Bake & Roast

I stopped at this bakery while traveling through Bolton. I had one of their sausage rolls, and it might have been the best I've ever had. Flaky and crispy crust and excellent, flavorful sausage. My son had one of their brownies and loved it. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the prices were reasonable. I'd definitely come back next time I'm in the area.

We had a wonderful lunch at Bake & Roast Tearoom at Smithills Hall today. The surroundings were beautiful and the staff were so friendly & helpful - the food was delicious. My son had a sausage roll, potato wedges and side salad which he really enjoyed. My husband and I had a platter to share with soup, half a sandwich and a sausage roll of our choice & tasty potato wedges and side salad. Coffee as well as brownies for dessert were amazing too! Definitely recommend a visit to the tearoom with a walk around Smithills Hall and the beautiful gardens. A great place to stretch our legs and let our son burn off some energy! We’ll definitely be back! Thanks Tim & Anna and all Bake & Roast staff for a lovely afternoon!

I had lunch with a friend who is one of your customers this week. I can honestly say that I was absolutely delighted with the food she'd bought from you. We had sausage rolls and cake. Everything was superb! The pork and black pudding sausage rolls were my favourite. I'll definitely be visiting for myself and my family very soon.

“Absolutely fantastic” was repeated over and over again, with each mouthful of food, by each and every one of our 10 family guests who joined us last Sunday to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary with us at our home. Anna, at Bake and Roast, advised on a great choice of their wonderful produce to suit our guests’ varying palates, and then delivered it fresh on the day (on a Sunday, too!), even offering a large table for hire (with refund of deposit) to help show it all off to its best. We all thoroughly enjoyed the ‘Sharing Box’ containing a selection of cooked meats, cheeses, fruit and salad and including separate pots of hummus, coleslaw and dips (should have got two boxes, with hindsight … it was extremely popular!), also three, different fillings, 8-inch savoury pies, a wonderful selection of various filling ‘sausage’ rolls, a large tray of buttered cooked new potatoes, and a very large Artisan bread baguette with speciality butter. Everything was perfect, ‘almost’ everything was eaten on the day … apart from one of the pies, but only because everyone had had well enough to eat. We froze the last pie to enjoy at a later date. Can’t comment, personally, on the many other mouthwatering goodies available from Bake and Roast, but we definitely won’t be waiting for another special occasion before coming back for more of your fabulous food … including some of your wonderful cakes and sandwiches you’re also very well renowned for.
