Review Mexico Lindo - Birmingham

Rashad Khoury
Mexican food was nothing special, pretty average. The strawberry margaritas tasted like syrup. Chips and salsa were okay, overall 3 star place.

Great food and a good atmosphere all around. The pricing was perfect and was more relaxed than alot of other restaurants. If you need a Hispanic food fix, they got you covered!

Randomly stumbled in after a long flight when the hotel restaurant was closed. So glad I did. Will definitely be coming back. Music was bangin, salsa was spicy, best flautas I’ve ever eaten.

I've been to several amazing Mexican restaurants, and was just passing Birmingham after coming back from a vacation. I googled Authentic Mexican food near me and Mex Lindo popped up! The food was DELICIOUS, the service was AMAZING, and the prices were great as well. Definitely will be back next time we pass through the area.

Fist time sitting down inside but I get takeout all the time. Food was delicious, I got the chicken chimichanga and my friend got the burrito supreme, she said it was great and mine was delicious! 😋 Fast service and polite staff. Will definitely be back soon

Came here for lunch as we do on occasion. Obviously, they had staffing issues that day because the poor waiter was running all over. We had a longer wait than usual. Food was still good and orders were correct. Always good, service usually fast.

Some of the best Mexican food in the Birmingham metro area. The chips are good, too, and the prices are reasonable, especially considering it's in Mountainbrook, where it's a local favorite. They have outdoor seating when the weather is nice, too. My wife lives the tortilla soup, which is a hearty portion.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in town. They have truly great food, great service, and great drinks. The only downside is its size and the limited parking. Sort of gives it an exclusive feel which probably increases demand.

As far as "inexpensive Mexican" food goes, this is absolutely head and shoulders above all the other similar places. The food is just way better. Unless you go to a high end Mexican place (and there aren't many of them), you will not find food this good or even comparable. We eat at several Mexican joints around Birmingham and they are cheap, fast, and reasonably good. But Lindo is in another league for food quality. As far as higher-end Mexican goes, there is Little Donkey, if you call them Mexican. I call them more like Tex Mex / barbecue fusion or something like that. They are fantastic and well worth a visit. But for straight ahead Mexican, Lindo is tops. They cost a little bit more. You won't find the $6 lunch plate like at some places, but there's a reason for that. The food is too good for that price point and the extra couple bucks is well worth it.

Poor service. Sat outside. Waited over 45 minutes for our water, and when we got it the ice was all melted, never got refills. The food was even longer and everything was wrong and was never corrected, took too long. When we went inside to see what was taking so long there were three employees sitting in the empty restaurant on their phones. Horrible service. No apologies. Will not return. Ended up taking us over 2 hours plus the wait to be seated to get simple quesadillas, water and chips and salsa.

Our default stop for Mexican food. Delicious, quick and the staff feels like family. Get here early because the parking lot fills up quick!

Went for happy hour recently and had a real good time! I highly recommend this place! Only complaint is that the $3 Margaritas had as much alcohol as you would expect. (So I shouldn't complain).

The food was pretty good. The service was great and the prices were too. The chorizo/chicken dish I got was delicious. I heard good things about their steak and mushroom quesadillas as well.

Great food!. We have been eating at Mexico Lindo for many years and it is still our favorite Mexican restaurant by far! Our favorites are the Caldo Tlalpeno and the Chiles Rellenos. The Tostada Azteca and the quesadillas are really good as well. Their cheese dip is spicy and yummy and the salsa is freshly made and very tasty. We give them 5 + stars!!

C+ rating for the First Visit. We’ve been meaning to check out Mexico Lindo for years now and although we pass it while driving down Highway 280 weekly, we always seem to forget about it. My brilliant husband reminded me of it while we were shopping this past Saturday afternoon and we agreed that we had to check it out. I’m not sure why I thought it would be the average strip mall ambience, but I was pleasantly surprised when we walked in. It was warmly decorated and sectioned off into 3 different dining sections, which made the space feel warm and cozy. We were seated in the bar area along the wall, which I thought would be loud and drafty. Nope – I never even noticed that we were sitting next to the bar. We received very friendly, prompt service and the gentleman that served us was very helpful with the menu – explaining each dish that was in question. I chose the Quesadilla Sincronisada with Shrimp that was served with rice and beans. It was really good – I would definitely get it again. My hubs chose the Pollo a la Charra, served with rice, beans and chorizo. The chicken was super tender and flavorful. Overall, we really liked Mexico Lindo and will return when the craving hits us. I would give Mexico Lindo a C+ for our first visit.

Great place to eat / watch a game.. Love the Tinga! Good stuff. Nice atmosphere as well. Sometimes the service is a little slow, but that's the only negative I can think of. Nice bar area, for hanging with friends, having drinks and watching sports.

Great food. I got a chicken quesadilla. Not your typical quesadilla they also added onions and tomatoes. So good! And the service was good and the food came out quick. Will be back for sure

Consistently Great food. Have eaten here half a dozen times. I've always liked what I've gotten. I find it to be in a more authentic tier of food than your typical place. Not really understanding the negative reviews, other than maybe people around here just have bad taste in food and don't know what they're talking about. Especially being in that location, you get a lot of "rednecks with money" mountain brook people who probably think food can be good if it's 2x market price.

The Shoe Leather/Carne Asada, Cooked Grayish Brown. Gross, I complained, the waitress was flip, I didn't eat it, won't be back

Distinguished Gallery of Art. Listen up, friends & foes. My dear friend & I visited Mexico Lindo on a rainy afternoon. We were delighted to have been seated beneath a phenomenal and enjoyable portrait of a Mexican gentleman with his proud and kaleidoscopic foul. First of all, the food was peachy. I did very much so enjoy my burrito, taco, and enchilada. It was doused with cheese & a weird sauce, just the way i like mother made it (yummy yummy). However, I was a bit perturbed by the flaming hot plates. What does it mean? My friend burnt her wee pinky finger on her plate and almost cried :'(. Another thing, let's keep it real here, lads, the waiters are kinda creepy. They keep their on you and your bum. My favorite part about the glorious restaurant would have to be the outdoor seating area, for its fairy-like charm, or the artwork that graces the walls of Mexico Lindo. For example, the portrait of Frido Kahlo and the various, black monkeys was especially important and meaningful. It was a close rendition of her 1943 painting titled, "Self Portrait with Monkeys, Bird of Paradise Flower." What grandiose, what mystery. What Mexican flavor.

RUDE STAFF!!!. I've given this place 3 chances, and that's it, I won't be back. I've never seen such an overall group of RUDE employees. I don't like getting ignored, rushed out, etc and that's happened EVERY SINGLE time I've gone there. Somebody needs to manage these people and show them how to make guests feel welcome and leave happy!

The food is great. My favorite Mexican food in bham. However..the service is horrible! I come in once a week and the service is just bad. Hard to get re fills, more chips, etc. hope the owner sees this.

WORST SERVICE EVER!. I walked in with my husband and friend as there were employees gathered in a circle chatting. No one greeted/spoke to us so we seated ourselves at the bar (there were no customers in the restaurant) and there were 2 men standing behind the bar and 1 man that looked like the manager and no one spoke to us. My husband finally stood up and said "are y'all open???" And they looked at us and nodded yes. After getting our drinks and appetizer, no one ever came back to check on us or see if we wanted to order. We will not be returning to eat here and I will be sure to tell all of our friends to avoid this rude place at all costs!

This was the worst service I've ever had at any restuarant in town!! From the bartenders to server all the way to the owner!! It was like my husband and I were invisible. The server was rude, for the 5 seconds we saw him. We ended up walking out. No wonder this restaurant shut down the first time! If this is the way they conduct service, it won't be long before they shut down again!! By the way, thanks for the free chips & salsa.

Great food. Good service.

Absolutely best Mexican I've had in Birmingham. My wife had the fish tacos and loved them. The top shelf margaritas are great I ordered the steak chicken fajitas they were delicious. This is quality Mexican food, Beautiful decor and staff was friendly. So glad they are back. A must go!

Disappointed. Not child friendly at all. No children's menu. Restaurant only half full but still could not find a high chair or booster seat for kids. Finally found high chair but without working seat belt for our wild child so useless. No booster for toddler. Food was lackluster. No one at the table found anything positive to say about food. Disappointing experience all the way around!! Will not be back.

The absolute worst service I have experienced in a long time. Freezing cold, too.

Excellent! The spinach mushroom quesadilla was the best quesadilla i had ever had.

Food tastes fresh. My husband and I love this restaurant. The decor is nice. We didn't feel rushed like we do in other mexican restaurants. The salsa was one of the best that I have ever tasted. Margaritas are decent. I like to order the Quesadilla sincronasada with shrimp. I really wanna know how to make the sauce and the shrimp were huge and fresh. It was on a Monday night so the fajitas were $8!!!! My husband loved his. It's worth the drive from Trussville or to dine at on the way home from work in Hoover.

I had a 2 dishes here that were so incredibly salty that they were inedible. Worst mexican i've had for that reason.

Theyt're back!. They snuck back. No fanfare but very welcome return. Had the pork in Passilla Chile - wonderful. It's called Carne Adovada out west but whatever the name it's good chow. I don't live in B'ham but will go back whenever I'm in town. It's a convenient lunch spot.

New decor and snappy staff makes the resurrected Mexico Lindo a treasure. The food is great--superior lunch menu that hits all types of appetites. I love their fish tacos. My favorite main dish is #39--relllano with chicken (or beef) and beans and rice--heaven!!! All white meat chicken mixed with tomatoes and cheese in a roasted poblano! The chips are to be commended too--thicker, more rustic corn, not thin and greasey like so many other places. I can't brag on this place enough--the staff is quick and provides great service. The marguertas are not bad either.

Pretty Good. I ordered the fish tacos from the lunch menu. Two soft flour tortillas with grilled fish fillets topped with what looked like guacamole. The guacamole was very good and complemented nicely. However, I was a little disappointed as I there was nothing to contrast the texture of the fish and tortilla. I improvised with an occasional tortilla chip. The dinner menu looks more adventurous than most Texmex places around town. I hope to get back to try something at night.

So happy that they are back to a convenient location for more people. Same great food and familiar faces. Betting they'll have to expand soon!

This place operated for years in this location and has moved back. Previously the food was great as were the prices. So what did they do upon their return: up the prices and lowered the quality ! Won't be back.

First time there since they reopened. Went on a Sunday around 11:15am. Seated very quickly. Wait staff was fairly prompt in visiting the table. Took a few minutes to get chips and salsa. Food came out fairly prompt. I ordered something out of the ordinary, so I imagine that took a little extra time. Good portions of food. Refills did not happen at our table - kind of disappointed in that. All in all, decent food. A little pricy ($26 for two adults and a two year old) when compared to other options IMO.
