I love Ma Maison.
Service: Friendly and fast. They are super nice.
Food. It tastes homemade. It’s delicious. Their wine is good too.
Leave room for dessert.
My favorite thing is the warm bread.
An authentic French culinary experience with amazing food and effortlessly precise, quintessentially French service.
With its wood and brick accents and tile floors, Ma Maison feels like a rustic French cottage. This ambiance, nostalgic of the French countryside, pairs flawlessly with their classic French dishes.
Beginning with the appetizers, the in-house smoked salmon stood out with its rich, chewy texture. Equally stunning was the pan-seared foie gras, a delicate delight harmoniously paired with the subtle sweetness of rhubarb. Not to be overlooked, the steak tartare with capers and crostini was also solid.
From Plat de Résistance, the Duck Magret was an indulgent treat. While it did lean towards the fattier side, it was undeniable how the luxurious duck fat melded seamlessly with the earthy notes of asparagus and the sweet tang of cherry.
Even the service managed to encapsulate French hospitality perfectly: unfussy yet impeccably timed, and replete with that nonchalant air that only the French can pull off.
There are some great classic French restaurants in Boston, but Ma Maison, in my opinion, is superior to the popular ones in South End and Back Bay. Highly recommend giving them a try.
Enjoyed a delicious French lunch and warm hospitality from our table servers (08/26/2023)
- French Onion Soup
- Burgundy Escargot
- Duck Leg Confit (fried and seasoned very well) w/Asparagus
- Boneless Short Ribs Bourguignon w/fried potato
- Roasted Salmon Fillet w/ Ratatouille
Parfait! 😋👌🏽
Simply the best French place I’ve tried so for in the US. Reminds me experience my wife and I had in Paris, France. The food was amazing. Wherever should’ve been hot was hot and served on VERY hot plates so it stays hot while you enjoy your food.
My wife had scallops. They were super fresh, cooked to the perfection, remaining amazing flavor and texture. Cherry tomatoes, spinach and amazing sauce made this dish special. Highly recommend to try it so yummy it was🤤
I had veal chop… well…. Simply best veal of my life. If you like meet definitely worth to try it. Juicy, tender, a lot of flavor and a little crispness on the outside. Wow…
Almost forgot… French onion soup… so good! Good amount of cheese over nice and not too mushy bread. It was gone so fast I didn’t take a picture of it 😅
For desert we had cream brûlée. You can tell they have a French Chef… ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Service was fairly quick (considering how busy they are) and very friendly!
So, highly recommend this place!
The food was really good and we enjoyed our time but I wouldn’t call this a quintessentially French restaurant. The food came out way too rapid fire and we were out of there in less than 1.5 hours. Also no cheese selection was available before dessert which was surprising, especially given the quote on the menu about how French eat cheese before dessert and the British have it after dessert. I don’t regret going but I also won’t hurry back!
If you have never been to Paris, a visit to this restaurant will take you there for the evening. The vibe is bistro-perfect. The service is excellent. The food is as good as we have ever had in France. Below are photos of our meal for two; Country Pate, Cod filet with mushroom sauce, and Duck Marget with red cherries and asparagus gratin. We did not have room for dessert. With Boston being one of the most expensive cities in America, this restaurant is also a bargain. Bon Appetit.
Great service and atmosphere. Have come here for multiple special occasions (birthdays, anniversary). It's so cozy and intimate. Great champagne cocktails- love the Cocktail Ma maison (raspberry+champagne)!
The French onion soup here lives up to the hype. French restaurants aren’t typically my go-to and Ma Maison may have changed my mind. Everything was great.
The food is incredible and the ambiance is top notch! Would definitely recommend a later reservation if you’re looking for a more quiet/romantic setting. Once the sun goes down and the crowd thins out this place is so dreamy!
Went here for a friend's birthday party. Food was fantastic, the quality was great and the food was very reasonably priced for a higher-end Boston restaurant. Server was attentive and alert and overheard us mention we were there for a birthday so we were pleasantly surprised with a special piece of cake with a candle in it at the end of our meal. We will be back.
Oh this place is good. The French onion soup is not normal, it’s unfair how good it is. Entrees are exceptionally tasty, and the sweets are something you can bring people from out of town to impress.
We all enjoyed the depth of authenticity from the kitchen, we could have easily been in a Latin Quarter dining room in Paris or a farmhouse in the French countryside.
My waiter was exceptional, absolutely knowledgeable and attentive. I especially appreciate the effort to answer my questions about the gluten content for every dish. If he wasn't sure, he didn't make it up. He would dash off to ask the chef, and arrive promptly at our table with the facts.
Each dish, from the beef Wellington to the salmon to the lamb were prepared to perfection. I especially enjoyed the Ratatouille.
It was a cold night outside, but we were warm and cozy, right down to our creme brulee and final cup of tea.
5 enthusiastic stars
✨✨✨✨✨
Really enjoyed this place.
Tried their Lobster Bisque, freakin amazing....
Then had a chicken thigh dish that tasted too much like brisket for my tastes as a person who no longer eats beef, which anyone else in my family would have LOVED.
Despite me going into the selection knowing I would be trying it to find out if I liked it, which means I expected to pay no matter if I liked it, they still would not let me pay for this...
So, I had another bowl of the over-the-top good bisque....
Great wine selection, super friendly staff.
Top marks, would recommend to anyone!
I will be back to try more menu items.
Food - Top notch French food at very reasonable price, wine is also good and affordable.
atmosphere - Dining area can be loud and crowded, but that is the trade off for keeping prices affordable I suppose.
service - service has generally been decent; there were times I think the waitress could have been more polite. However, it has not stopped me from coming back so far.
overall I think Ma Maison is a great place to get French food with friends/family. I probably wouldn't come here for a date night though.
I simply love dining at Ma Maison. The staff members are always warm, personable and truly professional at their craft. They are extremely knowledgeable about the menu and it wine pairings. The food is always delicious and well executed. Each time I visit the experience is always consistent in the service and food alike. Thanks Ma Maison for always making me feel like a VIP and not only serving delicious meals, but creating wonderful memories each time I visit! 😊 8.9.2022 Calvin C.
The food and especially the service were excellent. On an extremely busy Saturday night, the wait-staff managed to be attentive, professional, warm and welcoming while literally running to keep up with all the people and orders, inside and outside. They were all fabulous. That is no small feat. The steak tartare is delicious and a huge portion. The onion soup is fabulous and may well be "the best in Boston."
The food was delicious. The duck was very good (the picture might not suggest that because I don't like the meat raw), the fish was very buttery and soft. The napoleon desert was AMAZING. It was fresh and airy, melting in your mouth. Loved that it was not as sweet as many restaurants make it. I got the la vie en rose cocktail, very fresh and tasty, and the raspberry white chocolate martini was delicious. Tasted like white chocolate with a hint of alcohol. Recommend! The creme bruilé was very tasty as well. I have been to quite a few French places and this one became one of my favorites.
