The best sandwiches I have ever tried. No matter which one I order there is always an unexpected flavor to it. And the Coleslaw hmmm I can have a whole bowl as a meal. The only problem was that once I tried their coleslaw I can't eat any other. They make the best coleslaw in town. It is a must. My favorite sandwich is El Jefe. Yummy
Our favorite B-town brewery, by far. The beers are always so good - I almost always get a flight and have a hard time picking just one to get a full glass of. The food is always fresh and inspired - definitely not your typical boring pub food. I love that they are constantly updating their beer list and food menu. The servers are helpful and friendly. Keep it up, Function!!
We had a nice server, the food was filling and the flight option for drinks were really affordable. I could really enjoy each of the drinks, and found 2 favorites out of the 4 drinks I tasted. The interior to the place was nice as well. I'm glad my colleagues took us to this spot! Origin Cherry Brown and Coffee Milk Stout were the ales I preferred. I had one of their signature hot sandwiches (it had ham on it). The kettle chips were great too.
Hands down best sandwiches in b-town, my wife and I's favorite place for a pint and a Sammy along with outstanding service. Cheers!
Visited from Missouri, happened to land in this place and loved it. Learned a lot about beer from the welcoming and knowledgeable staff. Had a great time and great beer- hope to find a place like this back home.

All the beers were very unique, a welcome surprise and extremely tasty. The best sandwich I've had in a really long time. Highly suggest getting a sandwich and a drink when you come in.
We've been several times, Function has the best customer service in Bloomington, IMO. Not only that, but they have the BEST sandwich (Smokehouse) and delicious beer (Tangent IPA is yummy). We only make the half hour trips to downtown b-town for Function Brewing!
Great beer and friendly staff! I don't live in Bloomington but I know that I can count on Function to be my go-to when I come for a visit.
Outstanding beer food and service. No bar food here. Soups and sandwiches are very creative and delicious.
The food and service were exceptional, giving a feel of fine dining. After brewing for 30 years and having been to 245 breweries I can confidently say each beer was first class.

Try the soup. Everytime I go they have a unique soup du jour. The staff also knows alot about the beer on tap and the new food items.
Words cant express how much i love this place!! The beer is hands down the best!! U can tell its brewed with passion and love. Food is always fresh and creative, desserts are to die for. Atmosphere is comfortable and crisp! Staff is well knowledged and friendly. Never want to leave when I'm there!!

AaaaaaamaIng food and brü. Nice, stripped down atmosphere. Gets a little too loud to talk as the night wears on, so do your talking early! Had a lovely high octane choice that was delish. Jo Bob Briggs says, "Two thumbs up! Check it out!"
Some of the best beer my wife and I have ever had, and without a doubt some of the best food in Bloomington (not to mention affordable). It was VERY hard to move away from Function, and we look forward to returning to it when we go back to Bloomington to visit!

By far, the best local beer around! And when they say pints, you're actually getting a pint!! Great atmosphere too...right balance of ambience to feel comfortable enough, like you're at home, but still feel like you're out somewhere...if that makes sense.

I'm really happy this place is open. Nice atmosphere, great location on the square, and most important: fantastic beers. I particularly liked the single-hop pale and the Belgian pale. Service was slow but that's to be expected after just a couple days in operation. They'll fix that. No need to fix the beers, though. Very pleasantly surprised.

Walked in after driving around for a while trying to decide what to eat and thought I’d try this place out. SOOOO GOOD! First, the staff is super friendly and professional. All of them helped me out despite having their own roles in the restaurant and even the GM asked about my meal and the chef came to ask how I liked it. Really appreciate great service and staff members who care about a customers experience. Second, the food is 🔥 I’m very picky and being from NY, it’s so hard to find decent food spots in this college town but Function Brewing served it up!! I’m coming here any time I want a sandwich. Third, I recommend the Members Only since it was the first sandwich I tried. Super filling so I suggest taking the other half home if you get an appetizer or additional side. The tomato soup was good too. I would have finished my sandwich if the soup didn’t fill me up. Wish I discovered this place sooner but now I have my go-to sandwich spot in town! Give them a try and you won’t regret it.
Feels like Denver in this place. Food is surprisingly good. Sandwiches are pretty hardy, two people could split one meal. It’s all real healthy too, like they actually use real food. Like I said feels like Denver.

So Function always has some solid brews some of the usual suspects and then rotates some more limited stuff. Never had a bad beer yet. On a scale of 1-5* their beer usually seings between 3.5-4.25 on my Untapped ratings. So consistently well above average.
Where this Brewery really stands out from others is the food. The Menu is much more to the taste buds of a "foodie" rather than someone looking for bar food fare like burgers and wings. Their sandwhiches and soups are rooted in traditional fare like a club sandwich, but takes a hard right to meet a food network cooking competition kind of cuisine.
For example pictured above is the
Feathered Farmer - "Sundried Tomato Whipped Feta, Butter Lettuce, Zucchini Ribbons, Sprouts, Pickled Peppers, Lemon Vinaigrette, Havarti, Multigrain Bread, with Turkey"
With a side of their house made Cole Slaw which has a generous helping of blue cheese.
Or one my favorites -
El Jefe
Roast Turkey, Pineapple, Pickled Jalapeños, Pepper Jack Cheese, Chipotle Aioli, Telera Roll.
They also offer vegetarian fare (Vegetarian is an old Indian word meaning Bad Hunter).
Consistently solid beer, and consistently unique food options and well worth a take out or dine in order.
Very unique selection of beers that offers something for everyone. From classic styles to New England IPAs, heavily fruited milkshake IPAs, tea infused beers, chili pepper infused beers and more. Always excited to see what they will do next. The soups and sandwiches are also very good!
Inviting place with good food and beer.
As with any place in downtown Bloomington, needing to park can be a problem.
Nice selection of brews, across various styles, not the hop-centric craziness too many breweries churn out.
Scalar smoked amber was the surprise standout on tap. (Out of Duplicity)
Charcuterie plate had tasty meats and cheeses, a little heavy on the bread/crackers.
Smokehouse sandwich had delicious insides, but the roll was a bit too firm/dry for my taste.
Blue cheese coleslaw had excellent flavor, veggies a little limp.
Service was fine. (I sat at the bar and they weren't as busy as I would expect for a Saturday night.)
