Review Saltie Girl - Boston

Tanya Soman
No wonder the reviews are stellar. The lobster roll was succulent, bread was perfectly toasted, not soaked in butter but rather one with the butter. 👌🏽 The clam chowder was rich, creamy, with a depth of flavor, literally salivating as I’m recalling the dish. Ryan was such a delight- welcoming, kind, friendly, and such a great vibe.

The absolute best meal we had our entire time in Boston. The lobster roll was absolutely to die for!!! My partner had the octopus empanadas and oh my lord, we both agree it may be a contender for the best lobster/octopus EVER. Excellent work to the team at Saltie Girl. I’ve had this restaurant on my list for a while and was over the moon we were finally able to go. You should absolutely treat yourself to some lunch or dinner at this amazing establishment. I will say it’s a bit more fine dining than I was expecting, but still amazing nonetheless. Absolutely cannot wait to come back!!

Delicious, beautiful plates. Good sized portions. Every dish we got was absolutely beautiful, every bite was full of flavor and the restaurant itself is very cute! Perfect place for date night ❤️ Definitely get the lobster roll! We will be returning 😁

Food was great. Service leaves something to be desired. It was a busy Friday afternoon and we arrived without reservations but were able to be seated pretty quickly outside on the patio. Took a long time to get water then our waiter disappeared without providing the sparkling water I asked for and another one took her place. My meal took longer to arrive than my partner's. Patio was full of bees which made us leave quicker than we would have otherwise.

We stop by here when we can whenever we’re in Boston, so if you like lobster then stop by for some brunch and be ready to be very full! I recommend the Chowder, New England lobster roll, and the eggs benedict with lobster. All of those are pretty heavy so I’d split them amongst your party or just get a main for yourself and it should be a plenty big meal! Service is always great and prompt, and the upstairs dining area has a nice charm for a slow Sunday morning. They don’t run out of reservation space quickly and we have a habit of reserving for places ahead of time, so I’m not sure what the walk-in experience is. Either way it’s not a hassle to reserve so I’d go for that.

The server was kind and helpful. He helped us make choices when we were unfamiliar with some of the menu options. We ordered the lobster roll (warm) and the snow crab toast (cold). The lobster roll came out 10 minutes before the snow crab toast. These were both entrees, so we were a bit upset with the timing. The snow crab toast was a bit under seasoned as well. We could imagine black pepper and lemon would have made it better. We had the lime and blackberry tart for dessert. This was delicious, recommended by the waiter, and recommended by us as well. The table and chairs were clean, but the floor was full of crumbs and we felt uncomfortable putting our bags down. It was good, but for the price point, we certainly expected more.

I came here on a mission to try the warm lobster roll. It was good, but I do think it could have been a little better. I feel as if it could have been warmer when they first brought it out. However, there are a lot of lobster chunks and they are super meaty. It’s a filling sandwich, and gets the craving for a lobster roll taken care of. I also ordered the oysters. They were really good. I wish I had more, but it was a little pricey with just a half dozen.

Had lunch here and loved it. The oysters were served with all the sides you would want, the lobster roll was STUFFED and the fish and chips were very crispy. The restaurant space was bright and nice - really enjoyed it.

Since my husband was out of town, I was feeling a little blue and decided to take a long walk through Boston after work. My stroll led me to the Salty Girl and I'm so grateful I landed here! My first question to Kaitlin my server/bartender, was what her favorite dishes were. She recommended the torched salmon belly crudo, salmon row with cream fresh and toasted points, and I also tried the New York style smoked Atlantic salmon, with cream Fresh instead of cream cheese. (which I need to bring home because I had a lot of food already) For dessert she recommended the honey pistachio tart which tastes a little like pecan pie, but less sweet and more pistachioey and slightly salty and highly recommended!! The wine pairing was also exquisite! Thank you Kaitlin for all your recommendations. If you're dinning solo definitely, sit at the bar and chat it up with Kaitlin!!

The vibe was everything! It was a very amazing experience and the food was fantastic! I ordered the lobster roll which was fantastic, but I should have ordered what my friend did. She got the lobsters and waffles. Melted in your mouth like butttah! The staff took very good care of us, were very attentive, and super friendly . The upstairs was very divine! The seating, decor, place settings were a vibe! The view of the city was a cherry on top. This is a must visit if you're in Boston. It was super easy to make a reservation online.

The food is really good especially for the price. We love the calamari that also came with salty sausages. The lobster roll and the crab toast was amazing. I'm ok with the lobster and waffle as I didn't like the lobster fried. Also love the king mushrooms dish with quinoa!

We found this spot while searching Yelp + so happy we did. We made reservations (it was busy!) and I’d probably recommend the same. The vibe is so fun, pinks and well thought out design. We were only in Boston for a few days + wanted to eat all the seafood we could! Saltie girl did NOT disappoint! We started with oysters + enormous shrimp followed by lobster and frites. We also ordered the bread — make sure you do too! It’s delicious! The lobster was served with a buttery garlic sauce, already split + grilled. DELICIOUS! We loved it here and can attest to it being worth the hype. Not an inexpensive menu BUT, we absolutely loved everything + our server was incredible.

The lobster roll was incredible! We also had a Kale mushroom veggie dish which was flavorful. The service was great. A bit pricey but worth it!

Quick Summary Fantastic food and probably the best lobster roll I found in the city. Excellent service and great ambiance. Food- 5 stars Lobster roll- ordered the warm style and it was fantastic. Large serving of lobster that tasted pretty fresh. Perfectly buttered and toasted roll as well Lobster and waffles- fried lobsters on top of waffles. This was incredibly good and I enjoyed every bite Maine uni- first time trying Maine uni and it was fantastic. I was lucky to arrive during uni season and it was fantastic and briny. It's not as sweet as Hokkaido or Santa Barbara uni, but the briny and savory flavor was divine. Sardine tin fish- they have a lot of tin fish here. It's basically served as a charcuterie board (but you replace the meats with tin fish instead). It's good and worth trying once Oysters- the oysters were double shucked perfectly and very fresh. They only had Massachusetts oysters though and a PEI (sadly no Maine oysters on the menu) Service- 5 stars Our servers were fantastic. Very attentitve without being overbearing. Bottom Line Excellent food, ambiance and my favorite lobster roll of the city. Definitely a must-try while in Boston

Went on a Saturday night without reservation, got lucky and only waited 10 minutes for a table for 4. Our waiter was great. I had the lobster roll, good portion and amazing taste! We also ordered the steak, halibut, scallops, clam chowder and French fries. Everything was very tasty.

Located on Newbury st, where Parking can be hard to find but once you get inside, it’s definitely aesthetically pleasing. There’s a lot of pink in the walls. The oysters we ordered are very fresh and they come in different types. The brunch menu was pretty good but interesting combo on the snow crab toast as it’s a little bland, but the pistachios make up for the saltiness. The egg Benedict with salmon had a nice creamy fresh blend together. Although if you come in first thing when it opens, there’s a lot of servers on shift that just stand around and it’s kind of uncomfortable just them seemingly watch everyone? Their service was fine, the bare minimum. I know this place gets pretty busy during the day so reservations are recommended.

I have not been here since pre pandemic and the food quality was still just as good (can't say that about many other places). It's very cute inside, great with friends or date night (even first dates). They have some spacious booth seatings at one side of the restaurant (I normally hate booths because of the tightness but this sat 6 of us very comfortably with extra space to potentially seat 8). Our server, Caesar, was very attentive, friendly and accommodating! 5 stars for Caesar. He was patient and did not make us feel rushed. We wanted to take group picture at the end and he went the extra mile to move some things (our water glasses) and take away plates and napkins that we weren't using anymore so our picture could come out perfectly. Their hot lobster roll is always my favorite here. It comes with a bag of their chips (sea salt or salt and vinegar). Fried clams are not a big portion but it's good enough for 6 of us since we were ordering other things to share. The avocado crab toast looks heavy but it's pretty light with light flavors as well. We made reservations (Sat 12pm) and highly recommend doing so. I overheard a walk in- party of 4 and the hostess said the wait would be at least an hr.

Recommendations: Warm Lobster Roll One of my favorite spots for lobster rolls overall, and my favorite warm lobster roll in Boston. The clam chowder is also especially good (it has bacon but the flavor isn't overpowering). They also have a nice selection of drinks, and ample seating options inside and outside.

To start, Joey was an amazing server! Even tho it was a busy Saturday he always attended and made sure we were enjoying ourself. The manager also touched our table to make sure we were enjoying everything. The food was phenomenal. My partner got the lobster and waffles and was blown away! As a chef, he doesn’t experience many meals that achieve that. The waffle itself was such a delicate formula and it went well beautiful with the lobster. I had the bagel with smoked salmon and was also blown away!! Would give ten stars if i could
