Great spot for a date night! Our server, Daniel was VERY attentive - one of the best we've had in a long, long time. We ordered a pitcher of their upper level margaritas - well worth the upgrade, they were delicious. Our appetizer was an order of beef tamales. The meat had such a deep smoked flavor and was very tender. Our meals of fajitas and pork chops (recommended by the server) were equally delicious. There's so many Mexican places around here and they can all taste the same - this place is different and VERY yummy!
This place has great food and great service! I love the chilies en ogada (spelling?). Pollo maraiplanes is great two of my favorites. The Real Jalisco margaritas are great and I'm not a big margarita drinker. Great made from mama's recipes from scratch food!
The food was great, the staff was amazing, and the atmosphere was authentic. Our waiter provides exceptional services. He was very attentive, had great recommendations, and went above and beyond. He let my boyfriend try a different sauce incase the one he got was too hot. I loved the folded linen napkins. Very fancy. The value was good for the quality of food. I will definitely be back!
This is my FAVORITE mexican place in KC. The flavors are amazing. It's not a fancy place... definitely what I'd call a dive, but OMG delicious!

We love coming to Real Jalisco. The staff is very welcoming and you can tell how much care and love goes into every detail of their food. Excellent local restaurant with a fantastic menu.

Coming from Arizona this is the first Mexican restaurant in the Kansas City area I would give five stars. Better mole than I got in AZ! We will be back! (Also best service of any Mexican restaurant we have been to in the area)

I enjoyed a nice dinner here with my mother. Both the food and the service are very good! Their mole sauce is excellent! The guacamole is also very good and full of tomatoes, jalapeños, onion and cilantro. My only disappointment was the salsa... It was primarily canned tomatoes. Overall, a great place!

Authentic - and not just usual. Anytime you find a Mexican restaurant that has Mole on the menu, you know it's not the Americanized typical fare.
At Real Jalisco, the Mole was great! Really authentic. I really enjoyed the Mole. I also like traditional street tacos. My wife had Tacos carne assada and they were really good too.
The one and only down side; the margarita mix was a bit too sweet, but I chalk that up toe the American pallet.
Overall, very authentic, very good.
Excellent experience overall!. We've been to Real Jalisco twice so far. Each time we visited the food was excellent. This is not overly Americanized Mexican food, this is traditional Mexican at it's finest. If you want over-cheesed fried everything Mexican, go someplace else. Real Jalisco has tender, flavorful and juicey entrees - amazing corn tortillas and excellent spicy salsa.
Service as soon as we walked in was excellent. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes and always looking over his shoulder making sure we had everything we needed.
Northland Branch. We are thrilled to have their new Northland branch just 1 mile from our house. Ate our favorite dishes at new location and everything was wonderful. Please get the word out about the new location, you won't be disappointed.

Most Delicious Food in the WORLD. My husband and I used a Groupon here last month and we are thrilled to have done so. This is now my absolute favorite restaurant. I ordered Steak Jalisco and as much as I would like to try everything on their menu, I just don't think I'll have the strength to turn down this dish again. From the first bite to the last, it was PHENOMENAL. The service was wonderful. Prices VERY reasonable for the quality and taste of the food. I am a tough please when it comes to restaurants as I'm a chef myself. It's tough for me to hand out rave reviews but Real Jalisco deserves top ratings in every possible category. There are no words to describe how delicious this food is. A thousand shiny bright stars for this fabulous restaurant. YUM!

Pretty good food better than most
I was pleasantly surprised that this isn't your run of the mill "smother everything in cheese so you can't really taste the food" type of Mexican place. I will have to agree that you need to be prepared to be patient with the service, but the food more than makes up for it! I ordered the chili rellenos that are smothered in the white sauce- I can't remember what they are called on the menu, but I seriously crave them now! Will be back soon, and frequently! My husband got a combo that came with a taco, steak enchilada, and a regular chili rellano, and all three were amazing!
I am surprised to read any poor reviews of this restaurant. I have been here often and have never had anything but the best! It's a regular for me! The food is excellent and authentic Mexican. Ask for recommendations from the waiters and you can't go wrong. I have never ordered the same thing twice and it's all been delicious! Service is good... Sometimes you have to grab the attention of the waiter and ask for things like chips or salsa refills but other than that this place is phenomenal! By far the best in the area for Mexican!
Located in a strip mall, it doesn't look like much from the outside. Once inside, you find a great atmosphere. The food was outstanding and well worth the price.

Pretty good-would compare it to Guadalajara Cafe. Nice atmosphere, ok service, friendly, good food. I had a Jalisco special though I can't remember the name of it. It consisted of a flattened chicken cutlet covered in a tomatilla sauce with onions and peppers. I couldn't really tell that it as a tomatilla sauce as there were no small seeds and it was red not green but it was very tasty. My husband had the same meal with a pork cutlet. We had drinks, his margarita he would rate as average and my pina colada was really bad. We also had an order of guacamole which was served in an avocado shell which was probably quite average tasting.
The menu had a nice variety not usually found on your average Tex Mex menu and they did also have a section for those that still wanted Tex Mex fare. I did find however that though the menu presented some more up scale options that they were pretty much average to good. If I was in the area, I would for sure try it again though I don't think it's worthy of the 15 or 20 mile trek we took to get there. One thing Kansas City is blessed with is a fabulous array of Central American cuisine.

Great food. I took my wife and son out for lunch at a place we had not tried before. The Real Jalisco was incredible. Everything was awesome. We started with some nachos and the carne asada tacos was the best I've had. They bring you a whole carne asada steak that has a great smokey char on it, its thin and tender and you cut it up and make your on tacos. My wife had a chicken dish that she loved and my son had a pork burrito and we were all impressed. GREAT FOOD
Outstanding!!. After seeing this place featured on Check Please, we had to try it. We started with the Queso Fundido with tomatillo sauce. When it first came out, I thought they had forgotten the cheese. But there is a nice gooey cheese underneath the tomatillo sauce, which added a nice, spicy zing. We then tried the shrimp with diablo sauce. Very spicy and wonderful. I wanted to lick the plate when I was done. I finished it off with the Mariposa Jalisco with chicken. Chicken had a nice smoky flavor and the tomatillo sauce was fabulous. You can also order it with the diablo sauce if you like it spicy. They have a big menu and I saw lots of other things I would like to try. Fabulous Mexican food.

Real Jalisco is the best Mexican food on the planet! I grew up in Texas and new mexico, so I've been spoiled when it comes to authentic delicious mexican food. I was thrilled to discover Real Jalisco! Not only is the food amazing, bit the service is outstanding! The owner was our server and he was so helpful, thoughtful, etc etc etc! He suggested his signature dish (steak Jalisco or something?) and it was the best food I've ever had, hands down!

We used to live in the Northland and the only restaurant we missed was Ixtapa. We were thrilled to find it's cousin restaurant had opened here in Blue Springs! The food can't be beat and the service is fantastic. You MUST try it, Real Jalisco will be your favorite Mexican place for sure.
Best in KC. Best Mexican food in Kansas City if you're anxious to get away from the Tex-Mex junk food and eat authentic Mexican food a la Jalisco, Mexico. The service is impeccable. The menu is large, so ask the waiter to point out the dishes the restaurant is famous for. You'll be glad you did. When they tell you something is spicy, believe them!
Amazing food, amazing Margaritas, amazing service. Sergio was our waiter... At the end of our meal we learned he is an owner. No wonder he was interested in how we liked our food! High quality contol I'd say.
Real Taste Of Mexico!!!. Real Jalisco is hands down the best Mexican food we've experienced in Kansas City. The service is outstanding. Sergio, one of the owners, waited on our table. He asked if this was our first visit and then proceeded to describe various meals and made several recommendations from different sections of the extensive menu. Sergio explained the dishes were authentic traditional Mexican meals and most of the recipes were those of his mother. The Margaritas are made from scratch, no mixes, and excellent drinks. The appetizer and meals were all excellent. Everything is made from scratch so you can add or remove mushrooms or onions etc. according to your taste. They offer a number of base sauces from mild to hot but all explode with flavor. If you're looking for a real taste of Mexico right here in Kansas City this is a must try.
Great Service, Authentic Food. Because of the reviews on Urban Spoon and because we live in Independence, we decided to give Real Jalisco in Blue Springs a try. We didn't expect much because of what the comments said about it being in a strip mall but wow were we blown away. From the moment we walked in, we knew it was not your basic mexican restaurant. The decor was like a classy steak house. We were pleasantly surprised. After being immediately seated, we were asked if it was our first visit. The very friendly gentleman then proceeded to go over some highlights of the menu. It was a great service that all 4 of us appreciated very much. Our meal was excellent and we will definitely be back again and again! Even though we arrived toward closing on a Sunday night, we never felt rushed and the food didn't taste old. Try the fried ice cream. It was the best I have ever had!!

Holy Freaking Cow.... Is this place good. Service so polite I about fell over, the best house margarita I've had in KC and food so delicious I considered going back the next day for lunch. Tucked into a strip mall we weren't expecting much but had heard good things. I will cry if this place goes out of business so please go!
Fantastic. Try it, you'll love it. Unbelievably unique flavors in dishes you've never heard of. The friendly staff will encourage you to let them recommend something based on your basic likes and dislikes. Take them up on it! Any other mexican restaurant I've gone to I lock into one mainstay dish after the first couple visits. Not at Real Jalisco... it's like an adventure every time in trying new things.
New & Different - give it a try!. I read the reviews on here and decided I wanted to try something different. You need to realize you are not going for the standard mexican burrito and taco and be open to something more authentic. My husband and I both really liked our meals. We tried the queso for an appetizer. It's not your standard chips and queso, it was served with tortilla shells and was very yummy. I had the Mariposa (with Chicken) and he had the Tacos Callejeros. Overall, I would highly recommend you give this restaurant a try. It's only been open for about 9 months and they deserve a shot. The service was great also.
Love this place!. Found this restaurant on my iphone Urban Spoon app and after reading favorable reviews decided to give it a try. I am very particular about Mexican food and Margaritas and haven't found too many places in the KC area that I like, most are just ok. We were promptly greeted by a friendly staff and immediately served warm, fresh chips and salsa. I didn't think the salsa was anything out of the ordinary but the chips were fresh and not overly salty or greasy. We ordered Guacamole for our appetizer and it was really good served on an avocado half shell. I had a very good Margarita on the rocks, not too sweet and many varieties to choose from. For our entree we weren't really hungry so I ordered the chicken tacos, these were not your ordinary run of the mill tacos, really authentic and very tasty. For dessert Sopapillas which were very light and drizzled with chocolate and topped with real whipped cream. I really enjoyed this place and plan to return soon.

Simply Untouchable and the best Authentic Mexican in KC. This is a first class establishment and is a weekly must for us. We stumbled upon the Real Jalisco after looking for a great Mexican restuarant on the East side of KC. I have lived in Midtown and eaten up and down SW Boulevard, lived out South and loved Mi Ranchito, but nothing touches the Real Jalisco. The food is authentic mexican style from the Jalisco region of Mexico. You can have your Tex Mex anywhere and anytime, but there food reminds me of eating and traveling in Mexico. I order something different every week and i am always impressed and never saying, "i should have gotten what i normally eat." The chips and salsa will be the first thing that gets you hooked if you make the right decision by eating there. After the chips and salsa, you will continued to be amazed during dinner by the friendly service feeling like you are being pampered. You will be greated and welcomed from the start and that will continue throughout your whole meal. The staff is awesome and the owners Joel and Sergio were always super friendly even before we became regulars. I love MEXICAN food and we are so thankful to have found something to look forward to every week that is not your usual TEX MEX. Each week after leaving we kept saying that we need to write a review because this place is simply untoucable.

I don't believe this place gets the credit it deserves. Not to be confused with "tex-mex", which certainly is good in its own right, the more authentic dishes reside here. Great service, portions are more than adequate, and a taste that will make you lick your plate clean!
Great food. Great environment. But as most new starting Mexican restaurants. Can still use improvement. I would bring my family here and friends. With the understanding that it's not a chain. It's more independent and local feel. Dont expect top quality tables and chairs. But you will get great service.
Real Jalisco has been an almost weekly stop for 8+ years. Joel & Sergio are the owners and 1 or both are always at the restaurant. The food is delicious. If you want suggestions, they will provide them. If you want a dish tweaked to your liking, they are more than happy to accommodate. We have many favorites. They added TexMex to their more authentic dishes to please those less adventurous diners. The Jalisco style dishes are what their mom made their family in Mexico. On the drink front; try the Tequila Martini! Stop in and join the family. We did and you can almost always find us there on Friday night!
There are a lot of Mexican restaurants in the area, but this is my favorite! Food was awesome and the tortillas were made from scratch! The tacos Jalisco are awesome!
