We were in Detroit for the first time for a funeral. It was on the second day of our trip when I realized that we were near the famous Woodward Avenue! As a gearhead, this made me pretty excited. Due to family obligations we did not get a chance to head out to Woodward until after 9:30 on a Wednesday in June. We knew that we wanted some icecream and Dairy Deluxe was the first place that we saw and it was open with a crowd out front at 10PM! There were several cool cars out front and on the side street. I got a swirl cone with chopped nuts and my girlfriend got a chocolate cherry dipped cone. The icecream was perfect and the atmosphere was amazing! It was so cool to watch cars go by and enjoy a treat. I would love to be here on a Saturday! I guess that we will have to come back some day. Will definitely need to stop by Dairy Deluxe when we do!
TL:DR - Come for the icecream, stay and enjoy the atmosphere. Oh, and bring cash!

Simply the best ice cream ever. This place has so many options on the menu it’s impossible to know what to choose. Fortunately we visited several times while we were in town so I feel I didn’t miss out on anything. Friendly and super quick service and also a good spot to see some cool cars outside!

Went for an afternoon ice cream and the order taker got both our orders wrong. We got our favorite twist and it wasn’t too chocolaty. Not worth it to get the order redone. Maybe it’ll be better next time. Mmm time for a refresh???

Fun place!. What a fantastic ice cream store for soft serve! This is my family's favorite spot on Woodward. I really like the "upside down banana split" as well as just for cone. Always a great experience in the summer months to sit on the curb and watch the classic cars go by.
