Nice spot right next to grandfather mountain. Well designed and quality drip. Had a variety of other stuff too. Plenty of cozy seating. Outside the shop was a little plain but inside was awesome.

Absolute must stop before or after your Grandfather Mountain hike. Visiting off season, before sugar mountain and beech mountain have opened up; we found ourselves in this stunning mountain coffee shop. The service was warm and welcoming and just made us feel good before our trip up the mountain to hike. In house ingredients make this coffee shop one of the best I've had in the area as well as Raleigh. We'll be back every time wether its for hiking or skiing.

Stopped in leaving Beech heading to Blowing Rock to do some work and to charge the truck. I always enjoy this place! Coffee is great, I learned today that the coffee I was drinking was roasted locally by Hatchet coffee. I love that they try to keep things local. tried the Asiago rosemary bagel this morning. It was great! The place is clean and has wifi which I’ve taken advantage of before. Met the owner, a young entrepreneur, really nice guy.

Excellent coffee shop! Good selection of pastries and coffee. Staff is very friendly and exactly the type of vibe that make a great coffee shop. They have a bunch of seats to relax while you enjoy your coffee. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Fantastic Americano - very, very smooth. I’m sad I discovered this fantastic coffee on my last day in Banner Elk. I will definitely be back during our next trip. Parking was plenty and service was fast.

Have stopped here many times the last couple years and they are consistently caring, with high quality baked goods and top notch espresso drinks. Love the friendly mountain atmosphere and hospitality 🌄☕

A super cozy coffee place. The shop has positive vibes and a very inviting.atmosphere. Outstanding customer service. Everyone was hands on to support customers. Two areas that they could grow. The coffee needs to be hotter. The muffins would taste better if they’re grilled instead of heated.

We stopped while passing through to head home after a mountain weekend. The service was great and our lattes were fun seasonal flavors. We had the eggnog latte and a pumpkin spice (made with fresh pumpkin) latte with almond milk. The lattes could have been hotter, they were warm but we also didn't say anything. We'll be back next time we're in town.

We stopped here as it was close to Sugar Mountain and we were thirsty after skiing g the slopes. I ordered an iced mocha while my friend had a dirty iced chai latte, which is just a chai latte with a shot of espresso. My mocha was good, it had a good balance between the coffee and milk. My friend enjoyed their dirty chai latte; we would order both again. They have pastries as well, it’s close to both Sugar Mountain and Beech slopes so it’s great to stop for a drink or snack when on your way back to the cabin.

Here’s to Fred & Larry’s being closed! Recently stayed here for late season snow skiing and needed some coffee as we left ours at home. First option offered up on google search was closed and this one was only another mile away. Man, they got me so good with their gingerbread latte that I came back the next 2 days for my wife’s breve mocha and that darn Campfire latte. Hard to decide between the 2 which was best and that’s a good problem to have. Atmosphere was inviting and the dudes serving were very helpful and attentive. If/when we come back to Sugar, well-being stopping here again.

Good coffee, good place. This place is located close to the ski action (7 min). It  has a good quality coffee with delicious bakery food. They also have a variety of teas. The plus is the service. I’d love to visit  it again.

Mountain Grounds is an absolute gem in the High Country! Not only is the coffee delicious (and from a local roaster!), the food is also some of the best in the area. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by the kindest staff in a very welcoming environment. It’s the perfect place to grab some coffee & breakfast, then chill with friends or read a book!

We were coming back from a job in the area and needed an afternoon pick me up. We were going to get some coffee at the Lowe’s foods behind Mountain Grounds, but saw the sign for Mountain Grounds and quickly diverted. We were glad we did! We were able to get fresh coffee and a snack for the road. The owner was there and she suggested we try some of the scones and baked goods. We will definitely be returning when we are in the area!

Loved this place! My boyfriend and I got bagels, a cold brew, and mocha. They were so fast, nice, and helpful. We are from out of town, but if we were local this would be a staple for us. I’m going to assume the guy that helped us was the owner, he was so nice and helpful. Thanks!

We came here because we saw online that there were dairy free/gluten free/vegan pastries. The pastries were delicious, as was the coffee. I was able to eat and my partner was able to still get ham and cheese as well.
