Review Leslie's The Tavern At Rockingham - Bellows Falls

First time at Leslie’s. We were astounded from start to finish. Being new to the area it was the quintessential, family run, Vermont restaurant. We ordered the house special salad. Killer. I ordered the Pescatora. The scallops were like butter. My partner ordered the Chicken Madeira. That came with a side of acorn squash that she still hasn’t stopped talking about. Finished with two cappuccinos and carrot cake. We cannot rave enough about this place. The friendliest staff. Pretty certain Leslie was our server. We will be coming back if not for dinner, for their cooking classes!

Found this little gem on a road trip home. It was so quaint and cozy. We stopped for dinner and it was such an amazing experience. From being greeted by Leslie herself to the delicious meal I only wish we could return more frequently. Set inside a house setting is a beautiful spacious dining room with a wood stove, dimmed lights and acoustic music playing. It was such a nice experience and the food was beyond exceptional. This place is a must to visit.

It's an inspiring family-owned restaurant. The food is absolutely great (thanks John), and the service is beyond. Leslie makes sure you feel at home, and it always amazes me how she manages to be everywhere, from hosting, serving, bussing and influencing in the menu. Every time we come to Vermont we try stopping by.

We had early dinner on a beautiful evening and sat on the deck overlooking the garden. Extremely relaxing with a nice drink. I got the mushroom soup which was outstanding. Our waitress had brought a basket of fresh bread and warned us it was hot out of the oven. I used a piece not destined for the olive oil dip to eat with the soup. Dinner was great, pescatore with plenty of scallops, shrimp and calamari, finished with crème brulee. I believe we have found our new anniversary destination.

Leslie’s hosted a birthday celebration for my wife. The setup was perfect and the food was great. They were even able to accommodate our young granddaughters. Great day at our favorite place.

What a fantastic place we stumbled upon! It was our first time here, as we were visiting for the weekend. We did not know what to expect, but the menu looked great online. We were pleasantly surprised by the cozy atmosphere right when we walked in the door. It has the quintessential antique Vermont feel. We were seated by the fireplace, a wood-burning woodstove. The owner, Leslie, stopped by the table shortly after to greet us. Her husband is the chef, and she told us the story of how it all started. We were happy to chat with her, and hear about everything from the start of the restaurant to the signature dishes and cocktails. Now onto the food and drink! First of all, the pomegranate martini was incredible. You have to ask for it. I don’t know that is going to be a regular offering, as it was a special on the blackboard when we walked in. So glad we tried it, we had several at the table. The pork chop was the most tender and delicious I have ever had. We learned that the pork came from a local farm. You can absolutely tell. The butternut squash that was served alongside was also literally the best I’ve ever had. One of the two “secret ingredients”, a little bit of orange juice in it! We had to ask, because it was that good. We also tried the chicken curry, delicious! The steak was perfect. All of the ingredients are fresh. Each dish is made to order. It shows! Whenever possible, ingredients are sourced locally. That also shows! We completely loved the atmosphere. Casual, quaint, and cozy. We will definitely be back! Thank you to Leslie and her husband, the chef! It was quite a memorable evening.

Awesome all around! The couple that own it are so welcoming and friendly it shows throughout the restaurant. The building itself is a pleasure to visit and see inside a nicely renovated old 1800s farm house complete with wood burning stove and I saw a nice patio outside for the summer but the food is the reason to keep coming back! Everything we ate from the bread with pesto oil to the soups to the strip steak special then to the carrot cake was OUTSTANDING! We also had a few Fiddlehead IPAs on draft which were nicely chilled and raising fresh. Highly reccomend making this a stop if your traveling through on rout 91 just mins from the highway and sooo much better than a fast food truck stop. The menu had a few locally sourced products and love supporting small businesses! We will most definitely be back.

We've had a home 15 minutes from Leslie's Tavern for quite a few years now, but somehow never made it there for dinner. Tonight, that changed! We had the most wonderful meal, served by the absolutely delightful Leslie, herself! We expected a good meal, based on the reviews we'd read, but what we got was far more than "good." We got a sweet ambiance in a beautiful farmhouse, a lovely server, and a meal that was absolutely divine. (We also got to watch Leslie shooing away a fat little chipmunk who was nibbling on the tomato plants -- the chippie may have been annoying, but boy was he cute! ) The food was the true star tonight - excellent quality, thoughtfully made... rather like elevated comfort food. We both had the steak smothered in onions with a wonderful sauce on it. The veggies were crisp and fresh. The people at the table next to us got a salad as a starter, and it looked amazing! (Mental note made for next time!) Dessert was not to be missed -- the carrot cake was delicious, and the creme brulee was just as good. My husband had one of the current specialty drinks with dinner and really enjoyed it -- I think it was a bourbon and maple old fashioned. We told Leslie to expect us back soon -- we plan to become "regulars"! A bonus -- they have several gluten free options, and fully understand the need to avoid cross-contamination for those with a true gluten allergy.

Vase the best reviews about this place. And all of them were absolutely true! We ordered 4 dishes of like 4 cuisines, and all of them were remarkable, especially the tomato and cheddar soup;) Leslie, the owner, is very nice and caring! Cozy restaurant and Christmas atmosphere🎅🏻🎄

Enjoyed yet another delicious meal at Leslie's Tavern - this time for my birthday. We have greatly enjoyed this chef-owned, local restaurant for years. The food is always delicious, fresh and seasonal, the owners and staff extremely welcoming and friendly, and the atmosphere cozy, relaxed and leisurely. You never feel rushed when you dine there. I am happy to support this local gem - especially after/during a very stressful period for the restaurant industry. I know that it continues to be extremely difficult to hire and retain staff and the cost for ingredients and restaurant supplies continues to increase. I am so thankful that John, Leslie and their staff continue to work hard to keep the restaurant open and maintain a wonderful dining experience. Thank you!

Stopped in last night for a quick bite after an event at Grafton Inn. Can not say enough good things, we called ahead to make sure they were still serving and told they were stopping soon but would wait for our party of 4. The drinks top notch, the food was delicious and conversation with owners at the end of the night was fantastic ending.

Traveling through Vermont and chanced upon this wonderful restaurant. The lovely flowers outside attracted our eye and we popped in for a quick bite to eat. We have been on the road for about a week and I have to say this has been the finest meal we have had to date. I highly recommend this restaurant to any traveller.

There is a limited menu BUT the food was EXCELLENT!! The soups were delicious; the stuffed mushrooms were absolutely flavorful, the duck breast was moist and tender and the green beans were blanched PERFECTLY. Will be recommending this gem to everyone.

Found this place at random while on our anniversary weekend. They would like you to make reservations, but they had a table available for us. The food was the most delectable we've had in a long time. Locally sourced and well seasoned delicious food, from the salad and appetizers to the steak and pasta. Nice ambiance and quiet atmosphere. Recommend calling ahead and I'm sure whatever you order will be excellent.

Very good food, prompt service, and friendly atmosphere. Too bad only open for dinner.

Understaffed, Unprepared, Disorganized. The worst service, ever. Don't order chicken fingers for your kids - greasy patties. Cheapest white bread they could possibly use. We actually served our own water. No dressing on the caesar salad, none that was visible. Over rated, over priced, under delivered.

Interesting Experience, Great Food. Small family restaurant. They open for dinner at 5pm, right at 5pm. Made reservations for 5, so naturally we arrived earlier around 4:30 and no one answered the door. Would have liked to sit inside prior to dining. Leslie was away, so Kim waited on us. She was very polite and service was great. Atmosphere was quite and comfortable, but dark. Although the wine list is small, the selection was adequate based on the menu.<br/> I had the duck which was cooked to perfection. Not greasy or dry. My wife had the scallops with potatoes. They were very tender with a full flavor. I would recommend dining here, but plan on spending an hour or two.
