Love Ranelli’s Deli, an icon on the Southside of Birmingham. Their Richman’s Poorboy is a delicious Italian version of the muffuletta, and the chicken salad is simply fabulous.
And they use that stage, most notably for the Magic City Blues Society on the 1st Friday of the month. Good vibe.
Food is good and consistent. It's a nice dive, no fancy decor. They have a stage but I'd hate to be there with a band playing, the place is so small.
Very nice eats. Reasonably priced. Great for a traveling couple.
Clearly, the Rich Man (the 16" version) is the best sandwich in town.
The Little Richman is the best!
Great place to grab lunch. The meatball sub was the best I've ever had.
Excellent! Don't miss the olive salad!. When I lived in B'ham, Ranelli's was one of my regular must-eats. The L'il Richman sub is sensational, and the olive salad is what really rockets this sandwich. If I still lived there, I'd be stopping in twice a week. I wish Ranelli's would come to Chattanooga. Great deli. No mediocre food here.
I love Ranelli's! Little Richman is the best sandwich anywhere! Love love love it!!!!
Great Italian deli.... There's a reason they've been in business for over 30 years
Old style lunch dive - Yummy!. Ranelli's offers a lot of atmosphere: Dozens of 45 rpm records, electric guitars and a Casio keyboard are hanging from the ceiling while the walls are plastered with Blues related memorabilia (e.g. Shar Baby, Guitar Shorty).
The subs and sandwiches are stuffed with flavorful ingredients and even the ones they call small offer a plentiful lunch. My family loves the meatballs as sub, side or antipasti I like the vegetarian Lasagna but usually opt for a small "Cheese Deluxe" sandwich. Three slices of warmed up rye bread layered with cheese, olive salad, tomato, and salad. Yummy!
