Review Woodlawn Cycle Cafe - Birmingham

Super cool coffee shop. We were able to get a lot of work done. It is a very relaxed environment. The coffee drinks were excellent. The pictures on top of the coffee drinks are top notch. The bathrooms are super clean. They also have great soap and lotion. The food is also very good. The staff is very friendly. They do not ever pressure you to buy more or leave. They even brought is fresh water on multiple occasions during our 4 hour stay.

We had a fantastic time at the cafe. Delicious food and friendly staff. The hot cakes were delicious, the egg on toast was awesome (the sour dough toast was the best part) and the sweet potato biscuit was excellent! Sort of sweet, but paired really well with the salted butter. The tea was also really well done. The cafe is not incredibly well-marked. Look for a small black sign sticking out from the wall. There’s parking at a nearby municipal lot.

We visited on our way through Birmingham because this restaurant was listed as the top rated Yelp restaurant in Alabama. Great coffee, helpful staff and a neat and very clean location were a plus. The portions offered were too small for the price and there was only one non-vegetarian option on the menu for the warm dishes. The chicken thigh they served atop wild rice was very tasty though it didn't look appetizing. We ordered a locally made kombucha which was quite tasty. We also ordered a spice ~ carrot cake muffin and a savory bacon and cheese scone since we were still hungry. Both were very, very good. The muffin was not too sweet and the scone was really well done. We had a latte and espresso with our baked goods. Both were creamy and rich and surprisingly not that expensive considering the price of the other menu items.

A small mid century space with a full espresso bar serving some good southern comfort food in the heart of Woodlawn. The vanilla Cappuccino with almond milk is a must which compliments your meal exceptionally. The toastie and the granola is the dynamic duo on the menu with the toastie made out of a sweet potato biscuit that would make your mama jealous. Topped with scrambled egg, bacon, and cheese. The granola comes with a nice blend of granola (of course), yogurt, strawberries, blueberries, sliced apples, and seeds all coming to together making one healthy little dish. Highly recommend this little hidden gem. Enjoy my foodie connoisseurs!

Definitely a place for hipsters.  It is decorated like a nice coffee house and has good food options.  They are aware of allergens and can make lots of substitutions.  It seems like people are regulars here because multiple people ordered the "usual".  Parking is available at a nearby side street and parking lot, so on a Saturday it's easy to park.  I ordered the Market Hash to go which was pretty decent.  Large portion and had a fresher, more earthy flavor since it wasn't deep fried.

Tasty food and a fun atmosphere. Wait staff was super friendly, and we enjoyed introducing the kids to more sophisticated tastes beyond the typical American fare. Sweet potato biscuits were very good. They play music from vinyl and actually do the whole album, which is a big plus for music enthusiasts, but I thought the volume was excessive. We couldn't talk to each other without yelling, which detracts done from the dining experience.

Great coffee, food was amazing, and great vibe. I shared table with 3 random people who were also co-working from the coffee shop. The coffee was really good (not cheap) and I ordered the venison over naan plate (pictured) that was flavorful and filling. Street parking along adjacent streets made it easy to spend the morning working here.

My wife loves little hipster cafe’s like this one. The food is always amazing as well as their coffee. The restaurant it self is nestled in the heart of Woodlawn near the high school and Christ health center. Don’t expect to be welcomed by anyone. No one is excited you are there. The workers here are very mellow and even seem irritated if a family with kids come in a mess up their chic hipster environment. They do play records and tapes which a cool selection of music. I recommend the sweet potato biscuit!
