Excellent service and food. Our table had a variety of dishes from ribs, Lake perch, to a cod basket. Each expertly prepared and cooked to order. The stable is a one of a kind atmosphere.

The meals are always great at Stables, the restaurant behind the old Hathaway house. The salmon was some of the best I've ever had and everything was fresh. Friendly, open environment with patrons and staff. As relaxed as any neighborhood restaurant but with food quality that competes at a higher level.

Went there for Thanksgiving Food was not very good. Turkey was dry. We had reservations for 4 the meal was $150.00 And not worth 1/2 of that.

We ate at the Stables for my birthday. They were super great at taking precautions for Covid. Our waiter was extremely attentive and our food came out fast. My husband's Reuben was fantastic as usual. I got the new OMGBLAT Sandwich, blt plus avocado. It was delicious but I would get it untoasted next time as the bread was very dry. I miss the shredded bbq pork sandwich, it was my favorite!! Best banana cream pie I've ever had!!!!

Great service, we ate outside on the patio. The young man taking care of us was very attentive, never missed a thing. Food was fresh, and hot.

This restaurant is in a vintage house that certainly would have been considered a mansion back in the day. It is still a very large and beautifully maintained property. The food is very good and appropriately priced. The food was brought out at a leisurely pace, perhaps because it was Easter Sunday, but it also allowed our party to eat at a comfortable pace. No worries about having to shovel down our food so that the next party could get the table.

With a few small changes this could be a five star restaurant. On the positive side: The general manager Ron was very courteous and friendly when I called to reserve a table for an anniversary dinner. When we arrived we were greeted by the hostess and seated immediately. The server was very good throughout the meal, finding the right balance of being available and helpful without hovering. The french onion soup was outstanding and the tomato bisque very good. The homemade bread was delicious--served with three kinds of spread/pates and butter. The prime rib was cooked as ordered, and was as good as I remember last time I was here 25 years ago However, it should have been served hotter (it was barely over room temperature). . I did not care for the scallops: they had that slight ammonia taste and smell, which would have caused me to send it back. However, my wife thought the scallops were pretty good (and they were her dish) so we kept then. We didn't see Ron during our visit, but he was kind enough to have given us a complementary dessert, and the toffee/chocolate cake was among the best I have had at a restaurant. The restaurant atmosphere is very nice: fancy but not pretentious, and prices are reasonable for an upscale restaurant. So why four stars instead of five? 1) The scallops should be so fresh there is no ammonia smell; 2) The restaurant which makes almost everything from scratch does not make their own lemonade (it is a mix). My wife was served watered down, flavorless lemonade. They need to make their own or take it off the menu. 3) The utensils need to be cleaned a bit better: my table was set with a fork with dried food on it. 4) As noted the prime rib taste was delicious. But it was served at the same time as a large party, and was not served as hot as it should have been. 5) The urinals in the men's room smell--a basic for upscale restaurants is to have ice in the urinals (or at least deodorant). 6) The host staff should not wear wrinkled jeans/cords--this is not a fast casual restaurant. I realize this is an unpretentious restaurant which is great: still, as a former maitre D', I would recommend at least a dressy blouse and slacks. The host staff is responsible for a customer's first impression. These are quite minor changes, that will make a very good restaurant with some great qualities into the five star restaurant that it should be.
