El Patron Mexican Restaurant

With the intent to make a u-turn looking for a Mexican restaurant I coincidentally ended up in an entry way to El Patrons Mexican Restaurant. There were no real indications to my knowledge of this restaurant until I saw the front door and thought, I’ve never been to this restaurant so why not. Upon entering the restaurant I noticed that there was nothing special about the dining area but your typical seating area with the server seating us at our table. Looking through the menu my mouth was already salivating at having explored yet another Mexican restaurant across the border which usually tend to be my favorite places to eat. The sever was great. He offered us drinks and took our order with a smile, but when the food got to the table I noticed that the plates that were served didn’t really have any kind of a Shazam type presentation. I ordered a chicken mole which was literally soaked and a liquid soup type sauce which wasn’t exactly what I had been expecting according to other places I’ve been. The taste was also missing something. Yet again my expectations were let down 😢. Not wanting to bash this restaurant because I’m pretty sure they have plates that they specialize in in order to get the ratings that I have read here. It just wasn’t for me. Besides that, happy eating!!!

I’ve ordered the El Patron Special every time I come here and I’ve never been disappointed- it’s so tasty and something that I can’t usually order at other Mexican restaurants. The waitstaff here is always smiling and friendly and it seems like they enjoy the work. My favorite Mexican food in Bellingham!

My family wanted to try something besides Mi Mexico and El Gitano... We've eaten there so many times. So we tried El Patron, and they are going to be our go-to Mexican place now! Excellent food. Not one complaint from three picky children and a very picky wife. Surprisingly, it was not busy. There was only one other table for our entire time there. The service was also very good. The waiter was attentive, and quick and not bothersome I'd recommend this place for sure.

Every time we go there it's not busy....which I like. I don't wanna feel rushed like I do at Mi Mexico. Antonio the waiter is very nice and attentive. I always go basic with the 2/3 item combo plate. Then my wife gets the special dish and we share. Food is good. If you need a 5 star restaurant this ain't the place....it's just a nice & relaxing meal, you can kick back to....music on Saturday Night's on certain dates as well.

This place is literally a hidden gem. Super friendly waiter, great food and great prices! We love it and come here all the time. If you’ve never been here, you have to make it here to eat and drink. If the parking lot is empty, don’t be scared...park and come on in! Very welcoming staff and excellent food, you won’t be disappointed.
