Renae's Cafe

Chicken Fried Steak with country potatoes was bland. The chicken fried steak was so overly fried there wasn't really much meat texture. It was like eating an oily crisp. The country potatoes and egg needed seasoning but the potatoes was the higher rating of the entire dish. The hot links with loaded hashbrowns was good. We asked for cheese and onions on the hashbrowns, and although it was $3 more, that was the best tasting part of the entire meal. Yes to the loaded hashbrowns!

Delicious food, great service, fun and relaxing environment. I have been wanting to go here for a while due to their extremely high rating on google maps (I think the highest I've seen in town) and it did not disappoint. The cobb salad was absolutely huge and came with a very generous portion of good blue cheese. There was a ridiculous amount of meat and the bacon was extremely good and obviously made in house. The clam chowder was probably the best I've had from a non-oceanfront restaurant. Really liked the chunks of crab in it. The fish and chips were a little heavily breaded for my taste but the pieces of fish were large and delicious.

Nice breakfast place. Food was great but too many onions and green bell peppers in home fried potatoes. Excellent Meany omelette with added avocado. Had to sample biscuits and gravy, yum. Coffee is weak. Service and people outstanding. Lots of locals here as it's off the main boulevards and streets. Busy then quiet.

My friends have encouraged me to come here for breakfast. I came in for a mid morning breakfast. Amber was my waitress and did an outstanding job. I ordered the Supreme omelette with biscuits and gravy. It was fresh, hot and darn good, couldn’t eat it all, Amber brought me a to go container. I am going to rate Renae’s cafe as in the top ten places to eat breakfast in Bakersfield. Thank you Amber for being great at your job.
