Review The Lodge Restaurant At Black Butte Ranch - Black Butte Ranch

Judah K
Decent food, and pretty overpriced for the quality. The service was friendly and prompt. The atmosphere is very spacious and nice… Food 4.5 stars. I was tempted to give four stars because it was good but for an expensive meal I was expecting very high quality. It was… better than your average but not that great. They make it look nice, but it lacked a lot of flavor. Service 4 stars: this was the second time we have been here. The second time it was 5 star service. The first time I would give it a 3 star. The first time, the hostess was annoyed and was demanding/pressuring a decision to be made. Not only that but we went for one purpose only on the menu and they were sold out of that one thing, so we simply left.

Best breakfast and lunch I've ever had at a conference. Beautiful meeting space emphasized by the incredible views. Had a good drink after in the upstairs lounge, great service. We'll find a reason to come back!

We were so excited to see the new lodge at Black Butte and it is so beautiful and the views are stunning! We had breakfast here and it was pretty good! Service was pretty good as well, but there are still some fine tuning to be done! I rated it a 5, but a 4.5 would be more inline. We will try it again soon!

One of my most favorite birthday dinners ever! The food, atmosphere, and scenery were wonderful. I can’t say enough about the fabulous service - Maria is a gem!

Went here Sunday evening to the bar upstairs. Nice bar and good service. They were not quite up to speed as yet since no food was yet being served there. We tried to get into the restaurant but they had closed to more guests at 8 pm but the restaurant was half full. I get that it was memorial day weekend, and the lack of employees seems to be a persistent issue, but a little anticipation would seem prudent. We went back for breakfast the next day. It was early so not crowded. We had a good breakfast with good service.

Really lovely experience. Despite some initial confusion about who our server was, we ended up with superb waitstaff who more than made up for it. The food was delicious and beautiful, the view just delightful.

Attended a wedding at the Black Butte Ranch. The venue was amazing on the lawn ajoining the lake just off the back of the lodge. The view and back drop were breathtaking and the environment, seating and dancing floor made for a great event. The staff was friendly and attentive and the food was awesome.

First off, let me qualify this review. Black Butte Lodge Restaurant was delightful and the food was good, service was perfect. I gave it 4/5 stars in its class. It is a higher priced, higher quality experience, this isn't a 4/5 little mom and pop greasy spoon. It's a 4/5 fine dining experience, and that's pretty darn good. See below how they could have nailed that last star... We started with a tempura asparagus appetizer with a delicious pesto, really really good. I had the wagyu striploin and milady had the alder smoked salmon. We topped the dinner off with a lemon drop for my gal and a mule for me. The wagyu was 10/10 for meat quality, suuuuper tender, but maybe a 6/10 for presentation--although cooked to the proper doneness requested, so maybe 7/10. My steak was slightly over room temperature by the time I got it and didn't really have any good char or searing on it that you would expect out of a $35 piece of beef. There didn't appear to even be salt or pepper on it, but maybe they did that on purpose to let the meat shine by itself. I'm not sure. It was good but could have been much better. The whipped potatoes were perfectly done, creamy and the perfect accompaniment, and the broccolini was delicous and crunchy and fresh. The salmon was phenomenal, probably they best I've ever had in a restaurant, no joke. Couldn't speak highly enough about it. The smashed fingerlings and sautéed leeks with it were also incredible. That dish was done perfectly. For desert we had a sourdough chocolate cake that came with a scoop of vanilla bean icecream. Ok, not fair yall, that's my favorite icecream (I know, lame right? Vanilla my man? Your fav? Oh yeah). That doggon cake was to die for, and I am not a desert guy normally. Finally, the lemon drop was reportedly perfect, and my mule was middle of the road far as a mule goes. I like a bright, spicily gingery mule with a pucker of lime. This one was half the size a normal mule is and it was a bit flat. It was serviceable, but not $12 worth. All told, price was fair and as expected for a higher end dinner. The service was also as expected for this kind of atmosphere, excellent. We will come back again and will be recommending The Lodge to others. Hopefully they put an artist on their steak grill next time like they had on their salmon station this time. Ugh, that salmon was so good!

This was my first visit to the new lodge and it did not disappoint. The food was outstanding. The Alaskan halibut was perfect as was the fresh baked brownie with coconut ice cream for dessert (no chocolate sourdough cake on the menu anymore though). Everyone I was with thoroughly enjoyed their meal. In terms of atmosphere, the new building is gorgeous and bright with massive windows. Every seat has a view of the mountains. Service was fantastic as well. I've been coming to BBR my entire life (31 years) and have a lot of fond memories of the old lodge, so I was skeptical when they said they were building a new one. The new lodge definitely exceeds expectations. The only thing missing is the chocolate sourdough cake and free fudge at the end of the meal.

We stopped by for breakfast on our way out of the ranch and had a lovely experience! The service was quick and friendly, the food was delicious and the setting is unbeatable. We’ll definitely be back :)

Food was excellent. I had scallops and my husband had halibut. Service very good. Views awesome. Lodge does not have the warmth and character of the old lodge, but we will return.
