Review French Quarter Bistro - Baton Rouge

Everything was amazing from the host to the ambience. The restaurant Is very cozy and dim. The food was excellent. The roasted duck was cooked to perfection. The char grilled oysters were yummy and huge. The ribeye was juicy even the next day. I will definitely visit here again and again.

We went here for a birthday celebration and unfortunately it was mediocre and not worth the prices. The food was served warm but not hot and the temperature was wrong on the filets with them being over cooked. One person ordered the ribeye and it had more fat that meat. Of all the food we ate in our party the best things were the bread and butter and the grits which says alot. The food was ok but the steaks especially were dissapointing for the price point especially when compared to other area restaurants. The two martinis I had were delicious. I ordered cheesecake for dessert to go and I was very surprised to see that it appeared to be two layers but the top layer was almost an inch of plain cream cheese which was very strange and disappointing. The service was slow and it took a very long time to get our checks correct and paid. I personally can not recommend this restaurant. My meal cost over $100 but the food and service would have been better at Outback or any other lower cost alternative. The ambiance was nice and we had a private room but it did not make up for the food at all. Not a single person in our party said they would come back or recommend to others. Edited review just add the picture I had of that sad excuse of a cheesecake.

The food, as always, was very good. Atmosphere is so nice. Great lunch place. Our server this time was not great. She was very slow and it almost felt like we were bothering her. That service is not typical for this quaint little place. Definitely recommend.

French Market Bistro is nestled in the rear of the shopping center located off Highland Rd in Baton Rouge. We received a gift certificate from our Realtor Mary Birch at Team Smith Realty. We decided on Saturday lunch then called for a reservation. We were informed that the reservation link on their website is no longer valid. Just call them for the reservation. When we arrived parking was easy to find but we were early lunch and when we left the parking lot was filling up. We were seated immediately and served water as soon as we were settled in. Our server was Alissa. She came along with menus and introduced herself after the water was served. We started with Bistro Crab Cakes and Duck and Shrimp Egg Rolls. The crab cakes were so delicious, packed with crab meat, seasoned to perfection. The egg rolls were a pleasent surprise, topped with mustard and served with a sweet & sour sauce. The flavors all went together nicely. My husband had a cup of the Crab and Bree soup. He said one of the best creamy soups he has had. It's one of their most requested menu items. Paired with their Artisan bread and you've got a great starter to any meal. We both decided on Taste Of Louisiana Flash Fried Crab Cakes, Oysters, Shrimp, Catfish & Fries for our entree. The portion was perfect the fry was crisp and season to perfection. The fries looked as though they were fresh made to order. I really enjoyed the house tartar and cocktail sauces. I spoke of my love oysters and Alissa shared some Chargrilled Oysters with me and I will forever be sure to order a side of these with my meal. Best oyster I have ever had! We didn't have much room left but couldn't leave without trying the Bistro Cheesecake. I absolutely love cheesecake! We couldn't decide between strawberry and lemon but eventually went with strawberry. Let me tell you it did not disappoint, not too sweet or sour. Just the right amount of balance between all. I will be back in next week for the lemon especially since she said it's houseade lemon curd! To sum it up, everything was balanced and you could tell it was made with love and care. The service was over excellent, great job Alissa. A big thanks to the bussers for keeping the table clear and to the Chef for attention to every little detail, we noticed! Broavo! Patrons for life!!! Love this place! Amazing food & service for lunch or dinner. Great wine selection. Very friendly staff, good atmosphere, clean. Highly recommend!

This place is fancy. Clean, and the people here are polite and professional. The firecracker shrimp was a great way to start before the 2 dozen charbroiled oysters.

Always a top notch dining experience at FMB. The fish special was delicious!

Incredible flavor in everything from the cocktails to the scallops. Things to get: the chargrilled oysters, the crabmeat cannelloni, the lamb chops, the scallops, **THE BREAD PUDDING**. I have been on a quest for the best bread pudding in existence for most of my life. French market bistro takes the cake at this point (with City Pork, and the magnolia room coming in 2nd and 3rd). The Louisiana lust dessert was also really good.
