My girlfriends & I were in Blowing Rock for the weekend. We fell in love with this place. So much that we went 2 nights in a row. Nina waited on us the 1st night. She was an excellent server & on top of her game! The food & drinks were excellent!! The restroom was clean. The restaurant was decorated for Halloween, which I absolutely loved. Definitely worth going to The Mexican Rock!! We got to meet one of the owners as well, super nice!! Thanks for the great experience!

I’ve been meaning to try this place. It was the old Foggy Rock which closed, was sold and reopened as Mexican Rock. I’ve always liked this restaurant’s location and the ambience inside and that is still pretty much the same. They have an extensive menu and a full bar, as well as outdoor seating. I ate in the bar area. Service was spot on and my server was very attentive. I ordered two cheese enchiladas, beans, and rice, which is not exactly on the menu, but they were willing to accommodate me. They brought out chips and salsa prior to my meal, and the chips were fresh and not broken like you get in some restaurants. The salsa was basic. I did not have to wait long for my food and it came at proper temperature, and the serving size was ample. The enchiladas were very good and the red sauce was a little smoky/spicy which tasted really good. Not the normal “tomato soup” sauce you get at most restaurants around here. The beans and rice were also good. And I did see other dishes being brought out, which all looked very good as well. I had a soda to drink, instead of ordering a margarita, as the margarita price was $10.99 (for either on the rocks or frozen) and I thought that was a little expensive. My total meal came to just over $20 not including the tip. I really did like this meal and I do like the place, the only negative I could think of would be that it is a bit expensive.

Omg this place is amazing!!! The waitress was on point!!! She was amazing and super friendly!!! To be honest we were going to go to Outback Steakhouse (it’s right next door to Mexican Rock) the wait with them was 40-50 minutes. We couldn’t wait and thank goodness that was the case because we got to enjoy a gem hiding in blowing rock!!! We will be back again for sure the customer service was on point and the food was so yummy!! 🤤 you get so much food for an amazing price!! They drop chips and salsa right away at the table for us super hungry people it helps a ton!!! The drinks are on point as well!! We will be back!!! We will always pick this place over Outback from now on!!! 😍

We had a great experience here. The cabeza (Beef Cheeks) and chorizo tacos were excellent. Their chorizo is not greasy like other places. The burrito de pollo was amazing and should definitely be served with a Togo box. We also had the Cali fries which was a delicious, heavy appetizer and would have been good on its own. I’m pretty sure they forgot the bacon on this, but it was fine without. The ambiance is one that is expected in the mountains and very relaxing. The Halloween decorations were spectacular and continued all throughout the restaurant. There seemed to be lots of servers and our service was terrific. Flip to the back of the menu and you’ll find items you won’t see at other Mexican restaurants. We will definitely return to try more items.

We dined in for the first time this evening for my best friends birthday and we had an awesome experience! The servers and staff were all very kind- some of the waitstaff are young and are definitely getting the hang of things, but they are all so sweet so be patient and kind! I mention this because I overheard a woman complaining about one of the server’s English and him being a little slower- try to remember your first job and cut the kids a break- everyone starts somewhere! The food was absolutely excellent. Between all of us, we had a few different taco salads, burrito, and the fajita nachos. The portions are large, the flavors are super authentic, and the food presentation overall was great! We also had a few margaritas- the mango in particular was AWESOME and even had real mango in the frozen one. The restaurant is very clean, and the location is beautiful. They also sang for the birthday girl and brought us some awesome tres leches cake! I hope people stop comparing them to Foggy Rock and let them make a name for themselves! We will definitely be back.

Great music, decor, and atmosphere. We had the Speedy Gonzales lunch special which comes with a taco, enchilada, and choice of rice or beans. I thought the food overall was great. The sauce on the enchilada was superb. The salsa and chips were typical. I like mine a bit more chunky. The beef could use some seasoning and the beans could use more flavor, but other than that, we thought it was delicious. My dad said his chile relleno was the best he's ever had. The service was also quick. We will definitely be back!

Two words--Papas Bombas! A unique dish from Baja of Mexico that I've always wanted to try. They have several different variations (Carne Asada, Al pastor, Shrimp, Chicken, etc), but all involve mashed potatoes, corn, mushrooms and cheese. What an amazing dish, served in the foil that it was grilled in. The chicharrones are the best I've ever had. The owner said he marinated the pork belly overnight and then deep fried the individual pieces to order--served them with a chimichurri and their version of Buffalo sauce. Everything I have gotten here, from the tortas to their street tacos, have been delicious. Everything is fresh. The "salsa picosa" is addictive.

Service was very good here! Food was pretty good...it lacked flavor. We all had to salt our dinners and I rarely add salt to my food. Atmosphere is nice. Very festive for the holidays. You get large portions but the prices are high. There are comparable restaurants in the area that are more reasonably priced.

This was our first visit to Mexican Rock since it opened. We were very pleased with our visit. The atmosphere is pleasant. It is well lit without being bright while the wall art and accents add to the whole theme. We were promptly seated when we arrived and chips and salsa came to the table shortly after. Our server was friendly and fun and came to the table at appropriate times to get drinks, dinner orders and to deliver the check. The value of the food is great and we enjoyed the flavor of our items. We ordered an ACP, Tacos Chorizo and a Chorizo Quesadilla. I am thankful to have Mexican Rock as another dining option in Blowing Rock that has reasonable prices, fun atmosphere and great service.

We really liked Foggy Rock, so it was with mixed feelings that we ventured in to Mexican Rock. We weren’t disappointed. The food was excellent — authentic and full of flavor. Highly recommended
