a reoccurring location.

Finally made to Ruth’s Chris Steak House. The old building on School Street could use a little remodeling. I would definitely recommend sitting upstairs especially if you want a better ambiance, but the food was good the hot bread was fresh I think it had just came out the oven. My steak with lobster tail was perfect. Cooked just as ordered the mash potatoes was good, the spinach well I would pass on that. My cocktail was very light on the alcohol seem more like water down juice. I also ordered a hot Irish coffee that was room temperature but the service was good and food was good.

The food was excellent! The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was great, I love how they incorporated the history of the “old city hall” into the restaurant.

Most amazing ribeye ever. When entering this restaurant the aroma hits you. You know you have walked into an amazing restaurant and the food is going to be like no other. The atmosphere was dim but not too dark. The host was very nice the waiter was very helpful. But the star is the ribeye. It came sizzling on the plate. Accompanied by mashed potatoes and fries for the table. The ribeye seemed to melt with every slice. So juicy, so soft weeks later we still talking about it. This is our new gold standard on what we will judge all other ribeyes.

I don’t think I have ever gotten a bad meal at any Ruth Chris location and this location is no different. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary a they decorated our table which to me was a nice personal touch along with a happy anniversary post card.

Beautiful location, great food. My only issue was they sat 8 people in a 6-7 seater location.

The food was amazing. Crab cakes and stuffed chicken were the star dishes. Dined in for my birthday and had Sadie as our server. She was so lovely, attentive, all around a great light in the restaurant. Made the experience even better, thank you!! Will surely be back

One memory we will keep for long. The restaurant is sited within the old city hall, meat is incredible. A special mention for the filet and filet with bone, amazing. Sides are great too, try the Mac and cheese. Super friendly staff and overall great service.

I have never had a bad meal at a Ruth's Chris restaurant. In Chicago, we had a fabulous wine pairing experience that took 3 hours, and I loved every minute of it. In Boston, we made a last minute reservation, and ate a seafood tower and exquisite steak in an hour as we were rushing to a tour. They handled it fantastically, even though we were rushing. No issue at all. Now we did eat early, so not sure if it would work at a rush dinner hour. But it was still great, and in a historical building and place!

Absolutely outstanding!!!! My husband and I spent a couple of hours walking around the Public Gardens and made our way up town. Decided to try Ruth Chris during Dine Boston week. Sat in the bar for a cold beer had an outstanding bartender!! Unfortunately his name isn't on the receipt. Decided to stay at bar for dinner which was delicious. Couldn't have asked for a better meal. I had the filet my husband the NY Sirloin. Both cooked perfect med rare. Sides cooked perfect which never happens. Unfortunately we couldn't even think about dessert. My only little negative is when I glanced at receipt looking for server name I noticed they charged me for my mashed potatoes $11.00. My potatoes never came out with my meal and I had to ask for them. ? the added charge in error. A shame since I was too full full from bread, salad, steak and vegetables to even eat! I'm usually the type who checks my bill in detail before paying but figured (in error it seems) in a high end place you don't need to but I learned my lesson. Yet I would go back again the food was outstanding and service great!!!
