Faidley's crab cake is an absolute American story! The story of how you can became famous with only one thing/product... You can smell history here, this place is out of this world, such an experience to see and witness this place today! The food is ok, sandwich was nice, bit no more then that. On the other side, prices are to high for this amount of food. 4* is a max rate.

The best crab cakes in Baltimore. Excellent seafood selections. Shrimp salads, fried oysters, codfish cakes, and more. Still located in the old portion of Lexington Market, so be prepared for zero ambience.

Iconic crab cakes in Baltimore. Market price: mine was around $24-25. No seats, only standing tables. Given Faidley’s accolades, I expected it to taste much better, but it was bland with only a hint of mustard(?). The idea is to dress the crab minimally, to let the crab be the star of the show, but it failed to draw out the natural sweetness of the crab—perhaps a bit more salt. That said, the price is fair for this amount of jumbo lump crab meat with hardly any filler. It’s an honest business. I wouldn’t make a special trip out of it, but it’s worth trying if you’re in the area.

Delicious!!! Pretty pricey given the amount of food, but the crab lump was delicious. Fun vibes. Have to stand while you eat, but it's such an exciting place one hardly minds! But good to keep in mind for accessibility.

A hole in the wall dive for sure. It was questionable walking to it from Inner Harbor, but no issues. Food was fantastic. Standing tables only. The lady hand making the crabcakes was 3rd generation and doing it 50+ years. Her daughter was running the register. It was a must see for me and I'd go back if I ever get back to Baltimore. Crabcake and 2 sides were about $32. Totally worth it.

Faidley seafood market is a blast from the past. You’re not gonna sit down and eat in comfort. You walk in and they want you to order right away. You get in line and you have to quickly decide what you want. I chose to walk around and look at everything and then come back to decide. My husband got one crabcake, coleslaw, and a beer. I got the crabcake platter, which came with one crabcake, and two sides. I chose the macaroni seafood salad, and the carrot salad it Was too much food for me. I enjoyed the crabcake and so did my husband, it wasn’t the best crabcake we’ve had but it was good. My husband had to wait a long time to get a beer, they need more staff. I didn’t mind standing while eating, but I could see how some people wouldn’t want to do that.

I finally got to taste the best crab cakes and wow it did not disappoint! Love every bite! I tried both style of crab cakes, I love the jumbo lump better due to its thickness of crab meat. However, the backfin crab was seasoned really well and has a kick to it. Either one is good and worth a try.

If you find yourself on business in this area… go to Faidleys! Pick out your own fresh seafood, they steam or fry for you. Highly recommend the red snapper (fried) with coleslaw, steam shrimp with all of the seasonings and add their famous crab cake to whatever you order. 10 out of 10.

I've been to the original market 3 years ago and the new market they opened at Lexington Market. Faidley's Seafood is in the original market and its still the best seafood stand in all of Baltimore. Not too far from the Edgar Allen Poe House and Museum. They Lump Crab Cakes are delicious.

All I can say is that their crab cakes are a MUST TRY. Absolutely delicious 🤤 The first bite was phenomenal. I will never eat crab cakes anywhere else. We got meet Nancy Faidley-the best crab cake maker in the world-and her daughter Damye. Lovely and truly awesome people. Their story is the best!

Best crab cakes ever!!! That is a very bold statement, but I have never tasted anything quite like Faidley’s crab cakes. The crab cakes alone makes me drive hours from NY to Maryland. Once you savor one of these crab cakes, any crab cakes you will eat can never compare. I guarantee you that. The sides are also phenomenal and a good compliment to the crab cakes. The set meal makes it a celebration when you visit Faidley’s. But Faidley’s is not just about their crab cakes, they also have a vast array of seafood like fish, oysters and whole crabs. It is an experience worth going to Baltimore for.

Stopped for lunch on a busy Saturday, great atmosphere and even better food ! Hands down the BEST crabcake we have ever had ... oysters were super fresh too! A must go if you're in Baltimore. Parking a block away at the Lexinton Mkt garage was easy peasy!

Crab cakes were delicious for their version, I think we make a better one at home but it’s always fun to try others. Definitely a good cake compared to other restaurants in the area. The Mac and Cheese tasted like queso, which was not a hit with our kids unfortunately.

The crab cake was very good! One is enough for two people. It is expensive though, about $25 each. Don’t get the fried clams they where tiny and not juicy. The devil eggs where very good and actually sweet.

The most awesome crab cake EVER!! We also had a sampler platter which was incredible as well. Easy walk from the Lexington Market Light rail stop. We were complete newbies and everyone was so helpful suggesting what to have, service was quick, and did I mention the food was incredible! Do not miss this when in Baltimore!!

I went there for an early lunch. I had the Maryland crab soup and the Award Winning Lump Crab Cake. The soup was good (3.5/5). The crab cake was really good (4.5/5).

Hands down the best crab cakes I've ever had! It's worth making the 3 hour drive to get them! I have recommended to several friends that have made the stop. Nothing but positive comments from all of them. I can't wait to make another road trip to get some!

The crab cake was delicious!!! The sides were ok... I had fries and collard greens. Steak cut fries aren't my favorite anyway but doable. The collards taste like they were from the can and they just heated them with turkey meat. Yuck! Anyhoo, I would definitely come back for a crab cake!

Crab cakes are the real deal and the steamed shrimp are equally sporty. Great meal. Great piece of Americana too. The raw oysters are a must try.

Park Close and Eat Crab!. There is a parking garage right next to the Lexington Market...PARK THERE. (The area is kind of shady and you really don't want to walk further than you have to get to the market.) Another thing to keep in mind. It's seafood...it's crab...it's on the pricier side. To save money, I recommend bringing your own drink and not buying a platter (it just comes with sides). <br/><br/>The lump crab cake was exactly that. A lump of crab with little to no fillers. It was just a lump of tender, flaky crab goodness. The only thing I liked better was the soft shelled crab! It wasn't even in season but was beyond delicious. I loved it so much, I couldn't bring myself to eat it in a sandwich. Nope! Just pulled off that distracting bread and chowed down on pure seafood. If you still have room in your stomach, go to Berger's Bakery and get the Nut Roll!

Yummy. I was this place on TV and told my wife the next time we are in town we would have to stop here. Well, our 1st grandson was born so off to Baltimore we went! After we meet him we headed to Faidley's. These are the best crab cakes we ever had! Tons of lumped crab meat and huge! Great flavor! This will be a stop for us every time we are in town!

So worth it. My husband was on deployment and said during our anniversary weekend we need to eat at this crab spot in Baltimore. Well here it is and we both can say it was so worth it. Lump crab cakes were so good!

The Best!. I grew up in Maryland and ate here as a kid. I live in Oklahoma now, ordered some cakes by mail--WOW! They are still the best you've ever had--ANYWHERE! Not one fine restaurant in Oklahoma City comes close to these folks.

Tired. I've been going to Faidley's for years, but this time, I've decided it will be my last. It's not that the seafood is not fresh or high quality, but the preparation is haphazard. This last time, I went earlier in the lunch hour on a Saturday. The line for crab cakes was empty, once I was ushered past the tourists trying to decipher the menu. I ordered a crab cake, and it was good, but there was something about it that wasn't satisfying. Putting my finger on it, the crab cake was soggy and must have been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. The people behind the counter must have cooked some crab cakes in advance to get a jump on the Saturday crowds. Being there early, I got one of those. <br/><br/>There's a lot of places in Baltimore to get high-quality freshly-prepared crab cakes. Next time, I'll go to one of those.<br/><br/>Separately, the Market really needs to do something about the shooting gallery outside of the doors.

The real mccoy. Crabs selected for this restaurant's food go to Crab Heaven. There is simply no better crabcake on the planet, including the ones I make myself. Slightly rough and tumble for the yuppie crowd, but relish the food, the atmosphere and the pride these folks take in bringing you The Best. Yup. Go there

Great raw bar experience. I was happy to discover the Faidley raw bar where I ordered a dozen clams and a dozen oysters. <br/><br/>The raw bar is busy, and the service is fast and there are some very hardworking people there. The bivalves are opened and served on disposable plates - this is not fancy and they are not super cleaned up, so expect to get a bit of shell now and then.<br/><br/>I was surprised when the woman at the bar asked if I wanted an egg and I said I had never eaten clams or oysters with an egg, and she said "I'll set you up".<br/><br/>She set up three sample oysters with hot sauce, a slice of hard boiled egg, cocktail sauce and crumbled cracker. I've eaten a lot of clams and oysters but I've never seen this before. <br/><br/>They were good, and almost everyone around us was eating them that way.<br/><br/>I really want to give kudos to the woman at the bar during a busy shift for taking the time to show me this new way to eat oysters, and for her overall great service.

I was very impressed. I ate at a few places in Baltimore and the lump crab cakes far surpassed them all. It's big. So am I so I also had the soft shell crab sandwich for the first time. Amazing. I washed them down with a few oysters and clams from the bar. I'd go back to Baltimore just for this place.

Still the best!. Lump crab cakes are by far the best, Don't bother with anything else, these are so good everything else seems just OK in comparison. We traveled to DC and rented a car just to go to Faidley Seafood. The Jumbo Lump crab cakes are that good! Don't miss the shucked as you watch oysters a dozen for under $20. We can't get fresh oysters this cheap on the coast of Maine. If you want great seafood and don't mid standing in a crowd, this is the place.

Maybe once a place to get a great crab cake but this place is hanging on its name!!!! In a food mall of antagonizing crack heads and homeless is a place that sells an overpriced microwaved crab cake $13 for a lump of crab that left a taste of rotten garbage in our mouth for hours. Pass this one up do not waste your time!!!!

Crabcakes that live up to their promises...even after closing. They do close early, and seating, if you need it, is upstairs & around the corner. Sides were excellent too. Yummy coleslaw, & I don't usually go for that as my side. We eat (4 adults) got a $13 lump and a $2 side to share. The 2 kids and all 4 of us were full, with leftovers! And we ate with real Baltimorians! (no red sox fans to be seen!)

Excellent Crabcakes!!. We love stopping by Faidley's for crabcake sandwiches whenever we're in the area. There are three different varieties i.e. Lump, Backfin and regular. We always get the backfin (best value for the money). The crabcakes are made the way Chesapeake Bay crabcakes are supposed to be made, lots of crab, little filler, Old Bay seasoning and all.

On arguably the hottest day of summer, 2010, my best friend and i made our way over to lexington market. it was saturday and there were, quite simply, THRONGS of people listening to an R&B band, but the old tile and dark stone floors offered a bit of respite from the scorching heat outside. <br/><br/>just to give you some perspective on how long i have been waiting to try faidley's crabcakes, i have lived in baltimore since 1993, and, to my chagrin, i had yet to visit any of the city's markets until that weekend. and, as an avid food network viewer, i had seen a number of spots on this family joint and was dying to see what all the fuss was about. <br/><br/>so, after wandering around the market for a good 20 minutes, we found faidley's. the line stretched around the perimeter of the eating area, so we quickly jumped into it and waited for our chances to order these golden behemoths. <br/><br/>i ordered two of their jumbo lump cakes and got half a dozen hushpuppies on the side, to go. 30-some dollars later, we made our way back to my apartment to sample the crabby goodness. mustard and mayo seem to make up the majority of the binder, with a few saltines thrown in for good measure, but in between the yellowy filler were the most succulent pieces of lump and jumbo lump crab. divine! oh, and the hushpuppies were perfectly crisp, not at all greasy, and filled with a lovely, slightly sweet corn flavor. definitely worth braving the heat, the large crowds, the long lines, and the hefty price tag!<br/><br/>my one critcism would be that for all its succulence, the cake's flavor was a bit one-dimensional. i suspect this is due to the abundance of mustard, but i still didn't care. you could serve me plain crab on a cracker, and i'd still love it. <br/><br/>verdict: a crabby two thumbs up!

I mean, really.. My pitifull attempt to review this restaurant would only be an insult. This is one of my favorite places in the world. In the old market, nestled in all the other great and not-so great food and trinket stores, everytime I get anywhere near B-More I make this a priority. Fried and salty greatness with cheap Natty Bo's and I am in what can only be described as heaven. This is some of the best, east coast inner-city food you will find anywhere in the world.

I went crabcake-crazy in Old Baltimore!. I held the distinction of being the first driver out of Florida to deliver Baltimore's anxiously-awaited watermelons one year. They were to end-up at the world-famous Lexington Market, (est. 1782). It was my first delivery to Maryland, and I had never had a crabcake before, so I took the locals' advice, parked the rig after unloading, took a couple of days off, rented a car, and thoroughly enjoyed Baltimore. <br/>Faidley's jumbo lump crabcake blew my mind, (and though I've eaten lots of others since that day, not a single one has been as good). Afterward, as I roamed around this awesome, historic market, I noticed a throng of people at one of the produce stalls, lined-up to buy the first watermelons of the season. I know it's kind of silly, but it brought a couple of tears to my eyes...( wiped-them away and headed to Poe House & BMA, to cap-off a GREAT visit to Old Baltimore :)<br/><br/>my rating: & & & & & { 5 out of 5 crabcakes! }

From the microwave preparation to the bread aftertaste, I can't say I was overly impressed. The amount of crab lumps was a good representation of what an all-lump crab cake should be. But I expect to taste more crab in my crab cake than anything else...
