Review La Mexicana - Baton Rouge

The owner was nice and friendly, the waitress at the bar was not as welcoming. The sauces had no flavor. I got one pork, chicken and steak and the meat was not very discernible. I was expecting my sautéed onions to be inside the tacos. My to go plate wasn't very sturdy. It kind of reminded me of taking an aluminum foil covered leftovers plate from someone's house.

First time here and the food is not to bad tea was great salsa no good they have no breakfast tacos no crane guisada no leamonad not a great place to eat Mexican food dont be fooled by the name.

Authentic Mexican food. Taco Tuesday special. Really good, tender barbacoa burrito 🌯. Chips and salsa come with meal.

I ordered fajitas, I gotta a sizzling plate of onions and bell peppers and a very small amount of meat and they were not seasoned. The tortillas were store bought and tasteless. The beans were runny and the rice was dry. My wife got a burrito and it was tasteless as well because there was no seasoning. The chips were from a bag and they seemed to be cheap. However, the people are very friendly and polite. I don't think I'll come back.

Not great. They had me at Chiles toreados but the lack of service ruined the experience and the food needs more care. They had some nice and very friendly girls working here but the European decent girl who "waited" on me did absolutely bare minimum. I would have preferred to fall back on my terrible Spanish than deal with someone that should not be in service. Looks like she should be in a methadone clinic or at home in her parents' trailer. I would have asked more but I only saw her when I placed the order and magically when I was finished eating. I went to wash my hands and the food had magically appeared. Never mentioned to pay at the front register so left me there until eventually I had to go ask for my check. More salsa would have been nice. Different salsa if they had it because it was a bit too canned crushed tomato and not hot. I would have also asked for lettuce, tomato and sour cream. Many places this will come with either the chimi or the toreados or both. The steak on my chimichanga was diced in tiny bits which seems strange and greasy. Reminded me of waffle house but maybe less steak tasting. Giving two stars because there were other people working who appeared more committed.

I am visiting Baton Rouge with my sisters for the weekend, and this little restaurant is GREAT! I’ll definitely be back my next trip
