Review Ono Hawaiian Bbq - Bakersfield

People say that location is everything in operating a successful business. This restaurant is in one of the hardest places to get to and find. Their signage is easily seen from the main road, but getting into the parking lot and finding the entrance is a whole another story. You have to go through the maze of business complexes and parking lots, into the back of the building, to finally walk through their front door, which seems like it would be another business's back door. Given we went during the dinner rush and we ordered takeout. I believe that having to wait for 45 minutes for your food, until you're the last ones in the entire restaurant, was kind of sad and contributed much to the low score on this review. The service was decent. The food was ok. I've been to a lot better Hawaiian places in Utah. I guess for California this is probably one of the better places that you can get Hawaiian food. I found their spicy chicken to be too spicy to taste anything else. I think that kind of defeats the purpose of having spices added meal, is when it dominates ask the other flavors.

Ordered for pick up because I didn't want to cook dinner and was craving some Hawaii BBQ. The service was excellent the girl who answered the phone was lovely and patient to answer my questions. The order was placed easily and the food was delicious. My order was accurately made. Even my picky 10 year old finished his plate. I will definitely be coming back!

Place is very inconsistent. Had the pork and beef one night. Dreamt about the pork that night, beef was a miss. Went back for the pork then the beef was the star that time and pork was completely bland. Had to drown it in sauce at work with sushi sauce. Rice was also just mush and overcooked or over watered. Thumbs down. They don’t answer the phone sometimes either. Train staff better, please. I’ll try the katsu chicken next time. Please don’t disappoint.

Price 7/10 Flavor 7/10 I spent 27$ for 2 people, it did fill us up but most of the food is actually lettuce Chicken flavor is very blend , marinated on the spot , doesn't seem to be marinated days before Its okay, maybe not my style Every human is different

I've only ever been to the one out in the Rosedale area I did not know this one had been here on the east side for almost 4 years was very happy to see it and lunch was delicious

We got some seafood and the inferno (spicy) chicken. They had some delicious juice drinks in the cooler. The food was served with white rice and Mac salad. Very delicious.

The very first time we went the service was superb. The cashier took extra time with us explaining their popular dishes, and helping make our selections because for me it is kind of intimidating going to new places. She made things very comfortable. We have been back several times since because the food is soo good and the service is top notch. I'm not usually a fan of white Rice, but their different sauces make it taste outstanding. You normally get a scoop of macaroni salad but since I'm not a fan in general I trade it for extra rice.

Everything went well food was good employees were professional the only thing that they're lacking is speed compared to the store in Rosedale the Rosedale store you get your food quicker than the one at the on the east side on Mount Vernon
