Review Blowfish Sushi Bar - Birmingham

The food was well presented and visually pleasing. Unfortunately, our chicken and rice plate had chicken that was cold and tasted strangly off. The "Green Dragon Roll," looked great but the taste was poor. The tuna inside was warm, off color and its texture was wrong. My guests mentioned the restroom was unclean. I will not be back...

The space was modest and well decorated. The staff was friendly and helpful. My hub and I both loved the food. I had the sushi sampler special from the picture on the table. The sushi was lovely and fresh. I took home some of their chicken soup, interesting presentation and delicious.

Took a gamble on eating at a newer sushi resturant and was pleasantly surprised. The staff was very attentive and made excellent suggestions after asking each of my party of 4 our preferences. What I loved the most was the calamari appetizer though. It was hands down the best calamari I've ever had! The sweet onion and spicy sauce was unlike anything I've had. You must try it! We shared several rolls and they were delicious as well.

I tried this place when it first opened and hated it which was really disappointing after reading how amazing it was supposed to be. Decided to try it again tonight. I ordered two different rolls and both rolls were poorly made. The pieces were falling apart or weren’t even fully rolled. Some pieces were even missing the fish it was supposed to contain. Then to top it all off I ordered shrimp fried rice and the shrimp wasn’t even peeled! And there were huge chunks of onions ( one piece was about a third of a whole onion). Even though the rice had an okay taste to me it definitely wasn’t worth the price. If you’re in the mood for sushi you should definitely check the place Across 280 in lee branch.

Freshest sushi in town with great service. The current sampler of 18 pieces for $19.00 is awesome! They just need to do away with their bright lighting in the evening. Its blinding while you are trying to eat.

I have eaten there about 50 times in the last 7 months. It started out good when Vivian was working there as a waitress. She quit and went elsewhere for several internal reasons. Then Hannah starts working, very sweet girl and one of the best waitress they had beside Vivian. Then I go today, the owner is out of the country visiting home back in Vietnam. I was there at 11:15, the bathrooms were still dirty from the night before, toilet paper all over the floor, trash can over flowing and toilet dirty. Do these people not clean at night after a shift? Makes me wonder what the kitchen looked like. The waitress, Shannon was terrible making us wait for ever just to place an order. I know she was slammed and all, what with 2 other tables to take care of, but she never came back to check on us. The sushi had so much over cooked rice that my daughter and my self removed about 30% and I had a pile of rice left on my plate. When I was finally able to pay, I noticed a $2 charge for "special sushi". When I asked Shannon what that was, she said the we did not eat all of our rice and that we were being charged for that??? What?? I told her and the guy making the sushi that I have been there 2-3 times a week for the last 7 months and they want to bink me for a whole $2 and that I would never be back because of it, They both laughed at me and said sorry in a mocking tone. I figure that I have spent aprx $300 per month there and they want to laugh about losing that, especially since I have never seen more than 3 or 4 tables at once during lunch, then they do not need my business.... Wonderful food and service. I had the Pad Thai which had a bit sweeter sauce than I was used to but delicious. My wife had the sushi and it was great. Highly recommend.

Walked in and sat down...my arms stuck to the table. The menus were sticky and dirty and a dead fly was laying on a neighboring table. As I was looking over the menu, I glanced over and happened to notice the soy sauce container had some kind of yellow-orange film growing in it. I looked around at the other tables and it was the same on all of them. I got up and left. I honestly don't know how they passed inspection. Yuck!
