Review Faye's - Baton Rouge

Food was subpar, just another overpriced hole in the wall. The man and wife that seemed to be running the place were downright rude. Not just to me, I saw a man who was obviously homeless walk in and quietly and nicely ask for a cup of water and they told him to leave. SMDH. Money over people. Sure, a business has to make money, but shooing off the less fortunate does NOT impress people and make them want to give you money.

Wow. Huge sandwiches, made to order. Really fresh and awesome. Highly recommended and we will be back!!! Super cute atmosphere and vibes. Love the staff. Super nice.

I have been a regular of Faye's for about the 5+ years. I love the food, the staff is absolutely awesome and has to be my favorite lunch spot. In spite of them having a huge lunch crowd, I always appreciated how kind they were to me and even to the point where one of ladies who regularly ran the register would remember what drink I liked with my meal. I recently had to move from BR for work and honestly will miss Faye's. I will definitely be eating lunch there when I come to visit.😁

I have never once had any topping or meats that was anything less than fresh and delicious and high-quality. eating there, you can definitely sense the pride and love that there is in their craft of making sandwiches.I know that sounds kind of silly, but it's kind of an interesting thing to enjoy if you go there. I highly recommended out of every other sandwich shop in downtown. This place is terrific...better than any chain sandwich shop hands down. Excellent service and wonderful food. Don't pass Faye's by if you are visiting Baton Rouge!

I used to come here on Wednesday’s; I’d call it Faye’s Wednesday’s. I’d get the veggie sandwich and some Zappos. This place was a sanctuary to me - the only place in BR Downtown that can make a mean veggie sub. I wonder if they still saved my order; I was a frequent customer and I miss them so much now! I hope all is well. Everyone is so nice 💜💛

Best subs, salads, and potato salad in town. My favorite is the Best sandwich. All the bites to the end are delicious. I would recommend this place to my friends without a doubt.

The sandwich secret figured out.... Sandwich places are a dime a dozen but one of the things that makes Faye's special is they've figured out a key secret to sandwich-building, a secret most places seem to not be getting: there is a very important order to the ingredients. Faye's knows to not put mayo, mustard, oil & vinegar or other wet condiments next to the cheese. They know to put them where they go best - between the lettuce and the top slice of bread. Wet condiments belong next to the lettuce, just like salad and dressing. Getting the order right can make the difference between a good sandwich and a terrific one.

Food was decent but the service was AWFUL! The girl at the counter was too busy on her phone to bother with me, the cook came out and was extremely rude, when I FINALLY got my salad you could clearly see the lettuce had gone bad. I will never go here again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

As much as I appreciate a good sandwich, I really appreciate even more a good local sandwich shop or restaurant that serves a unique sandwich. When given the choice between Subway or pretty much anywhere else, I will choose the somewhere else. This doesn't mean I have anything against Subway, and I do think they make some tasty sandwiches, but those just aren't my thing when I have other options. I like to see some originality in a sandwich shop, so I walked right past the Subway today and went to Faye's.<br/><br/>Faye's, in downtown Baton Rouge, has been in operation for 25 years. It is a real quick hop across Third Street from my office, so I am about a once-every-other-week regular customer. <br/><br/><br/><br/>Every time I walk in to Faye's there is a line at the counter waiting to order and pick up their subs. Their shop is run like a well oiled machine. Each person does their own thing, and the sandwiches flow off the line and into peoples' bellies. One thing I really enjoy about Faye's is that all the meat and cheese is sliced fresh for every sandwich right there in front of the customer. They don't pre-slice the turkey and then store it a refrigerated container until someone orders it. Instead, they have everything you could want on display right there in front of you, and they run it throught the meat slicer like the deli at a grocery store and place it right onto your bread. <br/><br/><br/><br/>Today I ordered the #11 "Best". The 8" loaf of wheat bread came with freshly sliced ham, salami, capicola, pepperoni, and provolone cheese. That was then topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, salt, pepper, oregano, oil, vinegar, and dijon mustard. Man, was it ever a treat! The sandwich itself was just the right size for a lunch. Each of the meats had its own fresh taste that contributed to the overall flavor of the sub-styled sandwich. The salami and pepperoni were pretty typical, but still tasty in their own right. The veggies, oil, vinegar, oregano, and spicy dijon mustard put the finishing touches on the well executed sandwich. Combined with Zapp's Hotter 'N Hot Jalapeno potato chips (one of the best chips of all time!), the meal was very satisfying, and, unlike the chinese buffet at China House, I was ready to go back to work and be productive! The sandwich, chips, and drink comes in at $7.75, so certainly not too bad a splurge.
