Quick drop in here on a canal walk. Smart looking pub with well appointed and very busy beer garden. The one ale on tap was very well kept and completely welcome. Staff were both friendly and efficient. Didn't try the food today, but I will definitely come back as the menu looks really good. Definitely recommended.

When for a spur of the moment meal on a Tuesday night. We hadnt been to the pub for years and were very pleased with how the place is. Seemed to be recently refurbished but still kept thd old character.
Food was great, we went for the famous steak pie and it didnt dissapoint. Service was quick and friendly and prices were ok. Fourty quid for three drinks two meals and a shared starter seemed about right.
Overall very happy and well definately return

What a fantastic place . The menu was extensive, the food fabulous and plentiful and the prices very good. The service was very good and we were made very welcome by the staff. It has a lovely atmosphere and is not at all starchy.
If you are in the Knowle/ Solihull area give the Black Boy a visit, you will not be disappointed. The big plus is lots of parking and a beautiful canal walk at the rear of the pub, where you can walk off your beautiful meal.

Came here for a family meal after Christmas, food was really nice and staff were very helpful. I ordered the roast chicken and chips.
Would definitely like to come back here in the summer.

Great food, all seemed to be made on site, the leg of lamb stood out in our group as the best meal but the fish pie was nice as was the fish and chips, the hunters chicken and the steak pie.

Not having been to The Black Boy for several years, we were happy that we were pleasantly welcomed and the menu looked interesting.
We ordered drinks from a nice variety (we had Tribute) whilst deciding in the end to all go for the posh finger sandwiches.
Despite having 2 different parties of 10 arriving at the same time, our food arrived within 10 minutes - very nicely presented - sitting in the winter sun looking down the canal to the boatyard. Filling and cooked to perfection as well as being waring on a cold day.
I cannot compliment the staff enough and note that, having been to the "posh pub" in Knowle, the toilets were much cleaner and pleasant to use.
It was a nice walk, made more so by the pub lunch, and we will definitely be going back.

Visited mid-week with friends, great atmosphere, great food and super friendly staff. Drinks seemed a bit pricey but the food was good value. Thank you.

Had a great t-bone steak. My friend had a sausage and big Yorkshire pudding. The food is great. Great service.

Absolutely great place to visit. The location is great, right on the canal. I could imagine when it is busy the waiting time may increase, but the meals are worth waiting for
