Good sushi. Been meaning to write this review ever since we visited her a couple weeks ago. Good sushi, nothing to knock your socks off, but fresh, well made, and tasty. Very reliable. Service was a little deliberate, but it was a busy Saturday night. Our sushi order was taking a while to come out, so our server brought us a couple bowls of miso soup to tide us over; a very nice gesture.
the only complaint I have is the rolls were quite large; more than bite size. If you have to bite a roll in half, it tends to fall apart. Sushi should be easily bite size.
With that being the only real issue, we would still return.
Great Sushi!! The best in St. Louis. Staff is great. Ask for Courtney or Brian on the bar side, they go above and beyond! I promise you will love this place. Plus their new Happy Hour has some great deals!
Best sushi in town! Period.
Simply the best quality and best run restaurant in the Midwest. Clean, top quality food, masterful creations, innovative and accommodating in every way. Owner, Ann Bognar is fabulous !
Some of the absolute best sushi I have ever had! The White Dragon Roll is to die for!
Consistent and good. I go to all the sushi spots in STL. NT is consistenly good and a good value. After some early teething pains years ago, NT now delivers every time with knowledgable servers who have been there for years.
Decent. Good sushi but horrible service. Maybe it's gotten better in the past couple years but when we were going quite often in 2010 it was bad.
Bit on the pricey side but sushi I thought was top notch.
Great portions. Great service. The rolls are twice as large as other places. Really nice atmosphere too!
One of our faves. Very nice atmosphere. The sushi is really good. The last time we were there two of our rolls were falling apart but it was still very good. I like that the edamame is complimentary.
Freshest Sushi in town. Nippon Tei always has the freshest sushi. I love the spicy tuna roll and the tuna tartar. I also recommend the baked mussels. The service is very friendly, no matter how packed they are.
Certainly The Best Sushi in West County. Hands down best sushi in west count! Get spicy tuna roll, sumo roll, or slamon roll and you cant go wrong! And if you want a real treaton weekend nights they offer live scallops!!!
Good sushi but the service sucks. They are slow!!!!
From the outside it doesn't look much but they have great suchi. There lunches are the best in town.
Food is good...keep fusion in mind.... The put the word fusion on the sign for a reason. It is traditional sushi items mixed with a modern and artful flavor. Things can get quite fused, but in general everything is quite good.
Good sushi. Their sushi is really great. Unfortunately, their service is often really, really bad. And their non-sushi stuff is generally pretty bland.
Excellent sushi, very good service. A little dark but quiet place. Good for taking a date to.
Quality stuff! Asian/American fusion sushi made to taste divine. If you are a sushi purist you'll find chow to make you happy. Experiment and try something new each time...you won't be sorry.
Best Sushi in West County. Nippon Tei is our fallback place to eat whenever we go out. If nothing else sounds good or inspires us, we get a spicy tuna roll, yellowtail roll, and one of the specialty rolls. Nobody in St Louis has a better spicy tuna roll. Nobody. The seafood and squid salad is very good as well.
Bryan and his staff are always friendly, fast, and helpful. Even on busy nights.
Sushi Staple. I cannot tell you how deep my love it for Nippon Tei. I consider myself a regular customer and my week is never complete w/o at least one roll from there. Plain and simple, my favorite rolls are the spicy tuna or spicy crab which are carefully made with the freshest fish and seaweed. The house salad is as beautiful as it tastes and I swear they have the best miso soup ever. Not sure exactly how this simple magic comes about but I do know this is the ONLY place to eat sushi on this side of town.
Take friends for dinner and drinks; they opened up a new lounge side with couch seating, deep house playing in the background, and top shelf liquor. I love the Lychee Martini--- not too sweet with a smooth finish.
Sushi-panicked friends should not fret. They serve a full menu of cooked asian fusion so even the unadventurous palate will be satisfied. You MUST order the crab ragoon-- no, it's not like all the other's you've had. Chicken curry is fantastic as is are the scallops with eggplant.
Great Food/Wonderful Atmosphere. My husband and I have been going to Nippon Tei for 4 - 5 years now, and we absolutely love it. It's our favorite sushi place. The food and the drinks are awesome. Our favorite drink is the Opium. It's really great!
The service is always good, and we love Bryan, Whitney, Nina and Angela. They are the best! Whitney is the best Sushi Chef in St. Louis hands down!!! We go almost every week unless we are out of town, and we will continue to go for years to come.
They are about to open a new side to the restaurant, and I can't wait! It's going to be a lounge w/bar area. I'm sure that it will be great! The atmosphere is the best too. We love the nice romantic feel, and the decor is really nice too. We celebrated many special occasions here, and we would highly recommend Nippon Tei for any occasion.
For some sushi is wonderful, for others the thought may induce a gag reflex (such a travesty)! But if you've never even dreamed of eating raw fish, you would be pleasantly surprised... But only if you first tried it at a place like Nippon Tei. Nippon Tei
Great Japanese restaurant. STL must go If you are into Japanese food. I had my 2 year anniversary there. The service is great. Tempura shrimp was crisp and tender. The lamb special was seasoned really well. Just remember to bring your proof of vaccination before you go.
Omakase was great. I would recommend Red dragon maki. Totally worth the price. The portion of Tempura maki was small. The cheese cake is excellent for people who fancy desserts not too sweet.
Worth every penny, food and service. Definitely not a cheap restaurant for fake sushi(nigiri part). Pricey food with 20% gratitude, but they make that clear on the menus and before taking you to the table.

The food is of excellent quality! One of the best sushi place in St.Louis!đź’Ż
10/10, absolutely amazing. It has now become my favorite restaurant in St. Louis. The ramen is perfect, sushi is on point and their service is just wonderful. They will let you know all the food materials in your plate. Ohh, did I mention that they have perfume in the lady’s room? (bring your date!) Having said that, there is one caveat: they charge a mandatory 20% service fee. But they are worth it. STRONGLY RECOMMEND.
Everything was great. The hot sake is really good as well.
Awesome sushi in the heart of St. Louis County - right off of Manchester and 141. You can’t miss it. The tuna tartar is incredible and the chefs really know what they’re doing. Edward and John took great care of us at the sushi bar. Simon was our server and gave us 10/10 service. Try the sake. Visit this sushi restaurant in St. Louis.
Definitely the best sushi🍣 I have had in Saint Louis. I don't have much to say other than I want more.
