Nice place. Fred's is tucked away below Fred's General Store upstairs. It is a great place on top of Beech Mountain to eat deli sandwiches and burgers. Don't be fooled by the map... Fred's is all the way up Beech Mountain, so this is a good place if you are already on top, or if you want a scenic drive up.
If they don't have it you don't need it! They have everything! I'm so glad I caught Fred there as he was a wonderful friend to my dad, one of his best friends. It was great catching up. I could spend hours browsing the store or just sitting in one of the many areas. The view is gorgeous, the restaurant serves fantastic food. One stop shopping on top of Beech Mtn.
Fred's is Amazing!! They had all we needed to stock our cabin, we bought some if the high quality clothing, and they even came out and put air in my tire at no charge. Definately our GO TO spot on the mountain!
The food was delicious. I loved the small town diner feel. Had a lot of choices.
We popped in here for a quick treat. I got a coffee and cookies to split with the kids. Coffee was okay but they only had Coffee Mates and not regular half and half and it was too sweet for my liking. The young lady at the register apologized and let me just swap it for a soda instead. It's a really cute little stop and the cookies were pretty tasty!
Nothing unique except consistently good food. Very quaint and friendly atmosphere. The Reuben and the steak and cheese sandwiches are very good.
If there’s anywhere to get breakfast in this town, this is the place to come! We ate here every single day of our trip. Always homemade and friendly staff. Certainly would recommend their breakfast biscuits and the biscuits and gravy so delicious!
Very friendly staff, great food and very convenient too. Offering groceries, beer and wine! I even saw clothing and hardware to boot!
We recently stayed on Beech Mountain and this little restaurant was located about 5 minutes from where we are staying. This is a nice little local place to grab some food. I tried the burger and my wife ordered the vegetable soup. Both items were good. We also stopped by the next day to morning to get breakfast to go, we tried the sausage egg and cheese biscuit. Staff was very friendly, definitely a convenient place to grab a quick bite if you are on the mountain.
Loved shopping here! And the staff gives you great service and even recommendations if you ask about the area. Don't miss the clearance room for some great deals on Sorel shoes, Columbia, and other things. I bought a pair of Sorel sandals and a long sleeve top that had Beech Mountain on it and these were like a textured shirt not a tee so they were different which is cool when you have so many regular tees and the women's colors were coral and a light blue green. They also have Cheerwine and Cheerwine Zero and other goodies, candy etc and I bought a little train set for someone for their baby shower. Each train is a letter of the alphabet and then you hook them together to spell their name or last name or whatever you want. Made of wood. Super cute! The store is real close to the lodge.
Gotta check the place out! We enjoyed breakfast here on our last day on the mountain. Staff was nice and we didn't have to wait long for food even though they were slammed.
The sign reads: "The Best Breakfast In Beech" --- and I will not disagree!
We enjoyed a "Big Country Breakfast" with a Biscuit with Sausage Gravy.
These were: "slap your grandma" good!
Each Breakfast is made to order so don't get in a hurry. But do not worry --- it's worth the wait.
This was just the cutest. We walked around the store and got some homemade jam, then went to the deli downstairs. Everything was delicious, definitely a favorite in the area!
We didn't try tje food at the deli area we shopped the grocery area. The prices were high. The staff was friendly and the store was beautiful.
Had a nice breakfast. Everyone was polite and friendly. Food was good. Did some shopping upstairs. Would have been nice to have a sign indicating which was the entrance to the restaurant.
Breakfast sandwiches -excellent, fast, crumbly biscuits and bacon like I like! Great sunroom, back deck, and fun to shop upstairs after. Had breakfast here everyday once we discovered it. Can request bigger mug for your coffee. Great prices.
We wanted to eat here so bad but they were packed. I could see some of the food on the plates and it looked delicious and the prices were reasonable. There were a few open tables but they were being saved by a family so we ended up checking out Fred’s Mercantile and grocery and the ski rental shop. The view would have been beautiful too!
Good food, ordered egg and cheese biscuits. Takeout took longer than I would usually expect. Solid food, great location.
