One of our favorites!. The cucumber margaritas are just perfect! I always want to try something different but I can't stray from the state street chicken. It's always cooked perfectly. The fish and chips are yummy also. That's what my husband always gets.

Phenomenal Food - Great Service. Went here for Lunch last week. We had our dogs with us and they let us bring them on the expansive big back porch. Service was excellent and the food was out of the world. Food was fresh and vibrant. Highly, highly recommend it

Great, creative food in a friendly atmosphere. My husband and I ate lunch here on a weekday. They had a good crowd, but there was no wait. Our waitress was very friendly. Portions were generous and accommodating. The portobello mushroom burger was really tasty and unlike anything we'd had before. Want to try some local beers? Try a "flight" of draft brews -- four small glasses for about $6. Overall, a really nice surprise to find well-crafted food like this in a little mountain town.

A big party. We had a party of 20+ after a wedding reception. The staff here was wonderful, warm and accommodating. Multiple separate checks, people wandering around - didn't matter! So hospitable. Food was great too. Beer selection was amazing and satisfied all beer lovers. Would definitely go back!

Hydration Station. Wandered in here one fine sunny afternoon.. OK, thats putting it too kindly; it was hot as hell on this particular day. I shouldve just asked the doll who waited on us for a pitcher, of ice water, but to her credit she magically appeared each time I emptied my glass and fixed me up. Actually, she was great throughout our entire meal, so service gets a thumb up. As for our food?
It was damn good. I had their namesake burger; the Trailhead. I told them they could keep the slimy onions, which they did. This thing was mammoth in size and not too far behind in taste. If I were to play chef for a moment I would say the only way it could be improved upon is to pack the seasoning inside that 1/2 pound of meat, rather than on top of it. But thats just knit picking, it was a fine tasting burger, made with ingredients they can be proud of. Fries were hand cut and thats the way to do it. Foxy had their Black Bottom, which is a portabella burger. She was intrigued by the toppings and once she got a bite of it she knew she had made the right choice; she loved it.
We liked Trailhead; its a big open space with lots of seating, a large bar with plenty of stuff (including some local suds) on tap, and has a large covered patio on the side. Wait staff was friendly and the food was impressive. I cant think of anything else to ask for.

Great Service!. Our party came here on Sunday for dinner having made a reservation for 8...and we ended up having 18 show up! Waitress was fast, efficient, and accommodating. Everyone enjoyed the food (especially burgers) and beer...and cider was on special for $3.
Great fries!
We are all looking forward to eating at the Trailhead again, next time catching some live music.

We came here just by chance and loved it. The onion rings and sauce that came with were mouthwatering. Wings and cheeseburger were amazing. Definitely recommend this place. Great local beers too.

Great place! Friendly, accommodating staff & lots of options for vegetarians!
I've been to Trailhead several times in different situations. I've been for drinks (nice! Good beer, great margaritas, special drink every day). I've been for dinner with a large group of kids - they were kind and attentive to a variety of strange orders, and I like to go for lunch by myself or with a friend. They are great at serving solo folks. Vegetarian stuff is good - my favorite is BLT with tempeh bacon, but portobello burger is awesome, too. Specials are always meaty, but the flavors sound enticing and my husband has loved every one he's gotten.

Great-Definitely Go. We're frequent visitors to Blk Mtn and were excited to see a new restaurant ('tho we really liked An Apple a Day). We were told Trailhead was "so-so". BUT, we had great food, great drinks and great service. The bloody mary is made from scratch and DeLish! The beer selection is excellent, and they offered samples to make sure we picked something we wanted. The fish tacos were very tasty and cost was reasonable. We're looking forward to a dinner entree next time. Definitely a great place to meet up with friends and have a few drinks and great food. Thanks, Trailhead staff!

Review. We ate there last week and were really pleased with everything, food, service, setting. I was surprised how good the food was. Impressed and pleased.

Leaving now for #2 experience.

Local with no connection to the place,

After dining at Trailhead last year we made sure to stop in again. Ever bit as pleased as before. One of the best burgers you can get.. anywhere! Worth the wait. Their other food we saw them serve looked amazing as well.

Great local spot! The bar area reminded me of one of my favorite rock climbing gyms back home. I was expecting typical pub fare so I was in for a surprise! These salmon cakes (Lover's Leap) blew my mind! I'd definitely stop by again if I'm in the area.

Pleasant downtown restaurant with an extensive and diverse menu. Full bar & variety of seating options, including patio seating. Staff were friendly, but service was fairly slow. It took me quite a while to get a refill of my Coke at lunch time. They seemed to be short staffed, as there were several open tables & my party of three had to wait to be seated. I had the daily special, which was shrimp tacos with beans. One of my party had the fish & chips dinner, which she said was buttery, light & flakey. Two single stall restrooms were clean and stocked. One of my party requested to hold the cilantro, but this did not happen. She had to pull huge sprigs out of her food. Otherwise, the food was good and reasonably priced. Free public parking is present, but limited, as it is shared between several restaurants.

Ordered the fish and chips at our waitresses' suggestion. The food arrived fast, hot, and tasted out of this world. Crispy breaded fresh fish, homemade tarter sauce, and fresh cut fries. Yum. It was very loud in the restaurant and warm inside. But the food was so great and host and waitress were friendly.

Trailhead has a lot of your tradition favorites along with their own artistic additions that will tantilate your taste buds. I had the Catawba Falls consisting of grilled trout over kale with pickled onion, shredded carrot, goat cheese and topped with three slices of lemon. Next time I'll have it with a glass of red wine. My wife had the battered chicken breast with kale and corn pudding. I tried it and it was delicious. She loved it. The beer is much less than any place in Asheville. Hit the trail. You'll be glad you did!

Went here to eat a burger after hiking for the day. The burger was great and waitress was very nice, tried the corn pudding and it was slightly sweet and a bit crunchy—very good! The burger patties are thick and filling. Inside was a bit but good spot to eat!

The food was unique and flavorful. My salmon burger had a lot going on but it came together well and it was healthy. The nachos were the same thing. My wife loved her salad

Always fantastic food and service. We arrived later in the evening tonight and weren't rushed out. We've ordered takeout plenty and dined in plenty of times before and there's never been an issue. We have a vegan family member and have ordered vegan many times in the past and they always accommodate! Margaritas are my go-to and they're always a hit at Trailhead. The burgers are TOP notch but you cannot go wrong with anything you order. They have an expansive, something-for-everyone menu. They also have amazing specials. The photo in this review is ribeye chilaquiles they had for a daily special. Incredible and only $9.95! Park on the street or across the street in the gravel lot by the church.

The Trailhead is located in the heart of Black Mountain. It’s a great spot for lunch, drinks, dinner or all of the above. We’ve visited twice and ordered different things. Their burgers are solid. The Trailblazer includes Bacon while the Standard does not. The best thing we ordered were the PEI Mussels in a rich Red Curry Broth. The accompanying baguette is good for dipping but we also got an order of Pub Fries to dip as well. There’s a good beer selection on tap - many local options. Service is friendly and food comes out at an even pace. It does get packed around 11:30 so I’d suggest to get there on the earlier side. Parking is next door in the lot but it fills up so you may have to find a street spot. At peak times this can be challenging but l, nevertheless, Trailhead is one of the better quick casual dining options in Black Mountain.

Great place to stop in for some really good food. We grabbed a to-go order while enjoying a cold brew. Bartender was the nicest, most efficient I've had the pleasure to meet! Place was a bit more crowded than usual for a Monday, but I guess... leaves. Trailhead burger was very good and the nachos were excellent!

Trailhead is a great place to stop by if you're looking for somewhere chill, with great service and good food. I don't dine alone often but when I'm on trips by myself I kind of have to. The server, Jade, made me feel so welcome and comfortable even with how busy she was with her other tables. There wasn't any live music when I was there but it seems like an awesome place with good acoustics for such a thing. Pricing was fair, menu online is generally accurate, and the food tasted delicious. Make sure to try to peanut butter pie if you stop in! I will more than gladly come back here if I come back to Black Mountain!

Excellent food with reasonable prices. The servings are very generous. Try the onion rings and a craft beer. I recommend you dine early to avoid a long wait. We visited on a Thursday evening and the wait for a table for three was 30 minutes. The service was excellent, but the servers were overworked. It may simply have been an exceptionally busy evening. The atmosphere is typical of an old building conversion and on the noisy side, but comfortably roomy.

Laid back atmosphere. Nice music. Food was okay, not super special but affordable. The steak and trout was the best out of our meals. A bit too much kale but mostly well cooked. The wings were a little disappointing but we still ate most of them. Our waitress Clair B. was very professional, friendly and efficient. I would recommend for a late dinner chilled spot.
