Stopped by here randomly while shopping and had and excellent lunch. The place was busy for a mid-week day, but the wait staff was on it and we were seated promptly. Comfortable, warm seating, place done up like an English pub on the inside, the bar was an interesting centerpiece to the entire restaurant.
My bangers and mash were very good, have not had this dish properly done in a while. Sausages cooked to perfection and the peas and carrots were a nice touch. Their scotch setup was perfect - served neat with a small amount of ice and water to adjust as I saw fit - very well done!
Overall, good meal, good ambiance, and a full belly when leaving!

Excellent scotch eggs, perfectly cooked, but too much mustard (it has the effect of burning your sinuses a bit).
Great atmosphere, except for the music which was a mix of American and British rock. This is a British pub. The music should be all British, to complete the effect.
Best outdoor patio at the Greene. Great service (thanks Louise!)

Wow! The BEST fish and Chips I have had since I was in London last year. So tasty! They use Haddock which usually I never see in the states for fish and chips. So good. Also try the Gouda Mac n Cheese!!! EAT HERE!

Let me start by just saying that the food here, is simply phenomenal. If you are craving scratch made, rib sticking comfort food, this should be your place to come. The bartenders, Allie and Kaitlyn, are wonderful. I always feel like family. My recommendation is the Scotch eggs and Shepard's pie. All dishes are made from scratch and the care and quality definitely shows. They also offer a wonderful brunch on weekends, including a full English breakfast and "hangover bowl". Do yourself a favor and stop by. Grab yourself a Carlsberg from the bar and treat yourself!

The Pub is awesome. They have a fun energetic atmosphere and the food is good quality and always comes out hot. They have the best mules and the best fried pickles I've ever had. Our service was excellent. We go on a regular basis. Good vibes, good service, good food, good drinks, good joint overall.

We have always loved eating at the Pub, but not only is it a great restaurant it's an amazing event space too! We used the patio for our small wedding this past year and everyone was so accommodating. From our initial meeting, to working with us on our menu, to the actual ceremony and dinner it was a breeze! I am not at all sad that we had to downsize our big venue, my only regret is that we didn't start with the Pub to begin with! The food is always delicious, the space beautiful (they even let us bring in our own decor <3 ). Next time you need a shower, party, or even full on wedding cereminy you should start with the Pub :) PS: The Greene makes a for beautiful backdrop in photos

Second time I've been here. First was with my family, just to have dinner. That was great. This time, day drinking with the woman... Even better experience. Dominic is one of the best bartenders I've come across in 23+ years. Great place to hangout or bring your family.

I came in for dinner and had Tessa as my server and she was so kind and amazing. She was literally the best server I’ve had in a very long time. She was fast, on top of everything and so so friendly. She made dining in a great experience and we will definitely be coming back and will be asking for her.

This place is wonderful for a night out on the town. The service is great and they have lots of variety of Pub food. I suggest the beef pub pretzel sandwich added with mashed potatoes , it is superb, or also the fish and chips which you can also share, a fish each to eat , is also very tasty and to end the meal , they have wonderful coffee. I will always come back to this eatery

Been twice now and love this place. The patio is great with TVs and darts; even has heater for those cooler fall days. Food is flavorful and portions are large. Absolutely love the scotch egg... just as I remember them in England. Just don't let the prices scare you. While the good and service is great, the price keeps this from earning a 5 star review. Decent selection of draught beers as well, including Guinness on nitro.

I can not understand why I agreed to have drinks and food at the Pub on Friday...insane, yes this is a very popular place to get together and have a great time, a wrong move for Friday thou.. we should have chosen later or during the week. fun time but we are now looking for the next stop to have dinner...

We keep coming back to the Pub. The food is great and the servers are friendly. My wife and I recently shared the cranberry pecan salad and buttermilk chicken with the bacon wrapped dates appetizer to start. FANTASTIC!

Food and beer that are bad for you. The perfect place.. This place is filled with many selections of spirits, great food, and an interior that makes you never want to leave. Perfect for family's, friends, or just if you want to grab a drink. Also has exterior and semi-exterior seating. Best fried pickles you can find outside of Maryland, and even has beer my wife will drink.

Went in the middle of a week day and service was very good. I had fish tacos and my wife had the Bellhaven Burger. Both were very flavorful. Our server, Shelby, did a great job. I asked a question about how the food was prepared and she got my answer quickly.

Bad food, high prices & trashy servers. Our first visit to the Pub will undoubtedly be our last. Crowded tables jammed in so tight there is no room to walk through. Understaffed. Disorganized. TINY portions of food ...all waaaaaaay overpriced. Servers are rude and the ridiculous outfits they were are beyond trashy. You will leave feeling ripped off...and still hungry. I have no idea why people go here.

Loved it!. I walked over to The Pub today, having put off my visit given the mediocre reviews. I was pleasantly surprised. I had the Fish and Chips. A generous single side of white fish, perhaps cod or halibut, hot and fresh, served over steak fries. I found it tasty and what I was looking for! Washed down with a Kentucky Bourbon Ale (a bit burbony for me, but what did I expect), and washed it out with a pint of Newcastle. All in all I enjoyed it, and I look forward to coming back for the Shepard's Pie! Quick friendly service (love the kilts). All that's missing is a place to sit with a cigar amd a pint...

Love it!. We've been there a few times and each time fantastic. I get the "sliders" and they are so good. Great beer choices as well.

We love that we can go somewhere and they actually have soccer (football) games on! Nice little treat there!

The interior is old English style and quite comfy.

Very tasty food, large portions. Great selection of beers. Can be a long wait

LOVE IT!. Just got back from The Pub on this rainy, wet Wednesday. Thought it would be nice to go here to get my first non-meat meal for Lent. Overall GREAT experience. Waitress was nice and the food was brought out in no time. The fish and chips were delicious. They give generous portions for those who like to indulge. Definitely one of the finer places to eat at the Greene. Gets my vote for best atmosphere too. If you haven't been, go.

My husband and I just got back from a very enjoyable evening spent at The Pub. Considering it was a "hump day" Wednesday and we were both feeling that we needed a little taste of England, this is just what we ordered. Our server was fantastic (unlike other reviewers of the Pub). He was attentive without being annoying and was prompt with bringing beverages, our appetizers and then delivering our fish and chips at just the right time. LOVE all of the brews that they offer on tap. I particularly love their beer sampler. 4- 4 oz. beer of your choice. So nice on a crummy, hump day.

Love the fish and chips. Good beer selection and atmosphere

I love the goat cheese appetizer. The bourbon salmon is delicious. I go with my husband and I don't even like beer

Worst service I have ever had anywhere. Had there been male genitalia at our table we might have rated better service, maybe. Had to ask the "hostess" three times to track down our server. Waited 30 minutes just to get water and get our order in. Wouldn't have waited so long any other rime but I kept hoping it would get better. It never did. Won't go back.

Lots of room for improvement.... I've got major mixed feelings on The Pub. The food is hit or miss-- I love their welsh dip a lot, and their fish and chips aren't bad (especially half price during trivia on Monday). I like their curry sauce, and love their goat cheese dip. Their fries are underwhelming, their toasties are okay one day and gross the next. Everything is overpriced. There's been times I've not been warned about an additional fee for certain things, like additional pita bread, and got a surprise when the bill came. Service is generally awful, I've lost track of the times I've had to ask my server for something multiple times before it arrives (if they ever remember). The dress required for servers is tacky, especially the short mini plaid skirts for the ladies. It is always crowded and very, very loud.

Maybe I'm spoiled because I've been to actual pubs in the UK that were (thankfully) nothing like this. But if they claim to be authentic, I think it's fair to hold them to that.

English Pub?. Well, The Pub is probably the closest you will get to a real English pub here in the United States. I mean by that, of course, the this establishment is nothing like an English pub. First of all, the beer in a real English pub makes the beer at The Pub seem like weak like Bud Lite. The atmosphere in a real English pub is laid back and inviting. The Pub is loud and there are tens of people running around at any given time. I find myself quite nervous while in The Pub due to all the noise and business. I'm not sure I understand why the staff is dressed as they are. It's a bit strange; they were all wearing soccer shirts and kilts when I was there. Do Americans like to stereotype everything? It seems so. In summary, this place is very American, and you'll just have to go to Europe for the real pub experience. You won't regret it.
Chris
An occasional treat. I've been to The Pub about 10 times over the past three years. I don't go often, but the food and beer is always excellent every time I do. They have a decent sampling of British food, like shepherd's pie and fish and chips. Their breakfast plate includes baked beans. They also have plenty of American food, like buffalo wings and burgers (though I guess those might also be British to some degree). One of their renowned items is fried pickles. I'm not always a super adventurous person when it comes to food, but after some coaxing, both the pickles and the shepherd's pie won me over. I even tried beans and Guinness with breakfast and it was pretty good (they sometimes open early for games in the soccer season). The buffalo wings are also pretty awesome.

It's not a true British pub, but when it comes to the beer selection, it might be the closest you can get. They have beer from a few European countries, actually. On tap. They used to have a cask beer that changed every once in a while. I'm not exactly sure what benefit it provided, as I never partook, but my friends usually enjoyed it. I mention this because it may actually still be there, even though I think I overheard a waitress say they don't have it any more the last time I was there.

Service... can be a little lousy. They get really, really busy in the evening and at night, and I try to avoid going at those times. At other times, it's not so bad.

As for prices, it's not cheap. Foreign beers are 5 or 6 bucks, I think (not much point in getting domestic at a British pub). Food prices are a little high too, but the quality is high enough that I don't mind it too much as long as my visits aren't too frequent.

One thing I don't usually notice is the music, but it's usually really good here (25yo male, for reference). I think they play typical bar music at night (which is OK), but I hear a lot of 90's alternative in the afternoon/evenings (which is awesome). Not much British-sounding music though. And even though they seem to target a younger audience with this, I always see people of all ages whenever I go in. So apparently it's not too overbearing if that's not your preferred music.

All in all, despite the crap service and the high prices, the great food, beautiful decor, and great atmosphere make it a really fun place to eat and drink with friends every once in a while.

Great beer selection and tasty pub food!. The Pub is a great place to have a few pints and chat with friends. The bar is big and they have a lot of brews on tap you don't see in most Dayton bars (Belhaven Twisted Thistle IPA being my personal favorite). The beer sampler is great if you want to try several new brews but don't want to commit to a pint. The service is quite good, although this place gets extremely busy between about 4:30 and 8 PM every night, and stays pretty busy even in the afternoons on the weekends due to "mall traffic" at the Greene.

Classic. The Pub has excellent fish and chips (dead heat between this place and DubPub). World Cup action was awesome to watch here! Staff is always friendly. I think I'll go here tonight. Massive beer menu!
Kyle Freesen
True Pub Fare. The title really says it! If you're looking for a more British experience in Dayton, here it is. The detailing inside is very well done and football is on the flat screens!

Have the Fish and Chips it's well-portioned and done to perfection.

The upscale restaurant sports a massive bar stocked to the gills with a varieties of beers, malt liquors, cocktails, and an abundance of English foods and dishes cooked and meant to be eaten with a good drink.

...one of my best gals craves the curry fries at The Pub. I'd never had them, or even seen them - but I assumed they must be worth the trip.
