We sat at the bar and the bartender explained to us the history of the physical bar and how the building procured it after it sailed internationally on a ship in the early 1900's. Great spot to grab dinner and drinks.

Well we love it here . The food is good , but please don’t forget the details , it makes a difference . Not everyone drinks liquor, please always have fresh brewed iced tea , the pot pie was excellent but vegetables were crunchy . The bread on a sandwich seemed stale , and dessert was just put on a plate , no whip cream , no presentation . Last but not least , why play music when no one can hear it . The food is good here , but I hope they Improve on items mentioned . It does Make a difference . Also the Caesar salad said “grilled “ It was not grilled at all . The food you get should be how it is described on the menu .

TL;DR: Very good food and drinks in a cozy atmosphere. It's a yes. Came in solo on a Friday night, looking for a drink or two and something to eat. I tried the fried oysters to start, and they were very, very good - half-a-dozen plump, perfectly fried oysters with a delicious spicy sauce on the side. On the strength of the fried oysters, I decided to go for the fish and chips for dinner. Whoever is running that fryer really knows their business. Overall impression is that they care about what they're doing. Recommended.

The best place in Fells Point for a quiet pint of Guinness. Proper pour, pub atmosphere, and friendly service. Two separate bars and a wood grill with outside seating seals the deal. Outstanding. Thank you for this place.

This is the spot. Best burger in baltimore. Great old school Fells vibe. Pot pie finna make me act up. Drinks flowed like wine. Service 10/10. Tell your friends, but not too many.

This is a hidden gem in Fells (especially if you’re looking for a traditional bar vs. the club atmosphere of other spots nearby). Whether it’s just for drinks or for food, I always love Penny Black. Everyone on staff is kind and competent.

We like this very old bar- restaurant. My favorite is their Baked Bree as an appetizer with crackers and grapes. The soups are a bit spicy to my taste. You can sit outside at the harbor in the heart of Fells Point. Once it was really raining and we got our seats in the backyard of the restaurant. It felt cozy. I really recommend this place as you can be always seated. It feels like in old good Europe. 👍

My sister was in town for the holiday weekend. I had boasted about the vibrancy of Fells Point before she 'trucked' it from Jersey so naturally, I swung her by. We walked the length and breadth of the joint before she gravitated to Penny Black for some unexplained reason. And I'm happy she did because I had a sumptuous crab cake and a perfectly mixed 'sprinkles' (a cousin's word for the hard stuff). Oh so good. Sis had shrimps and gushed over it too. Most other spots were far more crowded. I dare say those other throngs missed a good thing. PS: It would have been a shame if Penny Black had made my sister's first foray into Fells Point a bust.

The best place if it’s kind in Fells Point! It has retained its old Fells charm and ambiance since the 70s! Delicious food and reasonably priced drinks! Family owned and operated for many decades. I love that it doesn’t have loud obnoxious music and it’s not trying to be the hip new spot. It’s the perfect place to sit down and chat with your friends or make some new ones! Keep up the good work PB!

Always great food. Crabcakes and smoked chicken wings are delicious. At the moment, they have a bourbon pecan bread pudding on the menu that is out of this world! Definitely made from scratch.
