Absolutely wonderful. Great vibe and great food. I also surprisingly enjoyed the stuffed peppers. The pizza/crust was delicious. We went on a weekday, so the place wasn't too busy and service was very fast. The one downside worth noting is that there was no bread :/

Fun. Sleek..Modern. In downtown Berkeley. Only negative is the slow service and disorganized service

Great atmosphere but the food was just ok. We had a margaritas pizza. It is crispy but the taste is very average. The best thing I ordered is the homemade ginger soda. I can actually taste the ginger!! The price of the food i would sad was a bit expensive for its value. However, it was a great place for a large group gathering.

Nice, clean, open restaurant with high ceilings that's great for groups, kids, and sports fans (has at least 6 huge screens tuned into the 2018 World Series). There's a bocce ball court that was not crowded when we ate & played at 6 on a Sat. Good selection of cocktails, wine, & beer. Food is good to above average with some vegetarian options. Service was good and fast.

The cocktails are excellent, the food is delicious, service is pretty good, bocce is fun, and having DJs is a plus! I always have a great time when I visit. Brooke is a skilled, friendly bartender who makes you feel welcome. Looking forward to venturing beyond the pizzas, which are so freaking good!

Great food, great people. The manager took the time to tell me about the place. They redid the place last year. It has been the same family operating this restaurant since the 1960's though. Before, it used to be a car repair shop in the 30's.

I had always enjoyed my dining experiences at Giovanni's, it always felt like an authentic East Coast Italian restaurant, right down to the red and white chequered linen tablecloths. So for my first visit to Gio's I entered the place with a touch of apprehension. I could instantly see that it's urban, young, trendy decor, loud(ish) muzak and open plan concept had completely swept away any atmosphere of the old place. I was pleased to see however that one of the lovely murals had been cleaned and freshened up, so maybe all is not lost after all. I could only hope that the food was still as good as it was at Giovanni's. I was very happy to find out that the food was indeed still good. Although it would've been nice to have had some bread to mop up the delicious sauce! I was also happy to see that the new management has preserved the old back room, it's kind of comforting to know the old Giovanni's isn't entirely gone.

Great food, particularly the cucumber salad, linguine with clams and pizza. Specialty drinks are interesting - particularly liked the Palazzo - and bartender is great. Love the mural behind the bar, and the big open windows to the street. Great for just hanging out with friends.
