10.14.23 ♥️
We saw only this venue and put down a deposit. Our actual day was magical! Even with the rain moving our ceremony inside I wouldn’t have had it any other way. As soon as you drive into the property every detail makes this place so surreal. There’s so many photo opportunities within the property. Plenty of parking. The s’more section outside adds such a unique activity to your big day. The bridal suite or the “rose room” is like a live panting. Every piece of furniture chosen perfectly to tie everything together. Every guest went on and on about how beautiful the venue was. Amelia was very helpful and responsive during the entire planning process. My side was mainly from Chicago and we all made it a weekend getaway. Much an easy drive. But definitely out of the busy city feels. My wedding was absolutely perfect. And the venue had a lot to do with it. Blue dress barn is a superb venue. Forever thankful - Mr & Mrs smith
It was a pleasure to work with Danielle. I really appreciated that she was clear, professional, and easy to communicate with. It’s very apparent that much love has been put into the quality and beauty of the property. As an event planner, I would recommend to future brides.

Such a beautiful venue for a wedding. Went there on Friday the 13th for a wedding and with the overcast evening and slight rain it made the perfect location for a great time and night!
I loved every second of shooting this wedding at blue dress barn (Emma Varley Photography). This venue is spacious and full of different areas for the perfect photo opportunities. From a photographers point of view this venue has spectacular lighting that leads to the look of an effortlessly beautiful wedding! I would recommend this venue to any of my couples and look forward to working here again this summer.
I'm so happy we chose Blue Dress Barn for our wedding venue. It barely needs any decor because it's just so beautiful by itself. From the first tour we were in love. Everyone was amazing to work with, Amelia was super quick to respond to all of my questions, and the overall experience with working with BDB was great. You can really tell that they care about the property - if you are even on the fence about having your wedding here I highly recommend taking a tour just to see it - you will be blown away.
The Blue Dress Barn was the first venue my husband and I looked at for our wedding. We were amazed and surprised by it. I compared it to a giant ship turned upside down - with tall wooden walls arching up and up. There were also big open doors and windows letting the outside in. We looked and looked at the different spaces all around where we live in Chicago but my mind kept returning to how at home I felt in the Barn. We both loved the look and feel of it and we had to acknowledge that, between the Christmas lights that are already strung up in the space and the light coming in through the open windows, we didn't really need to do much of our own decorating. When I saw the photos after the fact, I realized that every aspect of The Blue Dress Barn - from the grounds, to the ceremony location, to the reception area - is objectively lovely. Cared for and curated without losing its natural wild beauty. Even the bride and grooms suites provided a comfortable respite while also being full of style and color. My husband and I got married on a Sunday, a day in which the reasonably priced rental at The Barn is even more reasonably priced. Another major budgetary plus of getting married in Michigan: there are great catering options for our party that didn't cost 2 to 3 times the price of the venue rental, as we were seeing in Chicago.
Also, a lot of venues want you to squeeze your event into a short timeline, but the Barn really lets you take advantage of the whole day.
My favorite part of The Blue Dress Barn was its management. Amelia, the owner, always got back to me within 24 hours and often much much sooner: usually within the hour. Amelia takes everything in stride. Whether it was answering questions, helping solve problems, providing frank answers about heat/cold/rain and other weather related contingency plans or giving out gentle bits of requested advice... she was just absolutely on top of it all. Her fast, accurate and personal responses really cut down on my anxiety and let me believe that she was truly invested in the success of the whole day.
If you're looking for a vintage, rustic, and bohemian wedding venue combined all in one, look no further. This is the place for you. My husband and I got married here on 9.1.23 and it was the most outstanding wedding ever. The barn is such a statement piece and that’s what made us fall in love with the Blue Dress Barn. Not to mention, there are numerous photo opportunities and outdoor spaces with seating and a campfire area.
Our guests who attended have been raving about our wedding and how amazing the venue was. We couldn't have chosen a better venue for our wedding.
I have been dreaming to get married at the Blue Dress Barn for probably over 10 years after finding it as a teenager scrolling through Pinterest - it was everything I could have imagined and much much more. The entire property is absolutely beautiful and it is the perfect place to have both the ceremony and the reception. I live out of town and planning a wedding a couple hours away & in only a few months time was a little stressful - but the barn management was so responsive and helpful whenever I sent them emails with tons of questions. During the tour, the consultation, and then the rehearsal and wedding day, the manager Beth was there and she was so helpful with everything. I did not have a wedding planner so I had lots of family members helping out the day of while I was getting ready and she helped all of them getting things ready. She was so helpful to the entire process. One of the best parts about getting married at the Blue Dress Barn was that besides the basic: linens, flowers, and pictures, the barn does not need any decorations. It is beautiful left as is and saves tons of money in the long run not having to spend money on decorations. Lastly, I don’t think my guests ever stopped talking about how beautiful the venue was, I think everyone who came had so much fun wandering the grounds and marveling and the beauty of the barn. So if you are thinking about getting married here - DO IT! It was absolutely the best day of my life and I could have not imagined it being at any other venue.
Also - as being a budget conscious bride, I weighed the pros and cons of getting married at one of the more expensive venues of all the ones we looked at, but realistically it did not end up being much more expensive due to everything that comes included that you don’t have to rent/buy, plus not spending money on decorations saved lots.
Everything about Blue Dress Barn is absolute perfection. It is the most gorgeous wedding venu we toured while also being the most affordable?? Amazing!
The owners Amelia and Kirby are excellent communicators. I sent Amelia so many emails with questions and ideas and she always responded almost immediately every time.
Our guests are still raving that it was THE best most beautiful/unique wedding they have ever been to. If you are considering Blue Dress Barn but you are unsure, just schedule a tour and you will have your answer immediately when you step foot on the property :)
The preferred vendors list is great. CK catering was absolutely delicious, great communicators as well, and designed a custom menu for our Thanksgiving/autumn theme. The Bartenders and barn staff were amazing as well!
The Blue Dress Barn event coordinator Beth made us feel so comfortable and we knew we were in such good hands. She knows the venue inside and out and and helped our wedding run seamlessly and answered all of our on site questions in the days leading up to the wedding.
Our wedding was initially booked for October of 2020. We made the difficult decision to move our date to October of 2021. I didn't want any restrictions at our wedding so it was worth waiting an additional year. Amelia handled the 2020 situation with grace and kindness. Her business was turned upside down and she was still so accommodating and kind. Please disregard all negative reviews related to 2020. The contract is very clear that the deposit is non refundable. But Amelia and Kirby will work with you and compromise and find a date that works for you no matter what!
If you want a unique fairy tale wedding that will create memories that will last a lifetime, you need to get married at Blue Dress Barn
The Blue Dress Barn was the most absolute stunning venue for our wedding! The wedding was October 9, 2022. The weather was perfect . The leaves were beginning to change colors. The atmosphere inside the barn is just magical. Less decorations is better. Amelia was so easy to work with and accommodated all of our needs. This truly was a wedding that we consider PERFECT! The bartenders were top notch and so nice and courteous. We used CK Catering and they provided all of the table linens and dinner ware/glass ware. Their food was so delicious and they cleaned up quickly after the wedding .
The ceremony site outside of the barn was gorgeous. It provides an area for photos that are to die for . A small area outside for cocktail hour after the ceremony was perfect. They have a fire pit and as long as you bring wood they will provide a fire outside for your guests and they have a person tending to the fire during the evening . The two areas for the bride and bridesmaids and groom and groomsmen to get ready for their special day was so fun and unique.
We can’t say enough good things about this venue ! Absolutely gorgeous !
